Thank you so much, Scott! I watched your other video, removing the badges without having a heating device. I used a 25 pounds fishing line and I was able to get the job done a little over 30 minutes. Took me a bit longer because the lines broke on me a few times. If I had used a 50 pounds line, maybe I would've gotten the job done faster. I then used that 3m eraser and that took maybe another 30 minutes or so. All together, it took me over 1 hour to complete the job on my 2018 yukon xl. Couldn't have done it without your video. Thank you so much!
i watched a couple of videos today on this....and one was yours. It worked PERFECT. Took the hood badges off of my 2005 Chevy 2500. Used Goo Be Gone and worked great....it smells citrus. Put the new badges on and I am PLEASED beyond measure. Used fishing line.... Works great. No heat gun. Thanks again Boss.
Scott - great video/tutorial and contrary to some of the other posts I appreciate the commentary. I'm not a detailer but I like working on all aspects of personalizing my vehicles. Watching videos like this gives me the confidence to take on these tasks. Keep it up sir, great job. I'm off to the parts store now with my list.
Years ago the 3M eraser used to be orange/red and was a lot harder and more effective and durable. They changed to what we have now, a bit softer, safer and less durable, but still gets the job done efficiently. It’s main function was to remove pinstripes off a car and exactly what was done in this video. Great video👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for the information. I have not watched any other videos about this that makes more sense than yours does. I have never removed emblems from cars, but I feel I can safely do so now. I am going to add a emblem back to my Bronco, so I feel sure that your way is the best way. Thank you.
Great video, your awesome. Been wanting to take off all my emblems from my 2016 Tahoe, now I know how thanks to you and your straight to the point videos. Much love from the Pacific northwest💕
I have one of those rubber wheels. It worked good on an older truck, but it burnt the crap otta my newer trucks paint. I wouldn't recommend just diving in with one of those. I'd test it on the paint in a spot under the hood or inside a door first to see if it burnt the paint.
Just saying but if you set up some training similar to Mike Phillips and Renny Doyle I could see several people going to it. All your videos are informative and very thorough.
thats a cool thought..i think it would just be fun to be with like minded people:)...not sure i would make money doing it but it would be fun to be around cool people like yourself:)...thanks for the kind words
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing you'd be surprised ive seen those classes for 2 days go for 2 grand a person and 10 people that's a nice chunk of money every month but your wealth of knowledge is appreciated from another long islander. Love your vids Scott
That's not a Dallas accent :-) Great video, especially the fishing line. There are so many new car care products on the market these days it helps to know what to use. Ill subscribe to catch up looks like you know the best.
love it. saving it. gonna do my tahoe when i get the nerve. thanks. [i would say try fire line, its kevlar, but i fish and have it laying around, ur fine]
I had to remove the door molding on all my Panthers because the cheap plastic chrome, like the kind they use on that truck, deteriorated and started flaking away. Thanks for the demo.
Awesome video man. Getting ready to do this to my Silverado. I found that 3m wheel on Amazon, but there's so many 3m wheels. Would you happen to have a part # handy?
Hi I was searching UA-cam and every other site I could think of for a way to remove the adhesive that is left on the dash after the vinyl has been removed. I have a 1998 BMW Z3 and the vinyl has basically melted or became unattached to the dashboard. I have already removed the vinyl covering but I am now left with a sticky residue. I have tried Goof Off and Acetone but it still isn't working very well. This glue is a bear. Being a female and having no clue how to attack this problem I saw your video and knew that if anyone would know how to fix this it would be you. Could you please advise me of a product that would actually work on this stubborn adhesive? I would really appreciate your guidance. BTW, very interesting video. Obviously you are a pro at these things.
I thought you were going to do more videos about this. I checked the rest of your videos and didn't find anything. You mentioned a way that you don't need to heat it up at all, unless I misunderstood.
Love the videos. Seriously thinking about this field. Years of construction have taken a toll on my body. What schooling do you suggest? Would love to apprentice somewhere.
They probably use a heat gun because they don't have a steamer, as I........but I certainly am not "OVERTHINKING THE MOMENT"!.......that one came somewhat out of left field from you Scott.
oh I'm sorry..didn't mean to offend anyone..heat guns can bring on some problems in the hands of the inexperienced and they could burn the clear coat and thats what i meant by overthinking the moment ,believing the heat from the heat gun is needed although it could cause damage...and most pro detailers will have a steamer plus a heat gun but haven't thought about using the steamer for removing emblems..far safer and as effective and in my opinion reduces your liability ...so not really coming out from left field but i understand why you thought that way..i should have explained more clearly..my fault:)...the steamer i use is less than 200 dollars and can be used in so many areas of detailing..you should look into one but I'm not sure if you detail as a business or not?...thanks for your comment Anthony and sorry if you felt i was stepping on your toes for using a heat gun..in the future i will use something that may blow some minds where heat isn't needed what so ever and i have never seen it done before but in my world:)
Very true.....heat guns in the hands of an inexperienced person or detailer can do damage if not used properly. I've been a mobile detailer for several years and have always tried to limit the amount of equipment I carry around from day to day. I frequently travel out of my home state to work for clients and found myself using my old steamer less often. I typically will carry my heat gun, fishing line, 3M eraser wheel, and rapid remover to complete debadging jobs. You''re definitely right about the steamer limiting anyone's liability. No toes stepped on or love lost brother. Can''t wait for the next video....keep up the great work!
remember citrol works just as well as rapid remover for glue residue and its cheaper..plus citrol can be diluted 1:1 and still be as effective!..i pay 39 a gallon from my local napa and if i dilute the product that would be 20 a gallon...wow!..i still have rapid remover but i find i use it less and less these days
and now i'm going to NAPA...I paid $61 on amazon and it was already worth every penny! Cannot believe how effective it is on EVERYTHING! Especially bugs though. God front bumpers are a breeze now. MANY thanks for that one Scott! Keep making videos, you're awesome!
Well guys I got a big surprise today my dealer emblem that I don’t want came off very easily although the seven letters really came apart as I pried it up with my fingers. It was put on March 5th. 2021
I followed this video as closely as I could. I think the steam burned a little discoloration into the clear coat (white car). Big faint yellow spot. I was concerned but I buffed it out with orange pad and maguiar’s polish. Two passes at a time, checking, and watching it slowly disappear. Just in case somebody else runs into the same issue.
PLEASE warn people......I happen to know someone who tried this on the hatch of an SUV, which was hard plastic, NOT metal. Well, 15 seconds later, they had eaten grooves into the door hatch and had a nightmare on their hands. It's a great tool, and thanks for showing, but be warned!
Scott - Question - I used this method to debadge my new maroon 2019 Traverse. It was a cloudy day when I did this. In the sunlight today, I can really see I guess they could be burn marks on clear coat? They look almost orange in color. The surface feels flat and regular, but I wonder if there is any way to correct this? Paul
David Saenz depends on where you live. Depending on how long the things being removed have been on the vehicle is one important question and spend the money and get the 3m wheel there like 30$ comes with drill attachment if your car is newer it’s pretty easy those 3m wheels make it a breeze. Google or contact detail guys around you and ask there price I’ve heard of it costing 100-300-400$ again depending on what’s needed to get the paint clean once the emblem is off if they have been there yrs might want to leave them or replace with new ones after removed. Cheers
i buy it at my local napa for 39.00 dollars a gallon...not all napa auto parts will carry but i believe all can order it for you at the same price...hope that helps me friend...plus i will find a link for you where you can order it online for the same price..yes amazon tends to be more for just about everything unless your a prime member and get it free shipping in two days
rich also remember citrol can be diluted ...even at 1:1 its extremly effective!...so that would be 25 a gallon for you if you got it from amazon...so much cheaper than rapid remover!
Adam Young I don't think they call it scratch wheel..lol But if you lack experience and lack of critical thinking, you probably shouldn't use this tool
Look - I watch all of your videos on how to take care of a variety of issues with cars - but JESUS!! I have to always forward the videos you upload because you spend wayyyy too much time talking instead of just getting right down to it. For Gods sake STOP TALKING SO MUCH! You would do better for US by simply doing that. Thanks Scott
I literally walked out to my tundra and took some 6lb test line and removed the sr5,tundra,and upper badge on both sides in 5 min total, I did not need to heat up shit, I also cleaned around the adhesive before I used the rubber eraser wheel then after all the adhesive was gone I took my buffing pad and buffed out Each area then polished, turned out awesome. All in all it took me I’d say 35-40min, definitely did not take me 12 min to remove 1 emblem and definitely did not feel the need to show the whole world how I personally achieved this.
Just say. U r going use heat dont say... You dont have to do THIS. Heat gun is fastest quicks way in all ways. My boss would fire me..u heat guh has a heat. U talking way to long. No need for that. .. Please stop madness.. U can use a salutation call dub its smell like amoniya. Does not effect paint at all....
You have to understand your giving information to people with no experience. I'm sure your skilled in emblem removal but the average Joe in not. Careful what you tell people to do.
I watch on tv like the discovery channel with doctor's doing brain surgery.. I'm not going to do brain surgery any time soon but still worth trying to learn something
braided fishing line works very well and is strong.
Thank you so much, Scott! I watched your other video, removing the badges without having a heating device. I used a 25 pounds fishing line and I was able to get the job done a little over 30 minutes. Your honesty is so refreshing “here’s how I do it safely” and finished ✅

Great example of what a true and effective video demonstration, learned so much, thanks Scott.

This is the best video ive found on debadging a car i just would like to say my fingernails and I thank you!
Great video, your awesome. Been wanting to take off all my emblems from my 2016 Tahoe, now I know how thanks to you and your straight to the point videos. Much love from the Pacific northwest💕
Hot sun 95 degrees, dental floss. WD40 on residue, worked great
Wd40 eats varnish/paint...
Your voice reminds me of Howard Stern
this guy is better than Howard Stern!
Thank you for explaining which way to work, depending on direction of debris.
Dental floss is good as well great review 👍
The eraser wheel is MAGIC!!!!!!!!
Indeed teach, your videos are in depth and to the point ,the info needed with the demo required thanks teach😎
Great tips it worked well for me! Can't even tell they were there. Thanks!
excellent Scott. you explain it very well, very informative, Keep up the good work.
I have one of those rubber wheels. It worked good on an older truck, but it burnt the crap otta my newer trucks paint. I wouldn't recommend just diving in with one of those. I'd test it on the paint in a spot under the hood or inside a door first to see if it burnt the paint.
Citrol eats tar for breakfast! I wish I knew about this product years ago!
Everybody Loves Raymond is talking in this video 😂. Great job buddy. Gonna do this to my Tahoe.
5 bucks says he is not from Dallas
Just saying but if you set up some training similar to Mike Phillips and Renny Doyle I could see several people going to it. All your videos are informative and very thorough.

Nice job. Madison Square Garden should hire you to announce boxing matches. You seem to have a knack for that line of work.
I had to remove the door molding on all my Panthers because the cheap plastic chrome, like the kind they use on that truck, deteriorated and started flaking away. Thanks for the demo.
I’m about to buy a merc and it has ugly chrome mounding all over it. It’s a 2004 so im worried if it will come off.
Do you have a link to the steamer you use?
Awesome video man. Getting ready to do this to my Silverado. I found that 3m wheel on Amazon, but there's so many 3m wheels. Would you happen to have a part # handy?

Scott, you’re the best this worked like a charm 👍🏾
Smart. Thank you!
Good vid. How do you remove the black trim?
Scott which brand of coated fishing line do you use ?
Thanks for your help 👍
I thought you were going to do more videos about this. I checked the rest of your videos and didn't find anything. You mentioned a way that you don't need to heat it up at all, unless I misunderstood.
Excellent good job. Now instead of the heat gun Ill use the steamer but I dont think Im qualified for the 3m thing thats looks risky. Thank you
Thank you! I've got a new eraser wheel, but was afraid to use it! Great video!
Thank you so much for this video. I was 2 mins. away from destroying my first truck
Great method. Thank you
Love the videos. Seriously thinking about this field. Years of construction have taken a toll on my body. What schooling do you suggest? Would love to apprentice somewhere.
I was watching someone use a hair dryer. Would you suggest this? Also, without an eraser, can I just use the elbow grease and goo gone?

What if it’s 40°
Holy moly.. I'm gonna be a millionaire!
Awesome! 👊🏾
Might want to ponder a right angle drill; give better control.
Well guys I got a big surprise today my dealer emblem that I don’t want came off very easily although the seven letters really came apart as I pried it up with my fingers. It was put on March 5th. 2021

They should come off just as quickly without adding heat. I debadged mine on a 60 degree day w dental floss cuz I didn’t have fishing line
Good job. Thanks
Thanks for your tutorial, using this video and tools I was able to remove six badges my tacoma in less than one hour.
Ilcan I use this for decal vynls
Do you know how hot is too hot for clear coat and paint? My steamer gets up to 350.
steam cleaner worked a treat👍

Did you by chance take time to do a medium to light polish and follow up with a glaze and wax?
Scott can u put a link to the citrol?
www.jdindustrialsupply.com/schaeffer-citrol-gallon.html
i get it at my local napa auto parts but i sent you a link:)
Alex Bryan I found it on Amazon too. It's not on the prime list but it's free shipping.
Not sure about clear cote but was thinking fishing line could be used as I'd seen a friend do that.
whoops got a head if myself. that's what you did. derrrr
I want to do this to my car but I'm afraid I might cause some serious damage. How much does this type of work normally cost? Thank you in advance.
David Saenz depends on where you live. Scott, where do you get your Citrol? I found it on Amazon for $50, anywhere I can find it for less?
i buy it at my local napa for 39.00 dollars a gallon...not all napa auto parts will carry but i believe all can order it for you at the same price...hope that helps me friend...plus i will find a link for you where you can order it online for the same price..yes amazon tends to be more for just about everything unless your a prime member and get it free shipping in two days

Do you use it diluted or at full concentrate? Let me rephrase, do you have a bottle diluted and a container you carry at full concentrate?
yes..i use it full strength a lot and have a bottle at a 2:1 ratio as well
You can easily burn paint with that eraser wheel.
He should rename his channel to Andrew Dice Clay-bar since he sounds just like him😂
That was easy...too bad I don't have a steamer. I guess I'll have to keep watching.
Heat gun and or a hair dryer works too.
I don’t have a steamer
Ok mama
Different
You can tell that this guy has been a salesman, his speaking cadence is dreary
Sounds like ray ramino 😆
Hair dryer not heat gun.
WD-40 works well also 😁
Can you check out my latest vid and tell me what I can do with what’s wrong after I debadged my truck. Thanks.
3m scratch wheel
Adam Young I don't think they call it scratch wheel..lol
But if you lack experience and lack of critical thinking, you probably shouldn't use this tool
Again, why would you do this?
Badges are ugly,no need to advertise the car
To get that 💩 outta there. Cars look cleaner when they aren't advertising themselves or the dealership they came from.
VX 5000 😆
Look - I watch all of your videos on how to take care of a variety of issues with cars - but JESUS!! Watch this muted... It takes way too long to get to anything useful. It's a video, not a podcast, show, don't tell.

Talking too much

An eleven minute video to show a process that takes "30 seconds" ? Too much side talk, please just show the process.
