    You might want to polish the surface after, you can still see the outlines on the back when you're finished @ 3:04 . The longer those badges have been on the car, the more obvious it will be without a polish.

    The chemicals used in adhesive remover can cause discoloration and dulling of the paint surface and can also damage the protective clear coat on the car. Also, If you ran the eraser wheel on anything other than low speed and/or stayed in one spot too long you probably burned some of your clear coat.

    First method seems the simplest and quickest.
    The third method appears to be additional effort for no reason as you end up having to use the adhesive remover….so it’s one extra step ie eraser attachment for the sake of using one…
    Cause realistically after removing you’re going to end up buffing the area to blend everything in.

      I've had some good results with meguiars ultimate compound, it's not the cheapest but you can use it for other things.
      It removes like 99.9% of it but in a funny light, on a funny angle you can still catch a slight glimpse.
      You might have some luck with a cheap car polish or something similar though.

    • @Granolaboy1
      @Granolaboy1 Рік тому +1

      @@JamesHamp93 I ended up using a 1600 grit sandpaper to wet sand as much until as I could before I ran into “oh, sh!t, now I need a new paint job!” That helped, then wet over Meguiar’s compound, the polish, then wax. You can’t tell I sanded some of clear coat, but the outline of “Element SC” is still there…etched in the paint. Like yours, at a certain angle, you can’t see it. Up close, you can’t miss it!

      What colour is your car by the way? My A5 is like a Daytona grey and the A3 I had before was also grey, slightly lighter in colour. The A3 was a 2006 and that was much more visible in certain lights/angles but on my A5, which is nearly 10 years newer, you can barely see it unless you look for it in but the lighting and angle has to be just right.

The videos make it seem too easy….hey, I can do that! What could go wrong? 🤣Hopefully I don’t f@ck it up!
      Have you tried using clay bar before compound/polish/wax? Doing all 4 steps is tedious as can be, but the paint looked so beautiful afterwards and felt oh so smooth!

    • @JamesHamp93
      @JamesHamp93 Рік тому

      @@Granolaboy1 Ahh nice, that's the same as the Type R black if I'm not mistaken?
      Oh fair enough. I wouldn't have the balls to do that myself as I have no confidence in painting my own car but if you reckon you could manage it I wish you all the luck in the world.
      Chris Fix has a video where he completely restores and paints part of his car, with a spray can, and it comes out amazingly well. He gets rid of the orange peel effect by using some 5000 grit sandpaper I think. It looks amazing and he makes it seems super easy but I know i would go wrong somewhere 😂
      And when I compounded and polish the entire car I did clay bar it all first and the colour has held up really well tbh. I try to not do it much as it does eat away at the clear coat if you over do it but maybe a full go over every year or 2 with regular washing and waxing keeps it looking good.
      When I took the badges off the back I didn't clay bar it because it was such a small area in comparison to my bonet/hood for example which is like speedboat long lol!
