At the moment you started cutting that hose I was like thinking maybe you were installing it wrong way. It might have fit if you just rotate it. Well as you said in the video that being tired makes you not think clearly sometimes. Anyhow love your videos and keep it up 💪

      Thanks man! 🙏
I will definitely be checking the next hose 10 times before modifying it 😅😅😅

Next time you want to cut a hose
Put the clamp on it to mark the spot and gently close it's bolt on the hose so you can trace the line of the clamp with the cutting knife. The cut will be more nice and accurate.

Cool video as always! I think it’s not recommended to delete the upper tank if your turbo is still water cooled. I could be wrong but I read coolant continues to siphon from that high point. It allows coolant to flow without the engine running… Subaru kinda stuff lol

      Interesting! I didn’t know that!
To be honest, I haven’t had water cooling for the turbo every since I went rotated.
I want to plumb in the water cooling once I delete the header tank.
So it should be better than before even if it’s not working as good as it could be.

@ hmm now that I think about it, that feature is probably for the everyday driver. Since we are pretty aware about cool down times before shutting off the car, it’s probably not a big deal. It prolongs the service life of the turbo for those who don’t practice cool down times and Subaru doesn’t have to keep replacing turbos lol!

There’s probably some truth to that.
I intend to add cooling anyway because I hope it will give this turbo a longer life but being aware that your turbo needs to be cooled down is definitely the main factor.

Try OEM GD radiator hoses. No matter how well-intentioned (and made) aftermarket parts are, they will never have the superior fitment of OEM ones.

I agree that in the end nothing beats OEM parts. They will always fit the best.
I was thinking maybe I should have replaced the coolant manifold too. It might make things fit better as well.

What about the filling tank ???? Did you delete it??

Not yet. Once the radiator is permanently installed I will do the header tank delete.

Expansion tank is there to syphon coolant into the turbo when the engine is turned off. Are you installing a turbo timer to prevent the turbo from cooking itself?

I actually haven’t been running cooling for my turbo since I installed the Garrett 🫣
But I intend to in the near future. Hopefully cooling without a header tank will be an improvement over no cooling at all 😅😅😅
