Her voice sounds even better here than the cast album. I wish the audience had waited for her to finish that note.
Same.
I think it must have been impossible not to erupt in applause right there, right then lol
but can you blame them for not being able to hold back? it’s so impressive. i wouldn’t be able to hold back either.
Dude, the temperature of her voice in the second "ballet" of this crescendo is what makes it. It's like perfectly raspy, and her resolve at the end, the "llet" part, is just pure emotional and musical bliss. Then she ends it with a perfectly toned finish. Superb, phenomenal job.
And at the end that smile that she had on her face! She surprised herself and many other!
She not only can sing the song, but you see the way her eyes light up which makes the whole performance better!
There is no tension, no pressure, no strain. It sounds positively effortless. This isn’t easy to sing in the first place, but to sing it with such clarity and power is just a master class.
Ugh she is the only girl who can play Maggie perfectly. Love her
I mean I assume the original was better.
Sascha in terms of pure vocal power for Maggie Mara EASILY wins. Kay Cole was the original Maggie, and she was amazing, but overall I think most would say Mara reigns supreme.
Mara is def the best. She just fits it.
Outstanding. Beautiful. Heroic.
I had to pull over....
Sascha Houpt - Fun fact. Maggie was not based off of Kay Cole.
It's called the money note for a reason.
I don’t get it, why is it called like that ?
She is the embodiment of professionalism.
Aimy Realaileean thinking people got their money’s worth and it’s the literally the high point of a good song
tomgallowitz Actually, a money note is the highest note a person can sing comfortably and sound their best on personally.
Ten years later and she's still rocking this song.
can we all agree that Mara is Maggie. this is her role. this is her note. this is her.
This is not a belt, but a very healthy, solid mix. One could try to use chest voice and belt that E, but that would have been too much. You don’t want to sound yell-y, but it has to be well mixed and placed in front so the note stands out.
The way she reaches straight to that belting note is amazing.
The best is seeing her audition, then seeing this. You can definitely see the amount of pure talent it takes, but at the same time how much work goes into producing the art. Brilliant inspiration. Thanks for posting.
I completely agree!!!😊
Yes I can go back to it forever.
She can certainly nail this part. Always makes me wonder why Maggie is such a tiny part.
That's where you're wrong. Everyone in the line is like a lead role all their own. I mean Zach and Cassie are clearly the main characters, but everyone in the line is not a little or main role. They put their all in it. Which is why they all dance at the end of the show as ONE.
Maggie is actually Donna McKechnie as is Cassie but Maggie is more of her younger years
It’s such a small part because blasting that shit 8 shows a week is a full time job. Lol
@@Nostalgio lol.... You must have grown up on the godawful movie version. Zach and Cassie are NOT "the main characters.". Were it in my power I would destroy all copies of that horrid movie. It is a desecration of that wonderful stage production.
Maggie arguably has the most famous singing part so I would disagree that it's tiny...
Mara just has flawless technique, a pro in action! Flawless! No strain or stress just impeccable technique!
I met her in real life, and she's absolutely fantastic. She's incredibly sweet, and incredibly talented!
I always get chills at that note, mixed with the jazzy instrumental, mixed the sudden view of the ensemble. Very well done here.
back for my daily visit
Mara Davi is a star.
She has the most flawless technique, my god!
I love how proud she looks at the high note.
Her voice literally sounds like she’s floating, or like it’s a voice coming from the heavens or something
i love how everyone is commenting about how freaking amazing mara is and no one even seems to notice the rest of the song. shes steals this song. untouchable talent
Damn. She's still got it!
Beautiful. I just can't stop watching it, that is untouchable talent.
She gives me goosebumps every time!
She's still got it!
I keep coming back to this recording over the years. The finish on that final note is utterly perfect.
CHILLS😭😭She is perfect, and the shine in her eyes on the last note🤩😭😍
Mara KILLED it!
i just wanna know HOW
THAT NOTE.
10 years after her first performance in this roll and still absolutely INCREDIBLE
10 years later and she still got it. Pure talent right there
UGH SHES SO GOOD UGH
This music and voice makes my heart happy. There's so much beauty in this little clip it's overwhelming
I always get chills.
I can’t stop watching this. I’m enraptured.
She's the only Maggie I know who did that riff perfectly without being nasally. The original broadway revival had a near perfect cast. Everyone was on point despite the changes to the choreography and overall rendition. I'm glad this version had Mara and Jason from the Original Broadway revival and Leigh from the west end revival. I really wish they had scarlett strallen as Cassie. The rest of the cast was meh.
its a crescendo not a riff (:
The rest of the cast was meh?? Who are you?! They all were talented and gave it their all. I'd like to see you do it otherwise.
@@Nostalgio ?? I mean all you had to do was watch the original or even the revival cast and you would know that it's meh in comparison. You don't need to be the one to "do it" to clearly see that
SHE'S STILL GOT IT !!!
It’s March 2021 and I’m back here
it’s her it’s always been her it’ll always be her
Ten years later and she still has it!!
THE BEST MAGGIE
She's perfection.
chills everytime omg
chills every time
she literally sounds better than her younger self like wtf?!?!?!?
I WAS SINGING THE SONG AND THEN I HIT THE NOTE WAIT WHAT
MY GOD.
Legit crying on the bus right now
Yas Mara killing it!
She is amazingggg
Holy cheeseballs. Amazing.
i wish this version of the cast got recorded 😭 this is honestly even better than the cast album
Beautiful voice, beautiful actor
good girl mara
It’s so good. I’m undone
makes me cry every time
Maravillosa Mara, wonderful, the best Maggie!!!
AMAZING!!!!
Gives me chills!!
Literal chills
Stunning!
thais is so beautiful
CHILLLSSSSS
I was there, she nailed it :)
Believe it or not, the series FBI brought me back here! Mara has a recurring guest role as Jeremy Sisto's ex-wife on that show, and I saw her on tonight's episode, recognized her name from ACL and this video, and suddenly needed to hear her sing it again.
Thanks for the memory!
Still got it!
Que chingoneria! Qué chingón!!!
Maggie. Wooooow.
Goddess
She’s the absolute best. That’s such a difficult part to sing. How do you sing that crescendo multiple times a week and not blow your chords?
it’s funny how the best singer out of the 3 of them is the only one with a monologue instead of a singing part
i’m in love with her your honor
Everytime this video is suggested I just have to watch it
True😂still great
So we’re getting a revival in 2025, and I swear to god, I’m suing if Mara doesn’t get to play Maggie
Not me, screaming the ballet in my house
2:14 replay button
She’s my favorite Maggie 😍😍😍
I swear the cast album should have the audience cheering for this song
The best Maggie
I agree!
That E5 belt is an entire career
does anyone know how high the last note was
it's an E
E5
What is that last note?
Kevin Machado an E:)
85,000 of these views are mine.
That Sheila is like 60
Lol ikr? She looks like Cassie rather than Sheila
Honestly they care less about that stuff because they’re so far away that it’s harder to pinpoint an age. That’s why they’ve had girls in their early 20s and late 30s play Cassie.
Where's Deidre Goodwin?
This was a production done at The Hollywood Bowl this past weekend, not the Broadway Revival (although it does have a couple members of the revival cast).
Applaud after the performance, not during it
audiences shouldn't applaud big notes and such things ... they should wait to the end of the number ... it makes things like the X Factor and it interrupts the rest of the audiences concentration.
Personally I love it when the audiences applauds during a song, it means ur doing so good they couldn't wait till the end! :)
i think it's the combo of her hitting the note plus the ballet blaze going on as well.
It's the spectacle of the note and the background ballet scene.
well yes . but we don't have to applaud every time something exciting happens... it's pure x factor ... it's cheap.
I also think that the outdoor concert style (even though it was a full production) of the Hollywood bowl lends itself to people cheering during performance highlights. I'm probably making assumptions, but I would say a good chunk of the audience there (myself included) had seen/heard/were familiar with a chorus line, so we were hoping to be impressed with what we saw and applaud it when we were satisfied
She doesn't look the same than in the revival
Well it has been 10 years
Mara, looks and sounds a lot like the girl playing Maggie in the film version
that was Pam Klinger she did the original company the last 5 years
I can’t stop watching this. I’m enraptured.
good girl mara
