Her American accent in Killing Eve is so good because I know she can do an American accent, so it elevates the performance to me that she is purposefully leaving traces of her Russian behind. She is a British actor sounding like a Russian faking an American accent. Brilliant.
Even her Russian accent she deliberately doesn’t do it really strong and isn’t perfect because her character has moved around so much and hasn’t lived in Russia for years and then she makes it stronger when she goes to Russia because she knows that the accent gets stronger when you are back in that country around others with the accent
Still not as impressive as Hugh Laurie in one episode of House imitating an English accent. An Englishman playing an American imitating an Englishman and he nailed it perfectly.
as a native Russian speaker, I admire her Russian accent. All these pure sounds, without distortion and hard "r", "d" ... My brain explodes with the authenticity of what I hear. Jody just scares me with her talent, beauty and intelligence.
One of the things on top of all this is that even when she’s speaking different languages I feel like you can still hear the undertones of Villanelle/Russian instead of her Scouse accent, so impressive
It’s actually quite incredible, and its particularly apparent with the German and Italian ones to the point where I thought she was originally Russian.
It's not just the accent, but the tone of voice and the intonation - everything about her changes when she switches accents and it's incredible to watch
i guess if Comer-san spoke much American accent while looking like a Dutchwoman or a Finn(ish), then she would've played Jules in [HBO's] "Euphoria" before Hunter Schafer took that role, especially with "Euphoria" only have few non-North Americans since its a North American production and one of those non-North Americans in the series is Aussie Jacob Elordi. Its honestly sad yet a pity to have Comer not to play Jules in that series but I also reccommend Comer to play Renee Soutendijk - a Dutch actress that was only famous between the 1980s until the 1990s and also Soutendijk reminds of an older Dutch Jodie Comer BTW...

From minute 6:20 to 6:34 she isn't speaking Spanish, she's speaking Catalan. A different latin language. She pronounces grandad so well done! And I noticed she switched her Spanish accents too. Fantastic job
Also a couple random trivia things I thought I may note I know the creators of killing eve asked that Jodie’s Russian accent be more toned down as the character has lived outside of Russia for most of her life and it has been influenced by the other places she’s lived and if anyone is interested in seeing Jodie speak fully in her native accent I highly recommend help on channel 4 Such an amazing heartbreaking film which is set in Liverpool so she finally uses her full broad scouse accent! a rarity since most times in press and interviews she does tone it down as it’s notoriously hard to understand even for other Brit’s :)

I speak German, and her German was pretty good. Weirdly, given that she has done all of these really difficult accents and languages like Russian, French, Italian, Scots, Spanish, several different English accents and Catalan so perfectly, I thought her Aussie accent was just slightly off, speaking as an Aussie. This might be on purpose as she’s European and has most likely never even been to Australia, so she’s just using the same stereotypes from tv shows that any Europeans would use to imitate Aussies.
@@EliM2908 I wondered about that. She probably really worked hard on all the other accents and languages but just tried to wing the Aussie one because it seems easy.
@@shaunamurray8501 I mean villanelle as the character rather than Jodie. Considering it was such a small scene she still put loads of effort to pronounce corrently! She basically sounds like a British girl who's lived in Italy for years

That's also an excellent botched Spanish accent she does in that White Princess clip. All the typical mistakes that someone learning the language would make! Beautiful. This is amazing.
she’s literally the only non-scottish person who i have ever heard actually nail the accent, so many try and as a scottish person you can always tell but with her she’s genuinely so seamless with it
Accents are overall good but dubbing and digital ADR work fixes any obvious errors. Watch closely and listen to how different the voice audio is from the surroundings, it’s been isolated and enhanced post production.
...and then there is South Manchester (Altrincham, Wythenshawe) and North Manchester again sounding different, then we have differences in Stockport, and Salford, Urmston and of course Bolton, Bury etc its endless.
I read somewhere that the UK has something like 250 distinct regional accents, and that’s not even including the ‘new’ accents from the British born children of immigrants. And so many are next door to each other, with some completely different (such as Liverpool and Manchester) and some so similar that only locals can spot the difference, such as Newcastle and Gateshead. And of course there’s also a version of every dialect that’s for talking to anyone (so that we can all understand) or a version for talking within their own community (which no-one outside the community understands). Listen to two Scousers talking to each other and it can be almost unintelligible to everyone but them. Amazing that this is all on an island the size of the UK that hasn’t been invaded in 1000 years and does not have influences from neighbouring countries with common borders as so much of the EU has.
I’m 44 years old now and I remember “doing accents at school and different voices” but when it came to actually acting in front of anyone, I would freeze up and be terrified. I still carry huge imposter syndrome to this day with my abilities in Art work and more. Good on you for achieving all you have and long may your acting career continue.

I am not from North America, but Jodie Comer in honesty looks like Renee Soutendijk, a Dutch actress known for her role in "Eve of Destruction", "Forced March", "Spetters", "Turks' Fruit", "Cinderella Man" (not the one starring Bruce "Die Hard" Willis) and as well as the remake of "Suspiria". But while Dakota Johnson already played the lead role in the latter, Comer on the other hand would have played that role in "Suspiria" as Soutendijk's role in "Eve of Destruction" would also be rebooted by Comer too. Happy birthday, A Nightmare on Elm Street!

I'm completely flabberghasted at her talant with these accents. Like just, wow 0.0
FYI deleting all other comments about the Catalan/ Spanish correction because I pinned that correction in the comments hours after I uploaded this video and everyone not checking the comment section and repeating the same comment is driving me insane.
Being from Liverpool myself it's so nice to hear her Liverpool accent. It's become something very different in recent years.
Doing a Scottish accent is definitely one of the hardest and she nailed it.
I am in love with this woman and I am zero percent ashamed
i’m scottish and i’ve never heard anyone do such a good job of the accent
As an Italian I think her accent is pretty good! She has talent
Considering it was such a small scene she still put loads of effort to pronounce corrently! She basically sounds like a British girl who's lived in Italy for years
@@AllieOk exactly
@@AllieOk It's more like a Spaniard who speaks Italian, like Penolope Cruz when she speaks in Italian. However she (Villanelle) did not pretend to be Italian as the name she gave (Syliviana Morel) is not Italian
@@ElleAimeEtNAimePas I didn't consider that! If she actually studied how spaniards speak Italian to follow her made-up character, then that's incredible commitment from Jodie
@@AllieOk Maybe Jodie had only a Spanish language coach (who knows Italian as second language) on set for both Italian and Spanish. Surely the Italian actor (the victim) could have warned that we don't use the word "scialle" for bedspread! 🤦♀
She’s getting the recognition Tatiana Maslany didn’t get. They’re both incredible
I love Tatiana she is so underrated when I found out she played 5 different main characters my mind was blown. Same with Jodie playing a Russian assassin to read she was from Liverpool both so talented.
She's so talented .. my god .. imagine thats alot of accent .. and its not easy to do
Super talented
That's also an excellent botched Spanish accent she does in that White Princess clip. All the typical mistakes that someone learning the language would make! Beautiful. This is amazing.
Truely brilliant
she’s literally the only non-scottish person who i have ever heard actually nail the accent, so many try and as a scottish person you can always tell but with her she’s genuinely so seamless with it
and the fact that she can do both an aberdeen leaning accent and a lowlands accent? like that’s crazy
What a fantastic range of accents and languages.
Her German was perfect.
Fantastic.
I never knew she spoke Catalan in Killing Eve. Such an honour!!!
Hands-down, the best actress of her generation. Stunningly talented.
Bruh she's one of a kindd, she's ICONICCC
I smiled like an idiot through the entire video hhaahahh I love Jodie Comer so much, she's a genius. She's my favourite actress ❤❤❤
She's amazing
Accents are overall good but dubbing and digital ADR work fixes any obvious errors. Watch closely and listen to how different the voice audio is from the surroundings, it’s been isolated and enhanced post production.
Jodie is so badass when she speaks in Russian accent 🔥
Just discovered JODIE was in MMFD omgggg love her so much more now
Talent and beauty, wow, just wow.
Its crazy to me how a Liverpool accent can sound so different from a Manchester accent. they r right by each other.
it's the strong Irish accent connection that makes Liverpudlian accent so different from Manchester.
Believe me on this, there are at least 2 strongly distinct accents between the two!
...and then there is South Manchester (Altrincham, Wythenshawe) and North Manchester again sounding different, then we have differences in Stockport, and Salford, Urmston and of course Bolton, Bury etc its endless.
@@leangrypoulet7523 I would say, almost street by street in some instances, especially the boarders between estates and council areas vs private.
I’m 44 years old now and I remember “doing accents at school and different voices” but when it came to actually acting in front of anyone, I would freeze up and be terrified. I still carry huge imposter syndrome to this day with my abilities in Art work and more. Good on you for achieving all you have and long may your acting career continue.
her scottish accent is so impressive
Oh! And let's not forget her Mandarin when she kidnapped Constantine's daughter...hysterical!!
She amazing bro!
Damn she is just an amazing actress
I wasn’t looking at the caption and for about five seconds I panicked wondering how I missed Steve Harrington in killing eve
her scouse accent is so sexy 😭although its so hard to understand 😭
I feel like I've watched enough jodie videos now that I can understand it perfectly fine hahaha also probably because my mum is English from derby and so the family always watched random English soaps so I got used to the pronounciations
@@jodiecomercompilations1699 wow that's great, im not used to hear the accent before so it kinda hard to hear it hahaa, i should do more watching her videos but she kinda toned it down a bit in a some interviews. but i already watched her in help, its a very strong scouse accent i have ever heard in a movie 😄
she carried killing eve
I forgot to mention, you forgot her role as Ivy Moxam on Thirteen. Damn it I love her
I have seen thirteen! shes amazing! this isn't meant to show all her roles though just the variety of accents, and the accent she uses in thirteen and doctor foster is the same as ones shows here so didn't want it being too repetitive
@@jodiecomercompilations1699 was she speaking Brislolian in Thirteen? That's really what I was getting at haha but LOVE LOVE LOVE this video you put together. I was waiting for someone to do it so thank you very much! When she spoke Spanish on Killing Eve and Catalan, I just melted lol
@@capcarleone8271 oh right fair lmao I guess to me it sounded so similar to standard British English I didn't notice it was a whole different accent oops.
thanks so much for watching though! so happy u love it, I also made this out of frustration that no one had made one of these for Jodie so I totally get you! haha
@@jodiecomercompilations1699 so I'm trying to share this to my FB, but it won't let me download from UA-cam on to my phone. Any chance you can send me the video to my email to I can save it to my phone and post it to my FB? I'd share it from UA-cam to my FB but no one will actually click on it and go to UA-cam, you know? Or did you share it on fb maybe where I can share it from there??
@@capcarleone8271 does the share link on the vid not work or copying and pasting the link to ur status
Must be a Liverpudlian thing because the actor who did a movie with her (he played Al Capone & was the detective in Venom 2) is also very versatile. Love them both!
An incredible talent
Really quite amazing
Fantastic actress ❤
Love your video! FYI 6:20 is Catalan not Spanish!
She's a GENIUS.
I love her! Incredible talent
Okay now i need to know what the hell killing eve is and how shes doing most these on just that movie
haha you should! Killing Eve is an incredible series!! Jodie plays a Russian assassin who has to adopt different personas to fit into the environments of her victims (to explain to all accents and languages)
Jodie comer even in an episode of Midsomer murders when younger was an amazing actress and villanelle was my favourite character in killing eve.
Multi talented lady
6:20 this one isn't spanish... catalán perhaps?
Simply stunning ❤
Wow, Inever knew. Shes amazing at accents.
Shes so amazingly talented....i want to see her in more stuff.
At 6:20 is actually is Catalan, not Spanish. You can tell she is not a native speaker of both languages though.
She has such an amazing talent for accents, but I'd like to hear more of her australian one, she sounded a bit american there to me!
"You look like someone stuck a moustache on some fudge" Her one liners in the show were hilarious!
She was a spy, before she was an actor 😂
COMPELLINGLY beautiful she is absolutely PEERLESS astonishing this just the start she is ironic already
See you have actresses like dame Judy Dench and Maggie Smith both good, but this is on anther level
Other than her French, I am very impressed!
Now after watching The Batman, I want her to play Poison Ivy
One of the better attempts at an Australian accent. Not a hint of ‘a dingo’s got my baybe’ 😄
The genius is listening whilst not looking at the screen and knowing, from the inflection and speech pattern, which ones are Villanelle no matter what the language is.
Her Italian sounds like a Spaniard who moved to Italy 2 months ago. Which is closer than most British actors "speaking Italian" to be fair.
Yes, she reminds me of Penelope Cruz when she speaks Italian.
