      I didn't catch any pricing conveniently in the video.
      From what I can see, it's about £1740 (prices will vary by site).
      But it is basically just a 4070 laptop with the screen, keyboard and trackpad removed.
      You can buy an RTX 4070 laptop for about £600 less. So you're paying a 50% premium for them to give you less stuff.

      ASUS warranty issues were almost entirely in communication and upsells. They're not credibly accused of actually denying valid warranty work. The communication makes it sound like you have to agree to the upsell to get the legitimate work. But if you declined they still did the required work.
      Still shady. But not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. The far bigger problem is turn around times longer than a month. So most people would have to buy a second computer anyway.

      Thanks for your feedback pricing is a difficult to directly compared as you are talking about a unique product in the market. You will not find custom DIY options that you can build in a 2.5L form factor and offer this performance while still maintaining high speed IO and ease of upgrades for items like DRAM and STORAGE.
      The unique design requires custom design through from the chassis, motherboard and more.
      In this respect it offers compelling option for those who want a high performance gaming PC in a compact profile but without the challenges or complexity of a DIY system. We of course advocate and offer a comprehensive ecosystem for those who favor DIY and want to high control component selection and try to also reduce price aggressively by increasing size, selecting compromises on some components ( such as you will not find entry mini ITX boards with TB connecvitiy or support for three M.2 SSDs ).
      In the end this product just like our DIY ecosystem of products is not intended for every user but more so just like DIY options as well as laptops, gaming handhelds and more are target to specific users who value the total design, features, functions and specifications.
      Hope this provides some insight in the ROG NUC and its pricing.
      Lastly if you want a similar option albeit with a larger form factor you can a consider the ROG G22CH which is still compact and carries a lower MSRP but is larger.
      Traditional mini PC chassis are 15 to 18L
      ROG G22CH is 10L
      ROG NUC is 2.5L

    I don't know what they're doing with that. This thing is far too expensive. The graphics seemed underwhelming, and my understanding is that the laptop graphics chips from Nvidia use model numbers on laptops that correspond to the next lower desktop card, so that this 4070 performs as a 4060 desktop does (putting form factor and cooling aside). Okay, listen to me: I recently bought the NUC 12 Enthusiasts (32Gb+1T) for $900 and compared to the ROG NUC:
    - x0.8 CPU strength (12700H)
    - x0.7 GPU strength at x1.33 VRAM (Arc A770M 16Gb)
    - TWO USB4 ports. I was surprised to see only 1 port on this ROG NUC
    - Same 330W power brick
    What do you think? I think $3000 for this generation of NUC is batsh*t crazy!

    • @SwordfighterRed
      @SwordfighterRed 3 місяці тому

      How well does the Arc 770M generally do? I hear it's surprisingly good in some places, of course lacking in others. I don't have a good read on the general place where it stands.

    • @M419.99
      @M419.99 3 місяці тому

      @@SwordfighterRed Short answer:
      - A770M is a full desktop A770, just running at lower TDP. This is the main reason when I bought the NUC.
      - 1080p60 Ultra or 1440p60 High (except unoptimized AAA titles)
      - Frame time: some stutters/1 hour of gaming.
      - Bugs: I encountered some, can get annoying. Reinstall drivers to fix.
      I will give a longer answer below. I felt the same ambiguity before buying intel ARC so I want to share too.

    • @M419.99
      @M419.99 3 місяці тому

      @@SwordfighterRed Long answer: potentially, the A770(M) is a sleeping beast, packed with raw hardware power. However, it depends on driver support of intel & developers into the future. For example: I recently finished Uncharted 4, a DX12 game, on my NUC at 1080p Ultra averaging around 70fps. Starfield, another DX12 game, runs at 20-30fps regardless of 2K or 4K resolution. You get the idea.
      Outside gaming, it's also ridiculously good at video editing. I use CapCut to make vertical videos and 4K scrubbing is flawless, rendering is fast (1m30s video = 15s). Video editing is perfection with Arc cards because intel plays well with Adobe and DaVinci and such. On the other hand, it is hard to deploy AI models because there is little support, requiring even more workarounds than AMD cards. It's pretty power efficient though.
      In conclusion, right now A770M = 3060, potentially it can sit between a 4060 ti and a 4070, and we are talking about a mobile card with desktop capabilities. Yet again it depends so much on the future of Alchemist/Battlemage support. Essentially I'm betting on the A770M based on the fact that intel is still making cards such as A580/A750. Hopefully it serves me for a long time.

    These mini gaming PC's are just always priced wrong in my opinion. I think the target audience for these things are laptop gamers that would like some extra performance and the ability to have a bigger than 15-17 inch screen. However, these mini gaming PCs are priced like they assume you're replacing a tower PC with it and you already own a monitor and keyboard. If the RTX4070 version was priced around even $1700, I could maybe ditch my gaming laptop. However, if I'm going to get the same performance as a laptop, why wouldn't I just buy a laptop where I don't have to worry about buying a monitor too. At $1700 I can get a good monitor for less than $2000 total. Although, I'm losing the portability factor which should factor into the price too. To me, this PC is meant for someone ok with laptop performance, but would like a bigger screen without having to connect a separate screen to their laptop since that starts to take up a bit more space. If you got the space for that you probably have the space for a small tower. I dunno. I just don't understand who these PCs are really for. At the price they sell them, you're better off just getting a laptop since you'll probably get the same performance. If you have the room for a tower then you can get better performance for less money. I mean, is anyone that already has a tower PC of any size, moving to this on their next upgrade? On the flip side, I could see a laptop user making that switch... at the right price. Otherwise, they're just going to get another laptop.
