  • In this video I give my opinion of why the X-flex joint form Rough Country fails so quickly. We will break down the joint go over the failure point. In my opinion RC should add a Jonny Joint upgrade to this kit. Because this is really the only issue I have run into on this kit.
CE-9114 Jonny Joint for the lower control arms and the arm in the rear.
TFBJR16-9 is offered from trail forged it has a longer shank. Fits the same locations as CE-9114.
If you are in need of any of the other joints or have questions let me know in the comments below.

After watching your 4" inch WJ install video, i greased them every two weeks and same results in less than a year . Had side to side play after just a few months of mild off road driving and replaced them with Jonny joints and it was a night and day difference. Only complaints about this kit are the super inferior joints . The plastic bushing is made from cheap material and the grease channel is basically worthless. Overall, i am happy with my RC lift because it got me lifted for half the price ,even replacing all the joints and the long arms are pretty heavy duty for the price .

Good info. Would have been cool if you showed a Jonny Joint. I know you've talked about them before, perhaps shown them before, but would have been neat to see a comparison shot. Awesome video as always, keep it up!

Did you want to see the Johnny joint next to the RC joint or would you have want to seen the Johnny Joint broken down as well? I still have the RC joint so there is a possibility of a comparison video.

@@XtremeTruckAuto I think breaking both down would be cool. The RC joint breakdown was fun to see. Just something showing why the Johnny Joint would be stronger over time. Is it thicker pvc plastic? maybe show how the johnny joint might lubricate better, cause that thing looks like it didn't get any lube, and I know you lube them more often than anyone else I know.

Watched the replacement video then this, great videos and good info, very accurate. My joints failed in less than 10k. Even though over a year, I was offered new joints do to the low miles. Took them and put them in but I'm researching either going with rock jock or metalcloak duroflex joints for the lower control arms and a-arm. Metalcloak doesn't have a option small enough for the front upper flex joint, so will be using rock jock for them, and Trail Forge has the rock jock joints along with direct swaps for the rubber bushings. They have a spot dedicated to showing options for swapping out the RC bushings.

Grrat video. The weird thing about mine is that i greas about every oil change. When i wheeled in SoCal, never had an issue. Now that im back in the southeast, I've gone through two sets in less than two years. I'm definitely going with this upgrade.

@@XtremeTruckAuto is it the same part number for the short arm LCA on the JKU? This joint is on the axle end.

@@bargainmodder I called Rough Country and they said that the lower control arm (larger) joint on your JKU is the same as the one on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. So the part number I give in the video should work.

How many of these jonny joints do you need? 5 total? At $66 bucks a piece.

If you are looking to replace just the big ones yes 5. Those are the ones I have had issue with and replaced. The smaller one that come with the kit are still going strong. When they go bad there will be a video. I might have found mine on sale I think I paid around $55 each for 4 of them about a year ago. I don't remember what I paid for the one in this video.
