I agree, but the question is: what planet….?

61 here. Some say D.L. are DANGEROUS. Next level genuises. Elite, genteel musicians from another stratosphere. Just downright DISRESPECTFUL - and I mean that with the utmost respect to them. Who else would brilliantly re-imagine an iconic legendary song with an interlude featuring a DOUBLE BELL EUPHONIUM?! I mean...who does that? D.L. and Cory Wong and friends...that's who. And it works! Kudos to the collaboration with Cory and the WongNotes. (most of the members) These young masters of their craft are bringing it back! Unfortunately, I fear we will never hear this type of awesomeness on mainstream media or platforms, because folks today won't recognize that D.L. are expertly playing what we heard decades ago......MUSIC. D.L. gives me hope though. Right now, they really are at the top of the game with what they do. That's saying something (from an EWF, Chicago, Queen, Journey, etc., fan)

This vocalist is unreal. The band’s a knockout. The funk! The tightness!!
I'm convinced there's no top end to his range. Well maybe there is but I'm not a dog so I'll never hear it.
His vocal range and tone is soooo similar to MJ. He almost sounds effortlessly like Michael. Great choice to do a cover of his song, of course.
Being a big MJ fan he is the first singer I really enjoyed singing Michaels songs. He is a genius. The band and the Producer/Engineer Team as well as Corey. My deepest respect to all of you!
@@chambeet Naw, Dude. He is looking at Stevie Wonder doing Michael Jackson songs. Michael actually never had this vocal range. He lived off of his adlibs and his vocal stylistics. IMHO of course.
@@ih8suvs That's the best!!

Putting this in 12/8 time was a stroke of absolute genius.

Agreed!! @RickBeato needs to review Dirty Loops & Cory Wong if he hasn't already!! :) That and the INCOMPARABLE Valeriy Stepanov!!
More like a stroke of absolute stupidity.

Whoever engineered this is a genius. It doesn't get crisper, and if, UA-cam will implode.
Simon is indeed a genius.

it's a running joke that he is the invisible 4th member.

I like a lot of Simon's work, specially with Sam Kim and Lee Jin-ah but the list is long of the things I don't like about the mix etc...

Dirty Loops recorded their tracks in Sweden, Cory and his horns in the US.
Even the video was filmed in two sections, on two different continents, then visually edited together by Aron, the drummer.

That orchestrated instrumental part is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. And that ending with the vocal sustained on that high note and then the orchestral ending... incredible work.
Outstanding in every aspect - musicianship on an extraordinary level
This is like if Stevie wrote Thriller. Awesome. Jonah even donning the sunglasses towards the end. Another great one. You guys better tour with Cory and the horn section!
The drum shuffle gave me Stevie vibes as well
It all sounded familiar, and also fresh, on many levels, but only until your comment I realized WHAT familiarity it was! I love the musicality of everyone involved here A LOT and this is brilliantly executed, but still, the steadiness of the original (which is so ingrained in my brain and one thing what I love it for) is gone and I'm not yet sure how much I like this rendition - I will probably need more listens!

Bass and drums are very tight. Think they are crucial to the band!!! But everyone is amazing also.

This is another musical adaptation from another universe entirely.
It's no surprise that the great QJ signed them before anyone else did.
They're just a one of a kind band, really. A band wich figured out the delicate balance that exist when you listen to them as another musician, or just as a fan who enjoys their music. They'll rock your world in both cases.
Music has brought forth a new genre.
It's called Dirty Loops.
The bar was just raised a little higher...
I wonder when the Mothership will return to take them away....., this is truly unbelievable once again.
Rock on, guys!!!! 😎
David Foster signed them first, to Verve Records. That's their label they released Loopified on.
I stand corrected, Lorraine.
Yur right. 😉
Jeroen, I think Quincy has also “Counter” signed them to be able to Produce Legend Recordings such as this. He must have a “Dirty Share” deal signed with VERVE !!

If Michael Jackson was still on this Earth, he would have been singing in this Recording along side of Jonah. That would have propelled Dirty Loops into World Wide Stardom and Recognition. Once the world finds a way to function “Covid Normal” and Dirty Loops begins touring, it will NOT take long for them to become bigger than their Swedish counterparts ABBA (2022 Prediction)

You could be right, Paul! He's a smart man! 😀
I only cry at Joe Dispenza's meditations when I'm working on the chakras, but this piece of yours also completely ripped me apart and put me back together again. This is such a wonderful experience that I had with you that there are not enough words. If there is a musician's heaven somewhere in the Universe, if there is Michael and other musicians and singers who are no longer physically with us, but are there with God, then they are rejoicing with all of us. Somewhere in the beginning, God is sound, even so he has enormous power, music is also his instrument, it brings people together, it doesn't matter race, how rich or poor someone is, educated, healthy or sick, you can feel love, emotions from music , so thank you all very much. May God continue to bless you as he has put heart, life and talent into each of you. May God be with you even on your travels, may he accompany your steps and take care of you. Amen, thank you.

I'm a drummer and I recommend 2 advils before lunch. See your doctor before taking any prescribed medicine. That drum break at around 7 min. was ridiculous. No amount of time shredding is going to get me to that level. But then, at 83, does it matter?
it doesn't matter your kind of music. If you're a musician, when listening this band play, it's impossible not to get excite.
I was listening to a modern funk playlist on Spotify and this song came on. Listen!!! When I say that my world was turned upside down! It is VERY HARD to cover an MJ song and do it well. THIS. ARRANGEMENT. IS. TIGHT. AF!
Rarely does anyone even attempt to do a Michael Jackson song. These guy knocks it out of the park! And the band is off the hook!
Reinvented is probably a better term....or if I may correct myself...reimagined.
Again….
Most people steer clear away from covering Michael Jackson's music because Michael set the bar so high that many musicians can't match it, can't top it or equal it. And, of course, there have been a few exceptions (Boyz II Men, Floetry, Justin Timberlake). Most musicians are not humble to begin with. Anything that they do, THEY themselves want ALL of the accolades and approval for. When doing Michael's music, you'll instantly be compared to him and now you're in his shadow. Again, most musicians don't want that and can't hit the notes that Michael could sing or dance like him, so most of them back away from covering Michael's body of music. Dirty Loops and Cory Wong gave a truly loving and wonderful performance, though.
Imho Jonah's vocal abilities are far far far beyond Michael's! 🤯
Rock and roll, Pop, R&B and Rap music, especially, have historically shown that most musicians aren't humble. Fist fights, egos, stabbing their band mates in the back, deliberately destroying the band, letting addictions/ personal demons sink the group, murder and the list goes on...
They actually made the horn section shine on this one...frickin awesome!!!!!
Bassline go crazy 🔥
Wong and Loops - real musicians are still around.
Fuck if this isn't the best cover of this song I've ever heard. Classic where it needed to be, funky as shit in-between. 10/10.
Props to the 4th member of dirty loops who is just a good as the other 3, the mix engineer. Every single track is crisp AF! The best way I can describe this band is Prog Pop Funk. The perfect blend of music for the masses and the musicians. I salute all involved. 🖖

I don't get it at all. Not a bit. I clicked on the video to hear what happens when Cory Wong plays with these guys and he is dropped completely out of the mix seemingly in favor of the original Dirty Loops sound.
Seems disrespectful to a guest act to me.
In another funk song Cory starts off prominently in the mix providing funk rhythm only to be dropped way back.
Was he brought in to chase clout and views or contribute to the music?
The band is so incredibly Clean with this performance!! I honestly wish that Michael Jackson could have been filmed reacting to this rendition! I bet he would have truly loved it!!
It takes musicians of the caliber of Dirty Loops to do this song justice, and boy they do. I think MJ would approve…
I always enjoy seeing Jonah playing his original keyboard, the one that he could afford when he was younger, to always emphasize to the world that, "It ain't about the expensive, most technologically advanced keyboard that makes great music, it's all about the keyboardist."
I love this 12/8 shuffle feel...its so damnn cool for what they are doing across the bass groove. And the breaks are clean. This horn section is one of the best I've heard so far...very staccato and on point. And Aron again, just holds a tight pocket. Jonah sounds so much like Stevie Wonder, and those interludes!!! Crazy man!!!! And the outro.. Oh my God, that's so beautifulI! just love this whole bands concepts!!!!
