- E5? E10? E25? What does this mean when it comes to petrol? That’s just the Ethanol content in the petrol. But how does it affect the engine and its power? Fret not, Shumi simplifies ethanol-based petrol to a molecular level.

What are some common symptoms that my bike is not doing good with higher ethanol concentration? Noise in the engine? substantially reduced throttle response?

Waiting for that day when we have e85 or above .changing my car to have high power .
मन मे कुछ सवाल रह गए हैं। नीचे पोस्ट कर रहा हूँ। plz उत्तर दीजियेगा। 🙏
Can this reduce the cost of fuel. .....
Even with ethanol mix, I'm sure the price of fuel will still be high.
The problem is with our supreme leader
Yeah because the government isn't going to lower the taxes. The crude oil price is just an excuse they use.
no matter what we put in cars, this vishvaguru government will tax the shit out of it because theyre broke
@SmartAss *muta laughing noise*
Why can’t government start their own petrol refinery than giving to reliance ? We can get cheap petrol
This looks like the end for retro vehicles especially the two stroke motorcycles
not actually. if anything it'll help your run your 2 stroke with slightly less guilt as it is less polluting. but that being said it is a bit more rough on the engine. so one might need to use a lubricant that can work will in a 2 stroke running on a ethanol mix. unfortunately i do not think such a product exists or will exist as no manufacturer produces a 2 stoke vehicle so its not commercially viable.

@@4cfuture92 that's the thing
@@4cfuture92 yeah only connoisseur are keeping those 2 stroke vehicles now a day and those vehicle seldomly been used so its not going to be much of a hassle
@@4cfuture92 No! Ethanol will not mix properly with oil so you will have a destroyed piston and cylinder bore very quickly. You must remove the ethanol from the fuel before mixing oil in it and then using it in your 2-cycle engine.

User's dont have to worry atleast in India because most of our landscape dont have freezing temperatures.
So it won't run well at all in old/vintage vehicles right?
@@mike7297 Sadly .. Yes. Because the old fuel hose will wore out because of ethanol. But if you replace old rubber and plastic parts coming in direct contact with fuel might help. As mentioned in the video, parts manufactured after 2002 will comply.

As an normal user what should people do to take care after having ethanol in their vehicle, as current engines are not made for this capability?
Can small part change into the vehicle makes engines better to perform on E25 for long go. Like changing fuel injector in vehicle or some other parts for carburettor engine BS4 or BS6 for fuel injection or any other part which is responsible?
@@shiv_shambhu680 no modification is required in modern vehicles for E25. It is also mentioned in the video.

That's also a ethanol variant only.
The other question should be.... where is that vehicle?? I really see no user reviews at all...probably no one has ever bought it😶
No idea. There were no test bikes.

This just cleared up so many of my questions about Ethanol mixes. I love the idea of slightly higher performance because of the Oxygen in the Ethanol blend fuel. Another great video by PowerDrift/Shumi. Always a pleasure watching your videos.
Usually its lower performance due to low calorific value in ethanol as compared to petrol.
This is a propaganda video, performance and economy will drop by a good margin. These guys do videos for benefits and that's not ours
@@jalexrosh wow now everything is propaganda 😂

What happens to bs3,bs4,bs6 engines if we use e25 fuel ?
Please teach oil companies about how to store ethanols so that it does not attract moisture from atmosphere and stay moisture free, as moisture in Ethanol leads to phased separation in fuel tanks leading to engine stall.
This was the best episode of Simplified yet.
To produce a litre of ethanol 13k litres of water is required to feed the sugarcane crop. With already a downfall in the ground water table and rainfall becoming monotonous or maybe unpredictable, may be a step ahead in technology wise but economically not a viable option on longer run. This is the most under rated channel when it comes to automotive information. Everyone shows cars and bikes, but to give the information which really matters to the users in such a simple way is incredible. Love your content and love Shumi's way of delivering this content.
Thank you!
This is absolutely misinformation FYI
Shumi is that teacher whose class I always look forward to
I think for use of fuel with ethanol under E25, we just need to increase fuel injection timing or fuel injection pressure, like what we do for cold start today.
So no need to change injector hole size or do major changes in fuel system.
Nice info PD 👍
Acceleration issues might be there. Especially with high end engines that is not enough.
As the name suggests...Shumi and PD always stick to their to the point and SIMPLIFIED content... 👍👍👍👍
Beautifully portrayed and explained
what happens to carburetted motorcycles from the recent past? will they be able to run e25?
Hey Powerdrift,
What will happen to a carburettor vehicle when used with E25?
What about the emission caused from Ethanol? Will it cause more pollution than petrol or less?
less
So, can i pour ethanol in mix with petrol in my bike and use it worry free??

When I visit a petrol pump, do I have to ask for E-10 or they give it anyway?
And will it bring down the cost of petrol?
From when we can expect E-25?
No you don't get that option. Govt is making it mandatory to mix ethanol. Many state are already ahead on this. Lake Karnataka has been using e10 for a very long time.
I don't know about e25 but e20 timeline is 2025

Great explanation of ethanol.
Wondering what the future of internal combustion motorcycle engines holds; will they still be with us or in what capacity?

Absolutely love this series! It doesn't really matter but the structure of ethanol is wrong @2:54 I know it's nitpicking but a simple Google search would have helped. Pardon me, I know it's not an organic chemistry channel 😜
One of the best series that i have watched.
Really enjoyed this.
E25 is not gonna bother much to existing engines.. Agreed..
Pricing.. the main topic.
Will there be changes in prices of fuel?
What about emissions? As we burn more fuel +ethanol mixture to achieve the desired power / torque .. will it emit more exhaust gases ?
Will it drop Per ltr mileage as more fuel required to produce the power ??
Ethanol is cleaner so it should be better for environment. But mileage will drop by a small margin for sure
as long as grown crops makes efficient ethanol without affecting the base of lively hood that is water supply and crop supply, then it will be considered a alternative option to most combustible fuel.
Exactly, if this leads to a rampant clearing of forests for cultivation to cope up with demand, this won't be a sustainable shift.
@@wheelsontarmac As we've been observing since forever, the retards in the government don't think about the future.
Water is already in short supply, facing water shortage in many states, most of our brilliant population is ignorant and asleep as usual. Attribute that to the 'spirit of India'.
Crops that can produce ethanol need a large amount of water.
You don't need to grow crops specifically for ethanol, You can turn cellulose into sugars and ferment it into ethanol, Practically any form of biomass can be converted into sugars....More than ethanol Methanol is more efficient under test conditions...
If Ethanol E-100 is used how much milage can a vehicle achieve? Does the average of the car/bike drop or stands the same as the current petrol vehicle? And how much would it achieve if E-25 is used?
You are asking wrong question... How much exhaust will ethanol 100 generate and does there need to be replacements for catalytic filters?

The one and only question I have is, do petrol prices drop down by the usage of ethanol? 🙂
the short answer is - they ideally should. if you need further explanation as to "why?" do let me know by replying.
@@4cfuture92 the keyword is "ideally". Last year when the crude oil prices were at an all time low, the government basically used that as an opportunity to squeeze even more revenue without reducing the price for the customer.
As per our present govt, fuel prices will likely be the same with the govt increasing taxes even more!
The government shouldn't reduce the prices, and use the funds for infrastructure development.

Won't few parts corrode if E20 is used on E10 material compliant vehicle as current vehicles in market are neither E20 material compliant nor E20 engine compliant?
1. what is the cost comparison like, per km of travel - ethanol against diesel and petrol
2. what is India s potential capacity to produce Ethanol, i.e. up to what portion of the domestic consumption can we produce ourselves ?
What happens to the octane rating of fuel as it is diluted when mixed with ethanol. And how much of a difference would it make? Since you mentioned that ethanol is more suited for higher compression engines, does it cancel out the dilution?
Also, what about carburetted engines, simply running a richer mix should do the trick?
Ethanol actually works as a octane booster. So higher compression engines run better with E mixes
