Car Window Adjustment Using the Factory Guide Book . The RIGHT WAY! Second Gen Firebird / Camaro
Вставка

- Adjusting the windows on a muscle car can be tedious. Ill show you how to do it, step by step, using the principles outlined in the Fisher Body Manual. This is for a second gen firebird / camaro but will be very similar for any 70s era GM muscle car. Later in the video I show screenshots of the actual manual so you can pause and take a screenshot so that you can have it readily available when you do yours.
Here is another good write up:

Nice job Nate, bird is lookin awesome. Lookin forward to the maiden voyage video...😉
Window adjustment can be a pain sometimes. I learned the hard way but have a quick system now. I leave everything loose, close the door, then from inside roll the glass up loosely. Go back outside an wiggle into place where I want it, tape the glass in place from roof rail, pillar and rear quarter. Then climb back in from other side and tighten up, go back out and open/close door to double check it. Works like a charm...
Holy cow. Thanks Brilliant!!! im pinning your post so that others can get this awesome tip too!
@@HeavyPedalGarage Yep, I pretty much did what you did my first couple times, back and forth opening and closing the door a 100 times. Just kinda fell into the "tape the dogon thing in place" process cause I was workin by myself and it worked awesome...lol
Thanks for the pin, I hope it helps someone down the road...😉
I am Building a 71. Your videos have helped me immensely. Thank you for doing what you do. I do appreciate all of your knowledge.
Glad to help
This helpful, thank you. Getting motivated to change both side glasses is the hard part.
Glad it could be helpful. You are right, getting started really is the hard part.
Amazing, this has to be the best video I've seen on window adjustments for our fbody cars. Thank you for sharing and keeping it real. What I like about your videos you explain issues/struggles that will help keep us motivated to fix it. I've been 2 yrs dealing with out of line windows. It can be so frustrating. Your last statement about tilting the rear outward, magically moved the front inwards. That has been my issue. Again, Thank you and I hope you have a great memorial day.
Thank you for the kind words. That helps keep ME motivated. Glad the video could be of assistance. I definitely struggled with the patience needed to get them adjusted correctly.
You have one of the most competent, helpful videos on these doors and windows for this generation
Thanks! Glad i could help!
This is great info. My `79 driver's door needs some tweaking. I love a door that is perfectly aligned and adjusted; that nice click.
Right on!
Great video Nate. I am about ready to start the process with my 71 Camaro. Excellent tips on how to perform this task especially the tip about the negative side of velcro. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this. Helped me to adjust the windows on my 74 Esprit. 👍👍
Glad it helped!
Awesome information here. Now i know how to adjust my Camaro windows. They're so outa whack. Thanks ✌️
Glad to help
Great vid man! Helped us out a lot. We're doing a 70 and 81 camaro right now, did our first glass adjustments on the 70 today, took a while but we got it!!
@@coltin_s sweet. Glad the video helped.
After I graduated from high school, my first "real" job was in the auto glass industry. I replaced my share of door glasses. Adjusting them is a black art and requires patience. :) You did a great job of explaining the process. Well done!
Black art for sure! Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
This is what I am going to be doing in the next couple of weeks! Thanks buddy
Right on! I just gave the highlights of the process, but it took me hours and hours. After everything settled in, i came back a few weeks later and did the final tuning. good luck!
Nate that was another big time saver. I'm also restoring a 1975 Formula Firebird and this saved me alot of time. No one shows the details like you do. So thanks again. Your channel just keeps getting bigger every time I see a new video. Keep up the good work!
Glad it helped! And thanks for the kind words and good feedback> much appreciated!
very helpful!! Thank you very much
You're welcome!
I just had to do my 65 gto after a full resto, with the added hoops of an adjustable quarter vent window frame and passenger window. Took me days before i was happy with it. To think there was guys on a dark, cold production line that would have whipped them into shape in about a clocked 4 min, 35 seconds was demoralizing.
For sure! Using the GM spec and Fisher Body Book as a guide. im still not 100% happy with mine. Unbelievable how fast they could put these cars together on the assembly line.
Thanks for taking the time and doing it step by step 👍🏼
No problem 👍
Excellent video, nice job.
Thank you very much!
Keep up the good work man the bird have came a long way. Maybe one day I will be where your at on my 79 T/A, later
Right on and thanks! Just keep on doing something, even if its just a little something, and youll get there!
The car is looking good
Thanks brother. I see you’ve added to your fleet! Good stuff!
Great info. Thank you for making this video and explaining the process 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Ive been fighting mine for a while not being able to find much very helpful thank you maybe mine wont leak now with new seals and the correct adjustment! 😂😅
Sweet! I hope it all works out and the adjustment do the trick!
Worked perfectly! You're the bomb!
Thank you so much, this will help me greatly!! Great explanation!!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for the valuable information ser. Bird looks sweet.
Thanks! im glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much. Been fighting this for years and this helped
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment!
Great video man! Thanks
No problem! I hope it helped.
Omg the best video I've ever found that explains how to adjust the windows
Glad it helped! I try to make these videos in a way that captures what the DIY guys like you and me need to know to get this stuff done. Appreciate the good feedback! Thanks!
Great tutorial, thank you brotha
You bet! I had fun making it and i hope folks can get a little something out of it. Gotta keep these old cars on the road!
Excellent info , I have been playing around with my windows for some time now, your tips worked , thanks.
Glad to help! Thanks for the feedback
great work man - good vid too
Thanks. Much appreciated!
Awesome video
Thanks buddy. Just trying to do it right and share some good info for folks wanting to do the same.
Thanks so much. I had no idea how to adjust the windows in my 77 Bandit and was at a stand still not being able to put the door panels in. Onward!
Good luck! It definitely takes some time and a lot of tweaking!
Thanks so much!!!!
Glad it helped!
I just did pax side on my 70 Camaro and I must say you need a lot of patience! 😅 I wish I would of tackled driver side right after pax cus now I have to start all over to refresh on what I did on the first window. Just struggling on having the window roller handle clip to stay in place 😭
A lot of these projects takes sooo much patience. The window adjustments is definitely one of them!
Excellent job on showing how to do this. One thing I would like to know is what color is your car I love it
Thanks. The paint is Sparkling Merlot Pearl by UreChem> Ive got some other videos on the channel showing the bodywork and paint process if you are interested.
So helpful!!! I still have a ton of movement in my glass. What do you think?
Cool Thanks. What do you mean by movement?
Any recommendations on setting your window handle clip? I’ve been struggling with having it stay on. The clip that is supposed to secure the handle in place is not doing its job. I’ve ordered sets of those clips from different websites and they all end up not holding the handle in place 😭😫 please any help?! I’m losing my mind! I just adjusted my windows
I hope you can get it figured out! mine just clipped in and stayed there.
I’m not sure what’s up. Your’s is the second video I’ve seen on how to adjust the tilt. No matter how much I try I can only move the two bolts for tilt (in and out) after loosening a bolt under it. Then when I push out it pushes the window out and when pulled in it pulls the window in. Can’t get it adjusted right. No matter what I do the tilt is too far inward.
I guess I needed to type something to finally figure it out. The felt guides need to be on for the window to push on them.
It can be super aggravating! Glad you got it!
I have been having issues with my crank windows they seem to go up tighter than when they go down (window goes down easy) and with the door shut the window really doesn’t want to go up any ideas
could be the window is too tight against the seal when rolling it up..not sure.
Any ideas for adjusting the door itself ? Oh Yeah ! By the way, With the fenders on the car.
Its a super pain in the butt with the fenders off the car. Im thinking with them on, its going to be slow and methodical with a heck of a lot of trial and error... oh yea and frustration!
@@HeavyPedalGarage I'm trying to bend an open end wrench so it'll go onto the bolt.
Took me hours …. Then had to adjust them again when new gaskets settled
hours for sure! i did the same thing...came back and tweaked everything after the gaskets settled. Was good to walk away for a while anyways. Kinda maddening really.
@@HeavyPedalGarage and to top it all off … first time I washed the car after assembly …. Realized it still wasn’t sealed perfectly….had small drips running down the inside
I'm not looking forward to this this part of my resto due to the power windows. I have a feeling it will be a pain finesse it with the electric window.
I hope it goes well for you. ill admit, it can be a bit maddening. but it just takes time and a lot of patience. Walking away for a day or so helped me a lot. Lots of tweaks once it was close, to get it just right.
