  • I will show how each of the switches get installed for the dash electrical components. Headlight, wiper/washer, cigarette lighter, gauge cluster etc. You will be able to see the plug and the switch connectors so you can match up the components on you 1970s GM classic car.

    Nice information. Did two TA dashes recently, both 1981 models. The ground strap next to the headlight switch is for the main instrument cluster. You don't need to make a provision for a 3rd ground wire you talked about. Also recommended is replacement of all the light bulbs with new, especially for the main cluster as you don't want to chase old bulbs that burn down the road and force you to drop the column, disengage the speedo etc to replace a single bulb.

      Right on! Thanks for the extra info. I’m hoping to upgrade to intelitronix or Dakota
      Digital so I went cheap and reused the bulbs lol. I’m also a huge fan of redundant grounds to help avoid any issues down the road. Thanks buddy!

    For 78-81 models the lighter live wire changed from pin terminal to spade, same colours.

      I do not have a video for the stock radio. I installed a headless hideaway unit.

    Great info on dash components and assembly. Does your car have the wiring provisions for the optional gauge cluster?

    • @HeavyPedalGarage
      @HeavyPedalGarage  2 роки тому

      It does not. There was a separate harness and printed circuit for cars with the rally gauges. For rally gauge and non rally gauge cars, the fuel gauge was in a different location. Rally has a clock and a tach. Plus oil, coolant and volt gauges. The non rally car had dummy lights only for oil psi and engine temp and amps. I had looked into that since I was kinda hoping I could just buy the rally gauges and plug them in. It’s all good. I really like the intellitronics gauges. Might upgrade later on down the road.

    Do you have any videos of engine wiring from ignition switch to neutral safety switch and starter?

    • @HeavyPedalGarage
      @HeavyPedalGarage  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately not. I’m running the stock wiring harness.

      @@HeavyPedalGarage no worries at all! I am trouble shooting my 76 firebird that I picked up. The previous owner had it hotwired to get it running with a wire contact from the starter to tap the battery. I am working on reconnecting some wires and troubleshooting to get the key to turn the engine over. It gets power, but it won’t turn the engine over. I connected a new wire that was cut from the bulkhead to the starter, but I think my next play is to check out the neutral safety switch and ignition switch.

    What glue did you use for your bezel rings?

  • @loudmusicbustedknuckles6383

    Is there any way that I could purchase the original Climate Control Vacuum hoses from you? I'm resto'ing a 78' and I realized when I was taking the busted dash out for a new one that I'm missing the light blue and yellow hoses.....😅
