  • ‘Shawn Mendes Says He Encountered God Listening To Maverick City’
    Shawn Mendes was recently on the “Man Enough” podcast, and it got deep! They talked about all sorts of things. From faith to masculinity to childhood trauma. But the thing that stuck out to us the most (and a lot of you) was when he talked about listening to Maverick City and experiencing God. Did you begin to celebrate? Did you throw a party? Or were you more on the skeptical side? In today’s video we share our thoughts on that statement along with a few other things he said in the podcast. We’re excited to hear where you guys are at as well.

      I agree with you guys. He is trying to understand and realizing here is something it there especially coming from a atheist background I wish there where some way to actually talk to him show him how God works Bc he on his way as y’all said . I hope and pray he gets saved!!

      I think in these last days fewer and fewer people will get saved. These celebs usually turn out to be fake christians or outright agnostics. Yeah, we can pray for him, but I have very little hope. We know what the bible says about rich people and their likelihood to coming to faith (camel / eye of the needle). It`s nearly impossible.

      I’m excited that God is working in Shawn’s heart. Even Satan believes in God, so there is clearly still work to be done in Shawn’s heart, but it is cool to see what will hopefully come to fruition! 🙏🏻

    I definitely hope and pray that Shawn keeps searching, finds Jesus, and then develops a genuine relationship with God. However, the celebration over this clip is a bit premature, but I am still optimistic and hopeful for him.
    Also, he was so close on some of the things he shared; I really just want to sit down with him and a Bible. I hope some one in his life does just that.

He just seems like the kinda guy to be really honest with himself with how he feels about things which is one reason why I love him

    It is a seed! God does the rest! 💜🙌🏼 I was in New Age for more than 8years. After I heard Doreen Virtue converted, the first the Jesus seed was planted, it kept being watered. My children were even going to the School with the Bible and I was in New Age 😂 eventually, the right time, right moment, God pulled me in, and I repented on everything and after that, ONLY Jesus! Halleluja thank the Lord!💜

    Great job at constantly getting people back to the word of God:) When I hear spiritual it's my truth after they get some revelation usually it has to do with self not the bible I get very concern and I always try to get people back to the word because nowadays it's easy to get deceived into many spirits and falling into it.Great job at using discernment with biblical world view not this world view that's why it seems they have a hard time discernment

    I think one of the most important conversations for Christians to have at this time is to remember that emotional reactions to God, the gospel, or Jesus are not sufficient to be saved. I have seen people react emotionally to circumstances but they did not change permanently, and that makes a difference. Praying for Shawn that he finds the truth! :-) thanks guys!

    It’s very special that Shawn was so vulnerable in the interview. I don’t think that the language that he used to describe God as “higher power, universe, or Jesus,” was offensive in any way. God is such a huge thing that’s is everything and everywhere, so he’s not wrong in saying that. I still have troubles grasping the overwhelming power and being of God, and it’s kinda beautiful that we cannot even begin comprehend how amazing He is. Everyone has a different journey to God, and we just have to be okay with their pace.

    I'm so glad I ran into this clip. I feel the same way as y'all do about Shawn. I honestly didn't really fully know him until this short video thing on instagram which led me to research more and more about him. For some reason, I have a soft spot for him too, Paul. He is my little bro's age. Shawn seems so authentic and down to earth. He also seems like an old soul and like someone who would be a wonderful believer if he pushed deeper into God's truth, revelation, repentance, baptism of water and the Holy Spirit. John 3 and Acts 2. I hope and pray that the seeds grown in Shawn and he takes the time to look into who his Creator is. May this Maverick City worship encounter take him on a journey of soul searching. It was the best-greatest thing I've ever done at around 19. Now past my mid 20's, JESUS is the greatest encounter that has ever happened to me. I experienced God's great love for the first time in my life in Aug. 2013 and my life did a complete 180. I also was convicted about listening to secular music that's why I had to drop my fav artist's at the time like JB. I guess Shawn was starting out his musical career as I had surrendered fully to Jesus and my soul searching journey had come to an end. There's nothing like experiencing the presence of God. There's nothing like a genuine encounter. I know for me, that day in aug. 2013, I didn't have no music but I was so lost, broken, dark, hopeless, etc as my mom was praying over me and all I could do was cry, cry, and cry until the pain would be lifted. During that cry, it def felt like so many things left me. In JESUS name, hoping that Shawn experiences a God encounter like I did and is never the same again. For me, I searched for love and nothing and or no one could give me the love I was looking for. Only God. He filled that empty void in my heart and soul. My darkness begin to be filled with the great light of our great God. Also, I always wanted to know why I was born and what the purpose of my existence was. I loved learning. I had so many questions. The enemy used the world to rob me of so much BUT I praise my great God because His hands were over my life since before I was born. I just never knew it and Him until my encounter. I can talk about the goodness of our great God constantly. He is so faithful and so GOOD. Thank You Jesus for Your great grace, mercy, and perfect love for me. For us all. I praise You. I agree. Let us all please pray for Shawn. I truly believe that God is reaching for him. I also feel that Shawn is looking for his Creator but doesn't know how to express it. I mean, I didn't. It's hard to comprehend or put into words. It's just a deep longing for belonging. JESUS is His name.

    I watched the whole conversation with Shawn Mendes and also thought that it was very interesting. I was surprised by Shawn's self-reflection and the deep level of their conversation. Cause for me personally it is rare to hear such views from non-believers. It's like I as a christian have sometimes no idea of what nonbelievers think and have a prejudice about their mindset. But this podcast surprised me positively and taught me in some way. So basically I agree with everything you said guys :) I appreciate your videos. Greetings from Germany!

    I was reading Jude last night and loved Jude 1:22 Be merciful to those who doubt.
    I’ve seen this in a few places and it’s such a good reminder that as much as we want to correct misbeliefs in a moment like this, this is not a solid believer we can more firmly hold accountable. This is someone trying to find truth so we must be gentle and compassionate.

    Praying that God surrounds him with the right people and that the he begins to discern that Jesus is where he truly feels at home. I believe it will come with time as he continues searching. I know myself when I was initially truly seeking a personal relationship with God, I used to do yoga and meditate and had no idea it was actually the occult until my cousin made me aware! Straight away I gave it all up but I really identify with what you said Paul about the 'pieces' you pick up along the way. With me once I had the right people around me and I was genuinely seeking God for myself I was able to discern what was of God vs of the world. So let's just pray there'll be people around him to encourage him and like with me, call him out when he's maybe going off track. I know he's good friends with Justin Bieber (ok not an ideal person to guide him) but I think that JB could definitely guide him to seeking Jesus which is a step in the right direction right?

    With what you talked about regarding Shawn Mendes, my take on it is that for Shawn Mendes to be saying that publicly is commendable and I understand why some people got excited as he is a celebrity that people look up.
    I pray and hope that he finds the truth about Jesus and receives that truth and nothing else because often times as people generally we may want to receive some parts of the truth and not the whole truth of who God is...Love from Botswana 🇧🇼

    I feel like this is a first step for him, hopefully from the sense of recognising that there's a 'higher power' out there he'd come to realise that that's God. Considering he grew up atheists I find it to be quite a big step that he's starting to realize considering he doesn't have people to help him; I just pray the Holy spirit convicts him to be interested.
    At this point he's just being open to every religion which I guess is the first step considering at this point he's clueless lol

    Really reminds me of the parable of the sower “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, tthey withered away. Other seeds fell among uthorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some va hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.”
    I had a friend at uni who seemed to believe in Jesus at the same time as I was believing in Jesus and walking away from he world.. but it was quite short lived.. she cried and spoke about Jesus for a few weeks…but soon let the idea of living for Jesus go and went back to the world…

    Can you guys make a video about Natalia Taylor? She has been vocal about her faith and she recently got engaged to a boyfriend she has been living with. They made a video about their relationship and they were both saying putting God in the center of relationship was what kept them together. But I have A LOT of question marks for them. HOWEVER, they came from a very low place of being a drug addict, so perhaps they're still learning about what it means to truly follow Jesus. So if you make video about it please don't talk down on their faith and do it with love🙏 I would love to hear what you guys think of them:)

    My only thing is when people say they’re spiritual vs. they say they’re religious are two different things. A lot of people say they’re spiritual meaning they believe in some form of a higher power but don’t care enough or want to figure out any more. If someone says they’re religious however, that’s a different story meaning they believe in whatever and will follow it. Shaun kinda sounds like he’s just saying he believes there’s something out there meaning he’s be considered spiritual.

    I usually don’t get triggered, but when you said, “we welcome Shawn. God welcomes him.” What?!
    Who do you guys really think you are? That first part says so much about how you have put yourself above others. You’re not gate keepers. You don’t get to welcome Shawn into Jesus lol. It doesn’t matter what you believe or how strongly you believe it. God has the final say and ONLY He can accept or reject someone eternally. What’s sad is that he won’t get to the revelation of Jesus and the truth till he experiences the darkness of the enemy…. this happens because he wasn’t raised properly like most of us weren’t , into knowing god through the Bible. Maybe when he experiences fear in paranormal dream after meditating because he’s opened the portal to demons, will he ask for the truth to be revealed of Jesus. It’s sad because he’s pretty much heading into new age without even knowing and believing he is getting closer to Jesus but it’s the devil, Lucifer.. I know because I was deceived like him for like 2 years thinking I was communicating with god and angels and I was so wrong. God revealed the truth in a dream after I prayed about it and threw all new age stuff away. I never willingly would have been into if I had read into what new age is and opened the Bible to see the truth. I was mixing Jesus with new age and he did not approve.. I also believed I was free spirited, open minded and that we are all one with the same god no matter what religion etc. may Jesus open his eyes sooner than later 🙏🏼

    Maybe it's just me, but I honestly don't think it matters in the sense that what we think will affect said celebrity, or artist. It's up to the Christians in their actual lives, people who actually interact, and talk to them to help them know God. I think we as christians just on the internet, social media really need to stop looking up to literally anyone, and listen to our pastors, and study our bibles plain, and simple.

    • @larevival4074

      Hello, Christianity is not a religion but an encounter with Jesus which leads to a changed life (born again). Jesus reveals Himself through the Bible to a humble heart. As an atheist have you asked God to reveal Himself to you?

    • @LilyEve100
      @LilyEve100 3 роки тому +3

      @@larevival4074So basically you experience an encounter with jesus and then that’s what draws you to Christianity? I just think so many factors are in play as to why we believe the things we believe. For example, if I were born in turkey id probably be Muslim, or if I were born in the Philippines I’d most likely be catholic. Kinda similarly to how many times children are of the same political mindset as their parents. But no I’ve never tried to seek out god or Jesus into my life, because I don’t believe that a god or Jesus exists. At least not in the way the Bible describes it.

      I would love to answer this as well because it’s a great question. I have chosen Jesus Christ over any other god or religion for several reasons, but one of the main reasons is His resurrection. Christ’s resurrection validated all of the claims that He made (including that He is God). If He had not raised from the dead, my sins would not be forgiven, I would perish when I die, I would have no hope for eternal life, and I would not have the opportunity to know my Creator intimately, and live in righteousness and peace.
      In knowing Christ, there are eternal blessings and benefits. God’s love for us is revealed in Him. He is a welcoming, loving Savior.

    I think if you do believe that he had a revelation when hearing Christian music, and then he felt the same thing with the mantras, then isn't that telling of the fact that both are hitting on the same truth, the same "homeliness"? I don't understand why you dismiss the second (being pretty disrespectuful to that religion, i felt) but keep the first. I think it's interesting that both inspired the same reaction. To me it might mean that either the two are not so different as you say they are, or that neither are completely right about God but have managed to hit that nugget of gold in their exploration of God which is what Shawn heard in those songs.
    I'd encourage you to listen to this trying to learn something new rather than seeing whether he's going to get it "right" by your standards. You might be surprised at what happens when you open your listening to that possibility, I know I have been.
    And yeah, being open to being wrong and to be corrected is great. I think that's a skill you still need to cater to. But i did enjoy the video!

Your facial expressions while being rude and disrespectful in your responses. Saying you are a "bubble burster" is a way to justify being judgmental and not showing grace. I've watched many of your videos over the last several weeks and you always speak truth from scripture, then follow with judgmental comments as though there is this "holier than thou" perspective. I am just saddened by how invalidating someone's experience can be wrapped in such a pretty package. I will be praying for whatever darkness is in my heart to come to light, and the same prayer for you both. So does God only speak through certain types of music or through music from only certain countries/cultures? How else is God supposed to reach Indian people except through their own music?

    • @AlyshaAdele
      @AlyshaAdele 2 роки тому

      My interpretation was that the music (by Justin Baldoni (sp?)) Shawn (sp?) was moved by was not merely Indian music but is specifically apart of a different religion. According to another commenter here, his music is apart of the Bahai (sp?) faith. That being said I believe that Christians should be respectful of Christian worship as it exists in various cultures (ie Christians worshiping the Christian God in their own language/style of dance/music). That is alot different than saying that God is speaking to you through the music of a different faith, as Shawn was saying. I feel Paul & Morgan may have some room for improvement in this area though in that they skated over the difference between cultural music styles vs. worship of another religion, perhaps under the assumption that everyone would equate the term “mantras” with non-Christian religions, not to mention inaccurately referring to the majority religion of India (being approx 80% Hindu) as being Buddhism. I do not expect anyone to know everything about everything but Hinduism is the 3rd largest world religion and India has a population of nearly 1.4 billion people. That being said this clip of the video displays some ignorance, and might have been better fact-checked and then edited out due to the error. I feel it just detracted from their argument. My apologies for trying to clarify on their behalf, I just did not feel right glazing over your comment feeling as though this particular christian couple was saying there was anything wrong with Christians worshipping the Christian God in other languages/styles of music/etc. That would just be so wrong and unbiblical! I do not believe that is what they meant at all. Hope this helps.

    Hey lovely guys. I have a weird hypothetical question. Suppose that there was a righteous person, preaching the word of God, evangelizing with the best intentions in his heart - but unintentionally turning many people away from God. And then suppose another person, say a Hollywood producer who wants nothing but to make money and leads a terribly unwholesome lifestyle, but who incidentally produces a show that genuinely starts bringing millions of people to the word of God… Do you think these two people would be judged by their intentions? Or their ‘results’? 🤔

    • @NS-zs3sg
      @NS-zs3sg 3 роки тому +1

      Neither.. judgement will be on our actions and our hearts: whether we submit our whole life (heart mind and soul) to Christ and his kingdom alone. Recognizing sin and turning away from it... there will be many that say "Lord Lord" ("good people) on judgement day but will hear "depart you worker of iniquity I knew you not" 🤷‍♀️
      So, interesting hypothetical but I once heard it described this way ( by Keith Green I think). If you (people in general) don't desire to be in God's presence and honoring him now what makes you think when you die you'll want to spend eternity in his presence? It's a matter of the heart. To often we equate heaven as our goal: getting to heaven, I'll see my family I'll see my pets I'll play a round of golf I'll ride a harley down those streets of gold.....Heaven is not our destination holiday location...Heaven is just the place where we will be with our Savior.
      Again great hypothetical, which was directed at Paul and Morgan, but it makes you think. And I hope my awnser makes you think too.

    • @ashlynnbrasfield6181
      @ashlynnbrasfield6181 3 роки тому +1

      In regards to your first hypothetical:
      Acts 18:24-26
      24Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures. 25He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit,d he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
      If the person has a genuinely pure heart for the things of the kingdom of God, then God, who is good and kind and merciful, will always give an opportunity for the truth. Paul had an actual, real encounter With Christ, but here you see two people of God who heard his zeal, and shared the true gospel with him. It’s much the same way today; we just need to be more willing to speak the truth and preach the full gospel to people who are “seeking” and “close” but not quite there. We’re just not a very bold society and live in fear of offending our culture.
      To answer the second hypothetical, the man has no love or desire for God. Just because his tv show led thousands and thousands of people to Christ does not get him into heaven. Unless he himself has a changed heart and turns away from his sinful lifestyle, he will be judged accordingly. Salvation is not works based. You cannot work yourself into heaven through others coming to Christ, doing good things, etc. Works (evangelism, service to others, showing hospitality, etc) are a byproduct, the fruit, and the evidence of a changed heart, and salvation is the free gift of grace from God.
      A relationship with God, desiring the things of God, and putting the Kingdom of God first is what our focus should be on. Everything else just flows from that. Hope that helps and makes sense. 🥰

Same hypothetical, but in stead of thinking 'how would they be judged' - If we imagine ourselves from the sideline watching these two men (and somehow knowing the mentioned consequences of their actions) I wonder if we would feel some kind of regret toward the first example. Happy that he is walking with the Lord, yet sad to see that he turns away people from God unintentionally. And at the same time feel joy for example number 2 - Feeling sad, of course, seeing how he has no relationship with God, yet relieved to see that he somehow caused thousands and thousands to seek the word of God? I wonder if you see where I am going with this? I find it hard to express myself clearly

Ok moving on; I hope you guys would try to at least put yourself out there to understand some things. Make friends of color or different religious backgrounds. The reason I say this is because in India they also have Islam and despite what the media tells us, Islam kinda is like Christianity. I would even go as far as saying that the thing that makes us different is because where we believe Jesus is the son of God. They believe Jesus is real but they also believe he was a prophet not the son of God.... now I’m saying I believe it but there is something to it. That I’m not also saying we should understand but more should know about.
