RIP my man Ralphy, ran head-first into a robot against my squad's orders
When I completed the original wasteland 2 before the directors cut, I went into the final battle with Rose, Pizepi Jordan, and Chisel. In my current game playing the directors cut, in which I have already been to LA and recruited all 18 characters, I am using Vulture's Cry, Takayuki, and Scotchmo. I find that most of the NPC characters can become pretty powerful if you take the time to level them up and build their skills. I also choose my NPCs solely based on filling in skills that my squad lacks. So I use Takayuki for his Demo skill, and a 2nd bladed weapons, Vulture's cry for outdoorsman and animal whisperer, plus she is now a great 2nd sniper and 2nd energy weapons user, and I've stuck with Scotchmo who has actually become quite handy with safe cracking and lockpicking (with help from the cat burgler mask trinket,) and also makes a good 2nd shotgun man and is the only blunt weapon user in my squad. It's amazing how much damage highly skilled and high strength blunt weapons and brawlers can do in this game. My blunt weapon girl this playthrough, as well as Rose on my original playthrough can do almost 200 damage in a 2 AP attack. Likewise on the first time through Chisel could do that amount of damage with blunt weapons, and right now Scotchmo is getting so he can hit people pretty damn hard with blunt weapons as well. I like having vultures cry trained as a 2nd sniper and a second energy weapons characters, because she can really blow the shit out of people with her sniper rifle, along with my main sniper, and when I'm up against conductive targets I then have 2 rangers who can dish out deadly blasts of energy. I was gonna recruit pistol pete to replace scotchmo, but unfortunately because I did some of Dengler's quests in Rodia to get the most XP out of the town before turning on the leather jerks, Pistol Pete refused to be in my squad because I was "technically" working for dengler. Before the Directors cut you could avoid this misunderstanding by leaving pistol pete out of your squad while you did a few quests for the jerks and then blew them away, but it has been patched, and even if you leave Pete in Santa Fe Springs for the Rodia quests, he will still refuse to join you If you do any of Dengler's quests. Unfortunately Pete was carrying my cat burgler mask and some other valuables and so my squad was forced to blow him to bits to get the items back. Pete's wife just says "oh I wish Pete were here to see all of this (the reformed Rodia.)" I think the game is assuming that Pete somehow died in combat or something and doesn't realize that I shot his ass to get my stuff back. Hopefully when I finish this playthrough the game's ending won't figure out that pete was gunned down by squad echo, and will just assume he died while fighting off the leather jerks lol.

Scotchmo is a cleary reference to the film hobo with a shotgun man i cant get enough with those easter eggs another one that i discovered is a merchant just before the temple of titan that sell the three amigos setup from the movie too
on xbox one there is an achievement for having 3 squad members dressed in the amigo costumes

It really sucks that Rook, La Loca and Ashley have no unique phrases. I'd like to retain them until the end, but I'm sure Gary Wolfe has more quotes.

*PSA #2:* You do _NOT_ necessarily need to send the nuke to the Diamonback Militia to get Gary NaCl Wolfe. You can disarm it as well. Just be sure to first refuse Sadler with "NOT LOOKING", and then massacre all the monks (which you should do anyway - for the massive xp).
If you refused Sadler with NOT LOOKING, did not kill any Diamonback Militia whatsoever, and massacred all the Monks, I guarantee you will get Gary NaCl - regardless of whether you send the nuke to the Militia or disarm it... and you really shouldn't give the Militia an armed nuclear ICBM :)
He really is the most difficult companion to get, but well worth it imo.
No. I don't remember the details anymore, but I'm pretty certain you can't.
I think the 3 recruits from LA become recruitable after completing quests from certain areas. Angel Oracle gives Ertan, and Rodia gives Thomas, I think.
The best recruit is the Puppy in Hollywood, he's a good boy
besides my starting 4 Rangers, I'm using Vultures cry, Brother Thomas and Takayuki

After watching your video I tried with 1 custom, V's Cry, Ralphy (I gave him Assault Rifles as enemies are always far to run for), Scotchmo, Takayuki (gave SmG), Pizepi and Chisel (gave Heavy weapons). PP-81 sucks, and MP5 is long way to get my hands on. The real problem is Chisel is too low-experienced to maintain Hard Ass and Brute Force. Is there a problem if I change him for La Loca?

I got into one fight with ertan and knew that was the last time I was using him as a fill in
To try and get Gary(getting to DBM without getting attacked cause of a mosh escort) I killed the Moshroom guys at the gate instead of taking a Mosh guy to the DBM base but how do I progress the story if im not allowed to take the DBM offer and I killed the mosh guys at the first gate?

Same! I kept that robot alive throughout most of the game - reloading if he ever got killed. PITA but he had great damage!
I prefer Ralphy, pistol Pete, and ertan as I typically don't go into toaster repair, bartering, or animal handling and the other ertan is a combat monster

I'm having trouble recruiting brother Thomas, I'm already at Hollywood and no sign of him...

I ended up having my three main characters with
1. Ralphy who replaced Vultures cry
2. Takayuki who I wanted to get rid of to have someone else in my team
3. Scotchmo, even though he had the same gun class as one of my main characters he was funny
4. DAN Q because he was really fun to have in the team
I wanted to have pizepi and lexicanian in my team but I had ran out of space and I didn’t know who to get rid of and when I got rook I got rid of him, I was afraid he would go rogue but I got lucky. Wasteland is probably the best rpg game I’ve ever played.
I rejected the offer from a npc for joining the party at the first contact but wanted to recruit at a later point of time, is this possible? Couldn't find Ertan and Brother Thomas after the first contact.

I got one of the recruit (Takayuki) and head back to the citadel and than dismiss him. At first I just go out into the map and return to the base, the recruit were waiting in the lunch room, but after came back from the rail camp, Takayuki disappeared and he was nowhere to be found inside the base. What should I do to prevent this bug?
Some npc are in cooking area, some are in museum

Did he already show up in Santa Fe Springs? If so, he might be in the radio room with Woodson. If not... Wiki says he appears after completing Cerritos.

I thought when I played this long ago if followers didn’t join you’re party the return to citadel? But I have loss Angela death. And now chisel. 🙄 am I missing something? I dismissed them to trade for another follower and Ralph’s is gone also and can’t even talk to him. 😔

Vax is a glass cannon, he hits hard but hard to keep alive (50HP). Good for fighting against robots because vax shoots strong energy beams.
What Kanav Kohli said. He is also very prone to hitting your guys with "Friendly" Fire, so be careful using him. He also probably won't last until the end of Arizona.
@@lluewhyn YUP HE DOESN'T LAST LONG, i tried keeping him alive as long as i could but he kept dying in the California mission where its a trap when they say there is just 1 robot there...but instead its an ambush....i never could get vax out of there alive
@@kanavkohli794 Shit, so i will have to face that and lose him... Well i managed to get through harder problems on Fallout 2 so ill probably fix that one also.

From a quick search, I think Vipula is Pizepi. Her location is shown at 7:00.
@@CaedoGenesis i saw one post somewhere that suggested that too, but they have different stats and skills.
@@theshadowcult Some of the characters were changed pretty dramatically from beta to director's cut, Angela especially who used to be level 14 when first recruited. This might also be the case with Vipula who by the sounds of it, was in the beta and changed after.

Going with Pizzapie for energy wpn. Taki for xplozivs and the Lexcanion boy for extra robot convertion... next run on supreme jerk maybe going for vultures cry, car cane and... someone with intel cause scoth is not fast lvling.
Fulfilled all the conditions in the canyon except charisma but nacl still did not appear.

You understand that if your Skill Monkey has Surgeon 1 and Field Medic 1 by/at level 4 you really don't need Rose at all, right? And why wouldn't you have those two skills by level 4? It's not like the Skill Monkey you've built actually *NEEDS* higher than Mechanical Repair 3 (for Handyman), Alarm Disarming 2 or Computer 2 (just so she can perform her basic functions) before you go to the Radio Tower ... but even if you *DO* take Surgery and Field Medic, you still have 2 leftover skill points by level 4 with the build you currently have for the character (I usually put those two points into Energy Weapons, just in case ... and looking forward to the Honey Badgers in the mine later on).
Seriously, why would you bother taking Rose at all? Certainly it couldn't be for her Pistol skill; you keep hiding her away from combat anyway, which makes her a complete combat *LOAD,* just like your skill monkey is through most of the early game.
Seriously: if you want someone who can take out people wearing conductive armor, I can see giving the science geek levels with energy weapons ... eventually. But wouldn't it be better to give her *SOME* kind of *actually-useful* weapon skill early on? She's certainly got skill points to burn; why not start her out with a couple of levels of Pistol or SMG? You needn't give her any *more* levels in that skill, but it would definitely be more beneficial to the squad early on if a quarter of the team was useful for more than carrying loot.
I personally go with ten intelligence on all 4 mains. Don’t really need any recruits for skills, so I just choose the ones I like, brother Thomas, pizepi, and vultures cry or chisel
I know this is 5y old but there is another campaign at the prison you need to resolve it peacefully though I forget tho what state they have and they do act like a dog
Well, what about dialogues? For example i didn't know you could let those sitting guys in rangel citadel join you.. Scotchmo's dialogues are fuckin amazing, he is so funny man.. Rose is quite logical and i loved her dialogues so much. She's always telling the best thing to do in a situation. Lexiconium is boring as hell, i also didn't like his dialogues. Takayugi the japanese brawler guy, he is so dull. He is talking gentle but acting like a superior dick. Let me beat this, can i kill that drug dealer now etc etc. He is always talking big as if he is the strongest in the universe. When running around in arizona i was expecting more and wiser dialogues from angela.. She isn't talking that much. In arizona Vulture is talking in an allusive manner most of the time. I dont know how she is in la..
To sum it al up, if you guys find the game easy and dont have any problem letting scotch mo in your squad you should definitely have him.. shotgun is not that usefull imo but his dialogues are funny as hell..
They make it ridiculous to get new followers in the game. Black mark on an otherwise good game.

Depends, i think fighting is far better on this game. World map and cities are lot funnier on Fallout2
