Lucia is really good if you know how to use her...with the right equipment, she can legit be your main killer
She's very good at shooting handguns for me and would almost never miss a shot, but I traded her for Ironclad since she also almost always get downed and consume amounts of med hypos
Lets see, for the purposes of combat and overall utility here my opinion.
1. Ironclad Cordite. Is bulky, has a build in range attack and cybernetics perk. Essential in certain routes.
2. Lucia Wesson. Precision strike queen. She has a lot of dialogue that correlates to the main missions.
3.Vic Buchanan. Highest crit chance ceiling.
Also has dialogue specifically main quest related.
4. Scothmo. You can probably create a better way of the squeezins character but this one has dialogue and interactions.
5. Fishlips. Has highest damage potential with crit(but weaker due to stats in useless skills) Funny dialogues
6.Marshal Kwon. Only reason he is here is cos you get him early so you’re probably stuck having him.(dump kiss ass on him, thats all he is good for)
7. Pizepi Joren. Just like Kwon but you get her late. She’s green i guess?
8. Pvt. Jodie Bell. Come on, make a better sniper character with deathwish or sadomasochist. Her dialogues are generic and has nothing to do with the story.(I let her die my second playthrough lol)
I just felt like making a list so people know which companions bring for main missions and stuff. You can bring more than 2 and i suggest you do that, makes the game livelier.

I agree hard on Jodie, like she seems nice and all but like I always make a sniper and my sniper is also one of my most reliable units I rather have a slot of a character that can kill and actually hit shit

Already finished the game 2 times and never knew this scotchmo dude was a thing
do not underestimate wesson her Small Arms Plus a guardian pistol is serious business and at 3 AP a pop
I gave her weird science as well so she can use the elemental pistols. Puts out serious damage
Maxed out luck and had her criitig for 900-1200 damge per hit
Agreed, with my "Preferred" playthrough and getting what I personally consider the best ending, she was invaluable. Low AP/ high Accuracy gunslinger and she was downing multiple people during her turn. I preferred using her to finish off enemies I hit with either larger Heavy Weapons, or striking critical 1 hit kill targets. (Flame Tanks / CPU Robots)
I haven’t finished the game yet, but IMO Lucia just constantly proves time and again she’s the single best companion in the game.
She gets her panties in a twist if you kill ppl tho, she will literaly just up and leave your party in the middle of combat xD
Since you get her early on top of crutchy revolver, and most late game sniper & rocket use small arms, and barter is actually important early game, yea no reason why
Kwon is also almost mandatory
Melee fighters are just difficult to use or even develop, on top of getting them WAY later in the game
Lucia and Vic Buchanan, because they bring most relevant exposure. I tough Ironclad Cordite would be more interesting than he ended up actually being tough.
Lucia is op af, especially with an upgraded revolver
Ikr, marshall kwon + Lucia is really good
She also works great as a shotgun leader. just pump her COO and CH. Her quirk gives her a higher strike rate so she can basically strike every turn on max CH.
Yeah for someone who never shot a person in her life, she was my Mid-range multi targetting DPS only outclassed by my Crit built Sniper Avatar.

If vic had a better stat spread then he'd be the perfect heavy weapons expert.
I got Scotchmo since I found him entertaining in Wasteland 2. Also, I love how he gets special attention with animating him like other major NPCs.
Pizepi was a surprise. She's from WL2 as well, as her inquisitive personality was appreciated for my playthroughs.
I love the both of them , it’s a shame pizepi came very late into the game.
Of the 8 in my playthrough I killed both Fishlips and Cordite, arrested Vic and had no need for Jodie. Among the remaining 4 I missed Scothmoto until late game at which point there was no point to use him and I kept Kwon up until I rushed Aspen to get Pizepi and had her as an AR/SMG user and kept Lucia for small arms and revolver though I did later spec her for AR and switch out her revolver for a pistol.

Wesson was my top 3 companions she is a savage late game easily hitting 1k with her crits
Lucia is incredibly versatile but the upgraded revolver is a must for late game.
@@norzza Small arms applies to shotguns and they are incredible, aoe attacks in this game alone with a coordinated squad could end a battle against ten hostiles in one turn. having an effective close range squadmate is important against enemies like the dorseys and wildlife. Then I assign my melee to weird science since theres gear that gives you really effective aoe attack abilities.
Vic is a lot of fun to have around.
Honestly I wonder how he interacts with his father and siblings if you got him first, just imagine Valor being "WTF are you doing here!?"
2:20 she is also literally the weakest, with 1 STR. Boost it asap if you don't want her keeling over from a stiff breeze(lucky that CON per level is retroactive on boosting STR).

@elijah mikle The game at higher levels gets weird. The damage scales higher than the armor can keep up with, meaning that every fight usually ends up being a case of Rocket Tag. And if you don't manage to get the first strike and kill/disable several opponents, you're boned usually. It's really bad on the penultimate area of the game, you enter a bar and the enemies start the fight and can effortlessly shred your party to bits on their turn if you're even moderately unlucky. Even the best armor in the game doesn't really help and you don't get that till near the end. And then you have to mod it with a kit that boosts it's damage resistance to explosions and the like(the sixty percent variation, combined with high Explosives skill and it's relevant perk you can sport 85% to 100% damage resistance from every form of damage in the game save physical).
@@otakon17 Its not even the values themselves that become problematic,especially since technically the enemies have lower damage then your armor with mods.The biggest problem is that they forgot to balance pen on late game enemies.This means even if your rocking the best armor and resistances something like a regular mook scrapper can beam blast your ass and destroy you effortlessly,especially if he crits.
If late game enemy penetration was toned down,or armor was scaled up significantly,this problem would solve itself.
@@bearandthebull2372 Exactly. Armor needs a rebalance for later levels. Hell, maybe even have it add HP depending on the grade of armor you have equipped.
Lucia Wesson reminds me much of Mattie Ross from the movie "True Grit". Her character, her looks and even her voice.

Lucia Wesson's WEAPON MODDING isn't a total waste as you can bump it up a bit and get the AMMO increase Perk that can save you some significant money in terms of Rockets and the more expensive ammo types (assuming she's in your party while opening ammo crates).
Is there an option to respec companions? I can do it only to my chars that i created myself :(
Give Lucia a descent revolver and she'll become a good dps companion. Scotchmo is my go to shotgun rusher and iron clad is my front melee.
Ahh, I didn't have a Sniper when I first played so Jodie Bell got her throat slit when I tried to attack the guy holding her captive. So unfortunate
Small arms is one the best choices because of shotguns strike and the pistols strike rate build up
What does “Highlight fill” do in the options? I’ve turned it on/off but don’t notice any difference.
I THINK that means when interactable items are highlighted its not just an outline the whole object is colored, but im not sure i havent tested it
Hey, I freed Ironclad and got to the dialogue option to add him into the party, but I didnt un equip gear from my other companions yet so I canceled out and went back to HQ assuming he would be there. Well he wasnt so I went back and now there are SUPER strong mercs guarding him and idk if hes even there anymore do you know if he goes back to HQ or anything?
I did the same, he was wandering around in the mess hall.
Like James said, if you chose to let him join the rangers, but didn't put him in your party, you'll find him in the mass hall, arguing with the hobo with the difficult name to spell. I think all companions hang out there when you're not using them
Among all the companions , the best ones with great perks are only lucia wesson and scotchmo , wish the other companions have quirks.
I have played about 10 hours so far. Max difficulty. Do this companions have specific quest like in divinity original sin2? I have not seen the full video in case of spoilers, and I had to create companions after lucia because I needed 6 people in my crew. Any help? Thanks!
Unfortunately they don't have quest lines like in DOS:2

Lucia bugged out on my first play, in little hell before I would clear the last room of mobs she would just leave after the fight. Went back tried to leave her at Hq came back and got it again then got a random encounter with drools and she left me after the fight again lol drools got to her I swear
I hate the start of the game because i didnt know that Jodie Bell is a Companion. Now i missed her the whole game :( Rest of the game is so fantastic, but this kind of little thing made me sad.
she's a good sniper but a pretty uninteresting companion compared to the rest, youre not missing much
Kwon is my dude, cot dam super cop in my play through.
I haven't played much, but in my mind with having a weapon modder on hand, I can mix and match my loadouts while on the go, I just don't have the patience to wait until I'm back at base to mess with my guns, same goes for armor modding, HOWEVER, I have no idea how they work, I'm just basing this on presumptions.. please let me know if I'm wrong or any advice would be appreciated
I found Scotchmo in the Same area as fishlips in one of the rooms tho I didn't get fishlips I bypassed the fight I didn't know he could be a companion at the time
I saw him there too, even though I'd already recruited him at HQ.
Scotchmo will only appear once you recruit the chef at the Bizarre. Until you do, your mess hall isn't repaired and he won't appear.
I actually like to have things like Barter/ Armor and Weapon modding on my main group. Now for one, I understand this game so well that I always end up way too powerful for the game to be challenging in the slightest, so it doesn't feel like I'm wasting my points. Also, the constant back and forth trekking and going through the motions of upgrading gear - be it modding or buying is annoying as hell.
small arms is amazing i am playing on highest difficulty and lucia is dishing out tons of damage all you need is know how and a proper build.
Tbh you don’t even need that 100%, I haven’t made it past heads or tails quest yet cause i kept restarting not feeling right on lower difficulties due to it not challenging me enough and I finally made myself do a supreme jerk play through, lucia is my finisher for sure, along with my leader because he also uses revolvers, but I barely know what I’m doing when building characters and just kinda winged my lucia build pumping her str for health mostly at this point and raising her barter for the barter perks and she’s still unbelievable. Can die easy on this difficulty if you’re not careful but they usually shoot my pyro or smg nerd character anyways so she just sits safely in a corner finishing people off left and right
Adam Parkinson imo the best build for an executioner is a custom ranger with automatic weapons, wired since, toaster repair. Background goat killer and serial killer quirk.
I assigned Major Tom cat to him (extra 12% crit chance and got a radiation buff another 10% crit chance)
I let the others attack first and let one weak enemy alive so this ranger can finish him off. this grants me another 6 AP almost each round and allows me to get 4-5 attacks killing multiple enemies in one turn. you can mod your smg to deal fire damage bypass all the armor, and deal serious single target damage due to lots of crit attacks.
Yeah. Not to worried about this min/maxing shit. Got a pyro with heavy, toaster, weird science and armor mod, an smg nerd with smg, mechanics, nerd stuff and first aid. A leader with small arms, explosives, hard ass and leadership, a sniper with sniper, sneak, animal whisperer and lock pick then lucia and kwon, lucia has her 4 og skills and uses revolvers and shotguns and kwon uses Ar’s and energy ar’s so I threw weird science on him. Got to level 10 today and haven’t even lost 1 fight and I did the irv clones WAY too early especially for supreme jerk. Just make characters that are fun to play. This games easy as long as your builds somewhat synergize its the right level of challenging you don’t need to min/max or know exact shit. Just make things that are fun and somewhat go to together unless you’re trying some sort of “nobody can even get downed” run. This game is so easy compared to wasteland 2 you don’t need to be specific with builds it really leaves a lot of room for freedom and flexibility like an rpg should so in that respect I think its much better then wasteland 2. I haven’t beaten it so cannot say for certainty that it is. But so far I think it is a much better rpg then wasteland 2’s stupid min/maxing style where you need 4 ar users on every squad because its the only useful gun in combat next to a sniper
I really waited long for Wasteland 3, and was excited. But i'm kinda dissapointed it was so short :( I've spent way more time on wasteland 2 in order to simply complete it.

Hi , I want to ask what "Strike rate " benefits ? I mean how does it work
Your special "blue attack" is charged via strike rate. Useful as usually it is a wide cone of death or single precision strike that has 100% chance to hit
I got the bad ending went in blind loved the game the constant crashes even on xbox series s was a huge issue
Finished the game with only Lucia and Kwon as companions, except for the end cause I let Lucia Go to deal with his father.

What about the the chicken robot or the toaster are those not companions?
Companions are human NPCs you can directly control. Such as machines a clone random humans animals etc are marked as yellow and controlled by the game. And their turn begins after the player has made all it's turns. They're pretty handy as the enemy AI prioritizes your allies over your own units at least that happened in 99% of my fights.
And their limit I don't know at some point I had about 3-4 of them besides my 6 man team which provides a good bullet sponge :D
Huge downside to having allies though, even pets, is if they refuse to get out of the way of your truck, and you have to pick between running them over, or fighting without your OP truck (had a pet just sit right in front of it for the entire fight with the 2 girls running away from debt collectors in the ghost town, and of course it was a fucking cat. Because of course it'd be the cat that refuses to move and causes massive problems for it's owner by being an ignorant little shit
Really wish they gave you three companions like they did in wasteland 2. After playing through that only having two companions with four rangers seems kind of restrictive.
You can have more than 2 comp if you like, just replace your ranger

has anyone confirmed that you can get "the gift " as a companion if you have level 10 kissass when speaking to her? I didnt have it at the time , so said screw it and passed her up , but ive heard on reddit she is also a companion , she wheels around in the wheelchair with an SMG , and has a ton of science nerd skills ....
the reddit post says if you use level 10 kiss ass when speaking to her , then comeback and talk to her immediately after pizepi joins , with pizepi in the party and talk to her again after the small cut scene by the front door , go back and speak to her again , her and pizepi talk , and she joins also

I am really bummed out with the more evil companions. I have slight ocd about getting all the skills covered early on and the evil companions skill combos seems weird as well as the fact that you can’t get them early on like you can Wesson and Kwon. I’m thinking of getting scotchmo and cordite but don’t want to wait that long to have my mechanic and Lockpick skill covered. I understand I can make new rangers when I do get them to balance out my skill and try to prevent over lap but I just wish I had a bit more control with the companions for a evil run thru

Lucia does one of the most dps in my game. Marshal is only in our party for kiss ass. He does 0dps.

Lucia Wesson is WEAK? What are you talking about man? Give her the best revolver, upgrade range and crit. Get quick draw perk. Pump max Coordination and Intelligence, and watch her crit the shit out of everything and shoot for 3 - 4 shots per turn.

Scotchmo is funny, but Ironclad is the strongest. Lucia is the most useless, she has armor modding and very low strength which is health. Kwon is whatever, he's basic.
@@norzza Ironclad is soooooo powerful, especially when you give him the brawler weapon that only requires 2 action points to use. Definitely better than Fishlips, but with Flishlips, he's great to have when you battle robots.
Sadly my 2 starters were a sneaky sniper, and a melee tank, so when I met him, I already had a melee tank way better than he could ever be.
It's a shame, cause I loved his cyborg look, but I was also playing the hero playthrough.
I'll definitely recruit him and Vic on my next playthrough
@@Trojianmaru once you max close combat skill, every battle will be a breeze.
@@Trojianmaru I did too but I still run him as a second melee character. you can get a brawl skill book like in the first hour of the game so he instantly gets to 10 for the -1 ap perk. the 2 ap brawling weapon becomes 1 and is a beast. I added the 25% stun chance weapon mod and his strike causes stun so he just runs around stunning stuff. he can also unleash heavy damage against a single target if you want to go that route

Right goldentoaster is exactly like a Pet here are unique pets cat Major tom, twohead goat Billy and jean, partybot, honigdachs,Young bison, clon, polly,poultron,goldentoaster and an other Robot.and the provost but He leaves you After his Mission is finish

Lol, calling small arms weaker when you can spam equip/unequip with QuickDraw and the right mag mod to make all shots take 1 AP. Get a good pistol ASAP from the wasteland and she will destroy all campaign.

@@norzza AOE and Friendly Fire sometimes causes chaos... I left her with pistols, and with the right weapons she eats the enemies alive. Properly skilled Kwon with a good SMG is also a beast.
@@norzza idk, I have Lucia and my medic using Small guns at level 10, and she still does more damage with her pistol, than he does with his shotgun.
And thanks to the money glitch and skill book glitch, I'm able to buy them the best weapons money can buy
