hats. Always equip hats. Each character can remove these items and sell them for a couple extra scrap. roughly $8 each x 4 squad = $32. Early game either extra ammo or a healing item.
"cosmetic" backpack also, same $8 each x 4 squal= $32 more, make each smoke "Styx" cigarettes' (other brands sell for $1 LESS), worth another $4 each x 4 squad = $16 more, again... thats $32 + $32 + $16 = $80.
You can also sell all 4x squad members shirts & pants, for $64 more... $80 + $64 = $144, FOR FREE at game start.
The "most valuable" secondary weapon are slap gloves (min 1 in brawling to spawn on character, costs 2 skill points), at $44 sale value ($130 full value).. if all 4 squad members have, thats a possible $176 more ($144 + $176 = $320)
Just bought myself Wasteland 2 as a Christmas present and watching this video really explains what to do when building my team. Can't wait to play the game!!!

I like that you don't force people to make a specific squad. But, instead you allow people to have the freedom to do whatever they want.
an example squad would be fine though
No one in UA-cam can force you to do anything.
Nobody on UA-cam even recommends the squad I was about to go my first time in wanted a little heads up about the game would have been nice.
So I'm guessing that I can,
Go in blind randomly creating any squad I want with any weapons or armor or perks none of that will affect me later?

If you go for the Opportunist quirk, to offset the -25% damage penalty on targets above 35% con. Get the Tactical Positioning perk, which gives +25% from rear attacks with ranged and melee weapons. Also use a burst fire weapon, as part of the burst can reduce the target below 35% con. Then the other bullets in the burst benefit from +50% damage quirk bonus, plus the rear attack bonus.
Way of the Squeezins, depending on how you build this one. You can end up with enough AP to fire two bursts from the Minigun or The 3. Plus you benefit from +25% damage from the quirk. Also get Tactical Positioning for this build to maximize damage. Then get Combat Shooting maxed out for 99% critical chance, if using heavy machine guns.
Each of the above can also overcome some of the problems with Energy Weapons and non-conductive armor. Due to the quirks damage bonuses, and the bonus from Tactical Positioning. If you get the three Energy Weapons perks, thats +30% damage against non-conductive. Then Robotocist for +20% damage vs Synths and Robots.

Why tho it's the wastes everyone is stressed the fuck out
I didn't want to use a video like this but I assumed I messed up the stats when a guy with a baseball bat can't hit a guy in a wheelchair. (For science).
Seriously though, I do not get the percentages and stats of this game. It's some work I guess.
