Just a friendly tip while soldering: Make sure to have some solder on your soldering tip before you try to heat the joints, that will make a day & night difference! And also, try to place your tip both on the "metal" and the joint so the heating spreads more 'correct' :) Good video, keep it up!
thank you. !!!
Sudden onset of crank but no start. No noise from the pump at all upon key-start. Relay checked and fuse 18 both OK.
Gotta be the pump, yeah?
I’m going to cheat and “cut carpet”. Hey she’s now a project van anyway!
Nice work man! It also gave me some insight as to how to remove the shifter components.
Glad it helped
Very detailed. thank you!
Great video!! I have an 02 sunstar that’s the eurovan with a Winnebago camper on it
It has been sitting for a few years and will start with starting fluid but dies after that. I’m gonna replace the fuel pump, fuel filter and relay and then all the fluids. These Winnebago’s with the Volkswagen power train are rare. The owner took great care of it has all service records. I’m only into it for 2K and the camper inside is immaculate. I feel pretty good about the deal . Can you think of anything else that you would do to one that hasn’t been run for a few years?
Thanks for the video and great work! Quick question: What year Eurovan is the one on this video?
Silly me, I just swapped out the floats.
Great detailed video. I am about to do this job but will only replace the pump. Can you tell me the hose clamp size you used? I would like to have some on hand just in case ai need them. Thanks Update: The Bosch pump 67873 came with the clamps, 11.3 cinch type for in tank use and screw type for outside tank connection.
Wow, seems crazy involved to get to a fuel pump! What is the normal life of one of these?
I have 225kmi on my original. Now finally bonked! Glad this video exists!
I’m gonna cut carpet!
Very interesting video :-),
Could you kindly explain to me the last recommendation, that of the strat and stop?
My mechanic changed the pump for me but since then it no longer starts on petrol but only LPG.
At about 80km I try to switch to petrol but at the beginning it struggles, then it starts to hiccup and then it goes quite well.
But as soon as it drops to almost the minimum, it turns off.
Any advice is welcome.
Thank you
Wait so you said before removing the fuel lines at the pump to release the pressure at the fuel rail. But did you do that?? Or is it ok to just remove the lines slowly to let the pressure out?? I seemed like that’s what you did but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks great vid👍🏼
I opened the gas cap to let the pressure out. That should be enough for not spewing gas all over your interior. When removing the lines from the gas pump top, make sure to place an old towel or something because fuel will almost always leak a little from there.
@@lil-link exactly!
Just womdering would it really be that bad to
Either lower tank or cut carpet??
Just remove the carpet. Its not that bad
Thank you. Excellent video!!
