  • In this episode I check the block and cylinder head are both tdc before fitting the cam belt and diesel pump belt. Everything is timing up and torqued up to required spec. For some help I have been using the Haynes manual which has come in helpful especially for know the correct torques.

    If only the people who repaired the head last time had put half the effort you have. Your videos are awesome, great content. Can’t wait to hear it running. Really good effort mate well done 💯

      Much appreciated! Yeah seams to be the story with the van, every job I've done is fixing a previous bodge job.

    You mentioned that the comments keep you motivated to make videos, so just so you know I’ve watch most of your vids, some of them multiple times and they have been an absolute god send for some of the mods I’ve done on my T4. Please keep them coming👍

      Hey Rob, thank you 🙏 sometimes without feedback it can get disheartening, my older uploads had terrible sound and it wasn’t until someone said in the comments and then I was able to try and improve the sound. It comments like yours that help me to keep motivated with the uploads, it would of been so much quicker and less stressful if I didn’t upload but I do this in the hope that it does actually help people. Again thank you very much 🙏🤙🤙🤙

    The cleanest ACV this side of Rio Grande :D..Good job. You are doing it all literally by the book. If only garages were this meticulous. Can`t wait to hear it running. Make sure to turn it over without firing first, just so You build up oil pressure and fill the lifters with oil (not sure if You squeezed those in a bowl of oil before install, this helps). I`m fighting with electrics on mine. Making new loom for the headlights and running wires for the winch.

      Thanks buddy, taking a bit longer than expected but its coz I can stop cleaning lol. No I didn't do that with the lifters so I will turn the engine quite a few times before I start it. I have turned the engine already and the compression is mad, before I could turn the engine easily.
      I've seen a few people upgrading the headlight wiring loom, Thats going to be awesome with a winch, going to be off-roader?

      @@TwiggsT4 Im installing relays for the lights and running new loom straight off the battery. You can do it just bypassing the weakest point (ori switches) and using existing loom but mine is bad, so all new wires.
      More of a camper suitable for really wild camping. I just "got out" from offroading...not planning to use the T4 for such activity..but life will tell ;).

    Awesome! There’s some serious engineering going down here mate. Thought about trying this job myself but don’t have the skill set. It’s inspiring watching you work though and has helped my understanding 👍

      I’m glad it’s helped even if your not doing the job but to get an understanding of it. Compared to some engineering tasks I’ve done in the past this is fairly straight forward, trust the process, and like I always say, take your time 👍

    Good job mate, I do all my own work on my t4 after being ripped off by garage, going to do a full rebuild on second hand engine

    • @TwiggsT4
      @TwiggsT4  3 роки тому

      I’ve always done the work on my own cars in the past, except for the taxi coz that’s all tax deductible 😉 but never stripped down an engine fully. Which is why I have also just got a second hand engine to rebuild myself, just started working on it the other day 👍
      Have you rebuild engines before? Keep me updated with the progress 👌 😎👍

    Great vid chap doing mine now, found the tensioner on pump belt had failed and jumped two teeth caused nasty misfire low power and some rediculous vcds figures. 👍

    • @TwiggsT4
      @TwiggsT4  Рік тому

      Cheers buddy, I’m glad the misfire was an easy fix, are you going to do cambelt/tensioner? It’s surprising how even 1 tooth out can cause issues, for many people they would have had to put the van into garage and then the garage to say they can’t find the issue then that persons posts on the forums and within minutes the fault is diagnosed 😂

      True dat, although now everything back in you can hardly see the access hole for the timing on the flywheel
