Top 10 Movie Villains of All Time | A CineFix Movie List

- If any story is only as good as the antagonist, does that mean a good villain is even more important than the hero? We tend to think so! So what are the elements that build up to a perfect big bad? Is it an air of inevitability? A great plan? Just plain scary? All of the above? Let’s hash it out with CineFix's Top 10 Movie Villains of All Time.
From horror movie slashers stalking the final girl to good guys doing bad guy things for good guy reasons, a villain's motives are of course unlimited. What sets the truly great ones apart from their mustache twirling counterparts is, our favorite thing here at CineFix, a complicated stew of characteristics. From a tragic backstory like Lotso Huggin’ Bear from Toy Story 3, to the unstoppable killing machine AI in The Terminator, to villains that are just SO hateable like Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator or Mr. Potter in It’s a Wonderful Life, to the charming and relatable wing of villainy with The Avengers Loki or Bodhi from Point Break.
The point is, what we love about villains is an evil and entertaining cocktail of traits that are ALL worth diving into.
This list was written by Clint Gage and edited by Justin Donaldson.

I still think Javier Bardem is one of the most deserving oscar winners of all time for his role as Anton Chigurh. I can't remember the last time a character unsettled me so much as a villain. The movie does an incredible job at making him feel relentless and inescapable
Yes. Well said
he won an oscar for that role?
@@moritzstrohriegel8724 Yeah, for best supporting actor
@@williamnichols1914 oh, ok thank you for the information.,
What movie is that
I would have liked to see Hans Landa from Inglourious Basterds, Warden Norton from Shawshank, and Le Chiffre from Casino Royale :)
I came here to mention Hans Landa. He fits in many cathegories: despicable yet charming, has a goal, Brings tension and dominates the room. I wonder how he wasn't even mentioned.
Realistically, the could be a video listing why Hans is the best character, best villain, best manipulator, best individual to see on screen, best person to hate (being a Nazi only being one reason).
Hans Lambda is honestly one of the best written and performed characters ever in cinema.
Hans held his own comfort higher than any other virtue making him genocidally sociopathic. Nantuckett island lol.
Hans’ charisma alone … that’s a bingo!
Great choices, this was just too much. There’s at least a hundred incredible villains, and in many more categories. Martin Burney from Sleeping with the Enemy, Dawn Bellwether from Zootopia, there’s just too many good ones and they’re all incredibly complex in their motives and development.
Fun Fact: Rutger Hauer's role in 'The Hitcher' served as the inspiration for Heath Ledger's joker in 'The Dark Knight'. It's also one of Christopher Nolan's favorite films.
Good call
That is a frakking great movie villain!
I'm pretty sure he also took a lot of mannerisms from Tom Waits who he played alongside in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus.
So much went into that role. Just look at how Heath studied the look and colour palette of the Joker's costume, the structure of his makeup, the state of his hair. You can almost smell the guy.
Good to know some broad lines came from Rutger's Hitcher, another one whose stink came of the screen to follow us decades after...
And Tom as Rudy in Ironweed, where he plays besides Jack Nicholson 2 years before his Joker, might have put some eary likeability into Heath's performance.
But it's Heath who does the magic here. The voice, the laughter, the absence of fear without removing the adrenaline, all the little sounds that come from that mouth... And let's be honest, when Heath enters the scene it's his universe we're watching. Just has the Joker would have it.
Another fact: Tom Waits was a direct source of inspiration for Heath Ledger’s Joker voice..
I think the omission of John Doe from Se7en is a bit unfortunate. Truly an iconic movie villain whose final act of violence was nothing short of genius and made movie history ("What's in the box?!).
Most clever villain category perhaps?
Yeah, John Doe not being included as the "most committed villain" makes this list pretty lacking.
Eh, I think he's kind of over hyped.
His plan makes no sense.
And his sin clearly pride, not envy. Can't even get even get his pseudo-intelectualism for basic bros right.
Probably because the actor is a villain himself?
Can only assume they forgot
Captain Vidal from Pan's Labyrinth is one of the most underrated villains of all time.
He was mentioned in the video
He was the villain?
@@pmrzy he was
The moment he appears on screen, he is both despicable and terrifying. He is a stand-in for Francoist facism, and the opportunistic toxic masculinity that is the basis of Francoism.
@@pmrzy Yeah. Literally the entire film he's nothing but evil.
Maybe it wouldn't count since he wasn't a mere fictitious movie villain but a real person, but Amon Goeth in Schindler's List is a very memorable villain in cinema. Ralph Fiennes' portrayal was so good his presence on the set was disturbing to some who lived through the war.
Agreed I fully expected him to be included under #8
first reply on this thread, yes agreed at the very least he should have had highlighted clips. Maybe their production timeline is shit, if he isn't in the top ten you at the very least need to have him considered at some point.
If they needed some distance, I'd suggest Olivier's thinly veiled Mengele character in Marathon Man. "Is it safe?"
Glad to see Lil Ze included here, a truly terrifying entity in one of my all-time favorite films.
City of God was extremely well made and acted. I can never watch it again though.
I don't watch much film, but I happen to have watched that. And he was terrifying. It was one of those films that stays with you for a long time after watching.
@@blakeharris58 That's fair. I definitely have a few of those, 'Best Movie I'll Never Watch Again', one of mine is Requiem For A Dream.
Best movies you'll never watch again...
I hope CineFix will take up that challenge !
@@roel.vinckens Great idea! I nominate Grave of the Fireflies and Dancer in the Dark.
Cinefix made a conceptual error, I believe. They made the category mistake of confusing all antagonists as villains. Roy Batty is an antagonist, but he is no villain.
Interesting distinction.
@@davidanderson_surrey_bc And necessary, justified .
Deckard is also an antagonist to me, he is hunting down Roy after all. The video talks about how Frankenstein's monster isn't really a monster, and I'd say Roy is pretty much Frankenstein's monster; angry at his creator for how he was made and what a cruel world he was forced into.
I'm also surprised this isn't a longer list,
with more aliens, animals & monsters
as the villains or antagonists; but maybe
there are separate lists for those.
And protagonists aren’t necessarily heros either
How is Hans Landa not even mentioned in this episode? Especially since CineFix loves Quentin Tarantino movies so much.
I dont know if you know this, but there are a lot of movies.
That's what bothered me too.
@Crusader982 It's crazy how many people don't realize that.
I know Cinefix isn't one to always pick mainstream but I do think not having Vader on this is a bit unfortunate.
I'm not even a big Star Wars fan, but the craft in putting together a villain so iconic that his breathing is more iconic than entire franchises needs to be respected and recognised.
Glad he got quite a few mentions, at least.
Tbh I'm so tired of seeing Star Wars pop up on no. 1 picks in movie lists that I was actually relieved seeing Darth Vader not getting the first spot. Don't get me wrong, Star Wars is a great story with many worthwhile accomplishments, but I do sincerely believe people tend to overrate the series. It seems that no matter the category, be it characters, visual effects, soundtrack, cinematography, story, or whatever crosses one's mind, Star Wars always pops up as the GOAT which is simply not true. While it does nail a lot of aspects flawlessly, I find lots of other movies surpassing it in many ways. Yes, it's good having it on a list, but don't give it more credit than it's due just because it is the most popular choice. It's one of the reasons why i love CineFix so much.
@@myx9588palpatine and vader as villains > this list
I agree with Vader, don't care if some younger people can't appreciate him
@@fungusz_4292Vader is the better character palps is the better villain
Bill the Butcher snubbed, absolutely one of DDL’s best ever performances
Right?! Possibly one of the best cinematic performances of all time.
@@wdstrut oh
for a second I thought you talked about Buffalo Bill and I was like "wait, Daniel Day-Lewis didn't play him!"
It's not that serious. Top 10 lists are pointless anyway.
I absolutely love that you picked Frank Booth. Having been trapped in the orbit of a guy like that, I think that is the most real and terrifying villain in cinema.
Real? Where in this world, is a man like that “real?”
@@CorbCorbin Consider yourself lucky if you've never meant someone as disturbed as Frank.
@@CorbCorbin My “Frank”s name was John. He used to like to lick his fingers while cutting meat at the supermarket meat department that I used to work at. He genuinely did not care if we saw him. He also loved to ramble about Frank Zappa
Sociopaths. They're real.
And it only adds to the terror to know that Dennis Hopper told David Lynch he had to cast him, because "I AM Frank!"
I'd have added Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's Dolores Umbridge to the Hateable Villain category
@Move_I_Got_This I dunno, she's a bit too real man. I've definitely worked for her...
Imelda Staunton knocked that role out of the park.
@Move_I_Got_This you can't joke about women like that. You weren't there man! You weren't there ;)
@@piyam5000 Isn't that part of what makes her so easy to hate?
Probably because the creator of the franchise eclipses even Umbridge in that now.
I just love these lists...Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet made an excellent villain. Also, the mayor in Jaws and his sport coat lol. Oh yeah, and Ed Norton in Primal Fear.
Now I can’t stop thinking of good villains. Adding Leonard Nimoy and the pod people in the ‘78 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Spoilers for Primal Fear
I watched Primal Fear for the first time just three days ago. I was sure he would be mentioned in the "wolf in sheep's clothing" section, he fits perfectly. What a debut performance for Norton.
@@DerMoerpler Oops, I should’ve put a spoiler warning 😬 He was so good. That ending still gives me chills
Great point about the mayor. He is indeed the real villain of Jaws, not the shark.
@@colleenemmerson5973you know you could have edited your comment to exclude spoilers ( although you may already have, I haven’t seen primal fear yet )
I think Spectacle should have definitely been a category here. So many important representatives like Scar, Vader, Voldemort, the T-rex and Thanos sadly weren't given their dues.
Spectacle makes the villain very attractive
Also the Wicked Witch of the West
@@AntonAdelson but not interesting
Pero dapat may category for spectacle
An extremely underrated movie villain is Choi Min Sik's character in 'I Saw the Devil'. Imagine if Frank Booth, Heath Ledger's Joker, Hans Landa and Anton Chigurh was combined into one.
Speaking of Cape Fear, gotta mention Robert Mitchum as Harry Powell in Night of the Hunter
Oh, excellent choice-very surprised not to see it as a mention on this list.
Frank from Once Upon a Time in the West should've been on here.
Only more recent films are considered on these kind of lists.
One of the reasons I watch your videos is to fill up my watchlist. You mention a hundred movies in a top ten list, theres bound to be a couple I still want to watch!
And that's the best use we can make of such lists. I mostly use them to see if there is something new or to rewatch a movie that I haven't seen in a while. Or I watch them just for entertain.
it's like christmas when a new cinefix top 10 drops
Please make a list of the top 10 "bigger than life" characters in movies. Characters like Tyler Durden in fight club, kambei Shimada in seven samurai, and Harry Lime in the third man. All amazing characters that deserve their own list.
Agent Smith in The Matrix (the first one obviously) deserves at least a mention.
Yeah I was surprised there wasn't even a mention.
I think there should be a reputation category for villains who’s name and reputation can strike fear into everyone (including their underlings). Vader, Voldemort, The Wicked Witch of the West, Thanos, Hannibal Lecter, and Michael Corleone are some examples I can think of!
And while technically the protagonist, John Wick is a fun one. I think Thanos would win that category for me considering he had been built up for nearly a decade, other villains being pawns in his game. He's never actually shown doing anything to make him a threat, but as soon as he shows up he lives up to the hype and takes down Thor and Hulk.
The Joker by Heath ledger is goat
I know you mentioned Anton Chigurh but it's a travesty that he's not listed as one of the actual top 10. No Country for Old Men is one of my favourite movies of all time and it was Anton that carried the movie. He was absolutely terrifying and he managed to make himself that way mostly through body language which speaks to how greatly Javier Bardem protrayed him as an actor. Also I can't believe Hans Landa doesn't rate a mention. That opening scene alone was one of the great scenes in cinematic history. He was pure evil, he had a purpose, was highly intelligent, highly dangerous and most of all he was absolutely terrifying. Definitely one of the best villians of all time.
You can only include so many in a top 10 list.
@@malafakka8530 need to take out one of the others and put Anton in
@MarkG998 Maybe, and he is certainly one of the best villains and one of my favorites (I even did a video analysis on him), but I don't see it that way. What I mean is there is no definite top 10 in anything, in my opinion, certainly not in art. You can easily take out 5 in this list and replace them.
@@malafakka8530 I don't see why it being art would stop something from having a definite top 10. If he's not in your top 10 so be it. But I'd gladly debate it. Anton was considered by psychologists as an accurate portrayl of what a psychopath is. That to me is chilling how realistic he seemed. He had zero compromise, he wasn't doing it for ego, or for fame, or for notiriety or for money. He did it just cos he's evil. It was incredibly acted too. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of movies in my time and there are almost none that compare to him.
Nurse Ratched is probably my favorite villain in a movie simply because she has all the traits of the scariest and most evil villains yet works on a psychology ward where you know she won’t ever be punished. It’s crazy how effective she is simply because she’s not evil in the stereotypical way
Indeed, that character & Fletcher's
unforgettable performance are, sadly,
all-too-accurate, both then & even more so
now. Read about The Rosenhan Experiment
(which occurred in the late '60s/early '70s)
& read up about a lot of the anomalies
in the present day mental health field.
A lot of Ratcheds & their male
counterparts out there these days.
Jang in I Saw the Devil is the epitomy of evil and Choi Min-Sik really revels in one of his best ever roles, where the protagonist has to become a monster himself in an attempt to get his revenge. I'm surprised it didn't even get a passing mention!
Oh no
One of my favorite horror action thriller, its a masterpiece.
@@rockkiller124 indeed, and that rotating scene in the taxi is just amazing!
Always so well thought out and written. I look forward to every CineFix list.
The writing definitely feels more personable and casual now, and I was surprised to recognize all of the movies cited in a countdown whereas usually there are some lesser-known (if I'm the barometer) choices. Great narration, as usual.
anton chigurh and hans landa really should have been on this list
Chigurh at least got some screentime in the video, but surprising Landa was nowhere to be found!
As well as the terminator, vader, hannibal, hans grubber
Fantastic list as always! Kinda bummed not to see Dolores Umbridge as an honorable mention for the hateable characters though. Imelda Staunton does such a good job portraying that sickly sweet yet sociopathic lawful evil that we’ve all known in real life to some extent.
She’s definitely the Harry Potter series’s take on Nurse Ratched.
Like so many of the characters in HP, she is a highly derivative version of a character/characters that were better written/realized elsewhere. Staunton’s portrayal was strong though
5:19 YES! Thank you for giving The Great Silence a shout-out!
Hans Gruber in Die Hard (1988) is one of the best movie villains ever. Alain Rickman's performance is uncompared to this day.
#8 Nurse Ratchet is absolutely perfect - in the lead-up, I was definitely thinking that if television were included, it should be Kai Winn - Louise Fletcher did institutional evil so well.
For sure. I was just thinking of this movie yesterday when I was looking up Brad Dourif.
Did you have to show the hobbling from Misery? For some reason I can handle Saló and Pink Flamingos, but that scene in Misery makes me physically sick. Also, I’m happy you picked Nurse Ratched as one of your choices. She’s the embodiment of the quiet, distant apathy that should never consume someone in control.
I think also deserving a mention (and maybe even the win?) in the category of villains that you just hate and want to see fail is Marla Grayson from 'I Care A Lot'. For all of the reasons that they gave (and that you expanded on) for Nurse Ratched.
I would have added “iconic” as a section, where the silhouette alone is terrifying. Where a villain can be recognized by just the sound of their voice, the color of their clothing. Darth Vader would be the obvious choice
Or the Eye of Sauron.
The fact he didn't put THE one villain up there is a crime, it's even worse if you consider his past and how Anakin Skywalkers story eventually led there
Sallieri from Amadeus deserved a mention at the very least.
He is practically the protagonist, I understand why he is not referenced at all.
Stansfield in Leon: The Professional, also played by Gary Oldman.
With a nod to Zorg in The Fifth Element. Oldman and Besson made a great team.
that character was so over the top (in a bad way)
Not even a mention of Agent Smith? He was literally created to be Neo's villain.
Just love how every CineFix list has Lord Of The Rings in there somehow. Truly the greatest of all time
The villain that I wanted to see fail the most because of how despicable he is, would be Percy from the Green Mile.
Nurse Rachet scares the shit out of me.
The only movie character that has ever given me actual nightmares.
Based on my own experiences,
there are, unfortunately, a lot
of real life people who are just like that.
I wish I could just keep the lessons
I learned & forget the actual experiences,
but none of my memories ever go away.
I'm both amazed and glad Ichi the Killer got an honorable mention.
I saw Mulholland Drive (and its infamous scene with the homeless man behind the diner) before Blue Velvet, but while the former scene was truly the jump scare to end all jump scares, the scene where Booth shows up in BV made my skin crawl. I'm not sure I took a good breath the entire time. Pure Id, pure shadow, unfettered chaos. Well done, CineFix.
The warden from Shawshank Redemption is a villain we love to hate. Murder bribes cover ups everything nurse ratch on steroids
Col. Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds should have been in the top 3. Scar also made every kid cry when he killed Mufasa. And Thanos was so convincing of genocide that some people state… “Thanos was right”. Darth Vader has to be on the list as well. Apart from that, good list!
Hannibal Lecter is *NOT THE VILLAIN* of The Silence of the Lambs.
Buffalo Bill is.
I just couldn't understand why Anton chigurh wasn't even chosen. He's literally the perfect antagonist 😳
Because I think they picked him in the last list
I enjoyed the villain in The Watchmen - Ozymandias. Also a bit of a different kind of villain with some twisted but good intentions.
Ozymandias is from my pov one of the greatest villains ever written, if you could even call him a villain by the traditional sense.
@@user-zv6dd4zp4qAlso the Watchmen is the best comic book movie ever made imho!
@@AntonAdelson Yeah, it most probably is
He might be one of the best twist villans I've seen
barely any screen time is all
There's got to be a part 2 eventually, so many villains/antagonists were missed.
Yea no shit, it's a top 10 list and there's atleast 100 notable choices.
another archetype I like a lot: the villain that only appears late into a movie. this applies to "finally he shows up" Harry (In Bruges) or john doe (se7en) as well as the typical "plot twist villains" tyler durden (fight club). keyser söze also kinda counts but in a different way.
those are almost always fun to watch imo. aprt from that, I also wanna throw in michael gambon from The cook, the thief, his wife & her lover. one of the scariest villains ever put to film from a rather unknown movie.
Keyser Soze, oh yes!
There's also William Schenk from Spiral
Love seeing Nurse Ratched on the list. And her Kai Winn in Deep Space Nine was also a fantastic villain, "My child."
22:02 so happy you kept this; my personal favorite villain of all time.
My list:
10. Pure Fear - The Devil from The Exorcist
9. Unstoppable - The Thing from The Thing
8. Hatability - Hans Landa from Inglourious Basterds
7. Unpredictability - The Joker from The Dark Knight
6. Goal - Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War
5. Empathy - Magneto from the X-Men movies
4. Rooting for them - Lady Eboshi from Princess Mononoke
3. Foil to Hero - Killmonger from Black Panther
2. Wolves in Sheeps Clothing - Ghostface from Scream
1. Dark Mirrors - Jack from The Shining
Bro, number 3 has got to be a joke
Going through the comments, it appears that this category deserves a Top 100 treatment in a much longer video.
If Shooter McGavin is not on this list I stg.
Darth Vader not being in the list just… unbelievable…
Wow! I forgot all about Frank Booth. You hit the nail on the head. Thank you.
I was thinking of Frank Booth through the whole video and was pleasantly surprised when he was picked #1!
Great villains, but not even a mention for Ben Kingsley's Don Logan in Sexy Beast. Maybe he’s just not a true villain in the film's story, but he’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen on a screen.
100% agree. The intensity of that performance is unbelievable- absolutely searing
Great mention-great performance in a really good movie.
Ahhh the whole reason I searched this list to see if Sauron would make it. Maybe not number one but I’m more than happy he made the top 10
Where is Clarence Boddicker?
Bitches leave!
So happy that Frank Booth is number 1. Shoutout to Delores Umbridge (worse than Voldemort in a way) and Hopper from A Bug's Life (always has terrified me since early childhood😂)
Two words for you guys: Dolores Umbridge. She deserves at least a mention in this list, and would win a category about taking belief to far.
Honestly Fletcher from whiplash is the one perfect villain. Not only rivals the protagonist physically, mentally, we hate him, smart, backstabber, knows his field better than anyone and on top of everything, he succeeded and we are happy he succeded. Hit all the notes
Let’s be clear… Sid from Toy Story wasn’t a bad guy. He was a creative kid who took his toys apart and put them back together in interesting ways. He had a great imagination and given that his father was a drunk who couldn’t be bothered to take an interest in him, it’s no wonder he spent time a lot of his time in his room playing with the only friends he had, his toys. Not content to be stuck with the drab design concocted by the toy companies, he set him mind free and used craftsmanship to build unique and fun toys any child would enjoy. Shame on you for actively insinuating he’s on the same level as the Terminator or Nurse Psychopath… shame!
If David Cronenberg is picked to direct Toy Story 5, his Sid would do wonders with those toy parts.
As far as he knows the toys aren't alive so he's not doing anything wrong, but since they are alive it kind of makes him like the shark in Jaws; where he has to be stopped even though he doesn't understand he's doing anything wrong.
What about secondary villains or co-villains? I'm thinking that although Carl Showalter is the main villain in Fargo, Jerry Lundegaard is the motivating villain, and much of the twists and problems in the plot are because of his ineptitude at being an actual villain.
Obviously not movies but Vince Gilligan knows how to write a villain. Tuco, Gus, Todd, Hector, Lalo, and even Walter. All phenomenal villains.
I love how much Toy Story appeared on this video 😂
Great list! Heath Ledger's Joker is still my favorite movie villain of all time.
Angel Eyes from the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly it’s a pretty damn good villain.
I honestly don't agree with most Top 10's, but...this was actually a good list!
How about Don Lope de Aguirre, from Aguirre, the Wrath of God? Not a conventional villain, but insane, driven, unstoppable and somehow drags you in at the same time
Thank You, probably the most underrated villain in regards to how impactful his villainy is upon one of the best films of all time. They did give Klaus Kinske a shout out in this video but it is not fair.
Great list! My personal favorite villain is Little Bill Daggett from Unforgiven
Just a reminder that in the original Halloween, Michael Meyers drives a car. Just a regular ass old station wagon, on screen. Before he got the supernatural treatment in the sequels, he was just a guy who escaped a mental hospital. Gotta get around town somehow but it feels so weird and out of place watching it now 😂🚙🚙
Heath Ledger taken too soon. Can only imagine the roles he would have continued to play into his future
This is a rare time when my top pick doesn’t even get mentioned. Agent Smith. Solid list though.
Had Blue Velvet on VHS and wore it out trying to figure it out. David Lynch, what a brain.
Great list. Tough list. Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber gets mentioned in your lists, but never with the love he deserves. It was his character, not McClane's, that redefined and recharged the action movie genre for decades to come. Also, malign the film all you want, but Patrick McGoohan's portrayal of Edward Longshanks in Braveheart was pitch-perfect. I would also throw in Col. Jessup (A Few Good Men), Col. Mathieu (Battle of Algiers), Spattoletti (Love and Anarchy), John Doe (Se7en), Aaron (Primal Fear), Amon Goeth (Schindler's List) and Le narrateur (Last Year at Marienbad). Thanks for another entertaining list.
Good call on Longshanks. He’s so scenery-chewingly vile, it’s great. I wouldn’t be surprised if his work partially inspired Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator.
I thought Vader was going to be on the list. Seemed to pop up in pretty much all the categories.
He was visually mentioned more than once, but like the shark in Jaws it's a character that has been discussed ad naseum.
#5 with the villain who’s motives you understand is Koba from rise of the apes. Every character in that movie has an understandable motive.
For the number two slot Topher Grace in Predators was really good and deserves an honorable mention.
What’s the difference between this list and the old one?
Darth Vader
Frank Booth all the way !
Great list as usual...
1. Joker
2. Thanos
3. Voldemort
4. Hal
5. Darth Sidious
6. Scar
7. Darth Vader
8. John Torrance
9. Wicked Witch of the West
10. Xenomorph
#10.
Throw out Xenomorph. Replace with Ricardo Burke.
A mama protecting her nest is no villain, compared to that corporate jackass.
#3.
Also throw out Voldemort. Replace with Delores Umbridge.
Voldemort may have been a murdering psychopath. But at least he didn’t wear PINK!!
🤮
One underrated villain is Lieutenant Hawkins from the movie "The Nightingale". Great movie with a despicable villain!!!
Really cool to see The Great Silence and Loco getting some much deserved love.
One of the greatest western films of all time and one hell of a villain.
NGL I am kinda dissapointed that there was no mention of Voldemort/Bellatrix/Dolores whatsoever. I do know their movie versions did not fully translate as rounded as depicted in the books, but at least a mention was worth it!
Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu as a sociopath abductor in The Vanishing (1988)
I enjoyed this, far more than I would assume I would. Well written, well edited, and of course, well narrated! Nice work!
Surprised he didn't mention the biggest villain of all time: The Roadrunner. The things he did to that poor coyote who was trying to get himself some dinner!
A great addition would've been Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes in Elia Kazan's "A Face in the Crowd." He fits the "work in sheep's clothing" archetype so well, he almost redefined it. Amazing on so many levels: that is was Andy effing Griffith playing the part, that it was made in 1957 - foreshadowing everything we're experiencing right in this very moment in American politics, and that it still holds up stylistically to any similarly themed films of the past couple decades. It's that good, and most people don't know it even exists.
Loved the video, but unrelated tip for english speakers when pronouncing portuguese/brazilian names:
-"Lil Zi"😂 we say it Zé, its a dimunitive of the name José.
-Also we pronounce J's like you, the spanish are the ones that say "RRosé"😂
-And when a name ends with O (Paulo, Tiago) you tend to say Tiag"hoe" and we say Tiag"u"
Since Vader didn’t make the cut, I’m glad he got so many nods throughout the list. You guys are the best, love the videos.
It criminal to tease us with Vader and then not put him on the list!
I don’t fuq with IGN reviews, but omg this channel is S-tier movie content. Can’t let it play in the background - I’m fully invested for the next 25mins
A lot of us were nervous when IGN acquired Cinefix, but thankfully it hasn’t changed Cinefix’s content.
I wish a movie was made based on the game System Shock 2. The villain in the game, AI named SHODAN, is considered to be one of the best villains in video games, ever. Always included in lists of game villains, usually closer to the top of the list. And given that the game was made in 1999 and there are a bunch of game made since then and it's still one of the best villains ever, that's saying something!
"Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"
I've not yet finished watching the video, but I needed thank you for including Nurse Ratched from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Thank you for recognizing Louise Fletcher's work in bringing her to the screen.
Love the Roy Batty shout.
My list
10. The shadow man
9. General zod
8. King Rameses
7. John doe
6. Vulture spiderman homecoming
5. Syndrome

Vader not on this list is a crime idk half of these villains, but everyone knows vader
There are so many good villains / antagonists and different types that a simple top 10 list with mentions can't do the subject justice
