  • For the Kilt V2 we have added the ability to switch the G2 toggle with a Red Remote! This gives you the ability to flip into heavy overdrive or fuzz with a footswitch on the fly, making the V2 just as versatile as the V1 but more compact.
    - When both toggles are down, you are in the lightest gain setting. Amp-like chimey breakup.
    - G1 flipped up adds a touch of drive for more riffy grit.
    - G2 flipped up puts you almost into distortion land, with more saturation and sustain for lead tones.
    - Both toggles flipped up sends the Kilt V2 into almost uncontrollable gated fuzz/distortion that will cut through anything.

    Just got one yesterday. GREAT pedal! In fact, it's almost 2 or even 3 in one! I LOVE the gated fuzz tone! Great!! I will get a red remote pretty soon for sure! I was already in love with my JHS AT, now, I am in heaven!! Thank you JHS!

    I tried this pedal out at Mundts music in Tyler Texas, first music store I’ve seen to carry you’re pedals, and I tried it out with several other pedals and this had easily became my favorite distortion pedal of all time. Being able to get different amounts of gain from it with just a flip of a switch made it such a usable pedal. I love it and I hope to try it more of you’re products in the near future

    I love the versatility and simplicity of this pedal. That G1 + G2 sound is a slayer! The others would definitely be inspiring and useful, but not as much as the full-on one.
    I wish this had a 2-channel or preset option, though. I'd be lucky to afford one of these, but I'd need two to take advantage of these in a live setting. The red thingee is a good idea, though; I'd probably go for that.

    There should be an internal or side dip switch that let's you choose what the red remote toggles (g1 or g2)

    I bought this pedal recently, and I’m curious about the circuit. What does the opto chip do for the distortion? Can you do a JHS style nerdy dive into the Expandora?

  • @subjectt.change6599
    @subjectt.change6599 2 роки тому +1

    I’ve seen the Expandora described as a “Boutique RAT on hard drugs…” and I presume this has to do with the cascading opamp stages and the optical envelope circuit.

    This may be a dumb question but at 1:36 - 1:39 when it says G2 can be engaged by flipping the toggle, it shows you flip it in and out and the lights changing, but how come the signals not being affected?

      @iCharleyh 5 років тому +2

      They were just using the video footage as an example of how it changes. But waited to have the audio change until after the red switch was engaged.

      With side jacks the cables look better. Top jack makes no sense to me. How would pedals connect horizontally and fit in the 5 pedalboard case that way?

      I could be wrong, but I' m pretty sure the Expandora is based on the Rat ... It also seems like there are only so many ways to build a dirt pedal- I saw some French company demo-ed a drive based on some kind of Telsa type science- still, they're just ripping off Tesla right ( the band). To be more serious, , I can't afford an Expandora , they are very expensive, too my ears, The Kilt sounds LIKE a better Rat, as much as it does an Expandora- and it might even sound better- and I can afford one. How many Muffs and Fuzz faces are out there? Are those guys bad people, too?

    Will you ever stop cloning other peoples pedals and create something original? I’d think with all this money you have for advertising you could manage to hire an electrical engineer who can produce something that’s not 90% rip off just once. Wouldn’t be nearly as bad if it wasn’t for the fact you never give a shout out to the pedal builder who you take the circuit from and you charge way more then the original circuit almost all the time

    • @legozach77584

      A) most (i.e. 99%) of guitar pedals are slightly tweaked copies of something else. Especially drive pedals.
      B) when it comes to boutique brands, you're paying for more than just the circuit: graphics, brand name, and perceived quality also go into that.
      C) most pedal companies take an existing circuit, and tweak it to taste, making their own version of the original circuit.
      Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but that's how it typically works.
      Edit: also, they credit the design they drew inspiration from on their website in the description.

      Right. JHS is no different than ANY other company, besides being top quality and actually citing their sources. Puts them up a standard in my book.

      Convince the original Japanese company who used to make the Expandora to make it available again for a reasonable price and I would pass on this pedal by JHS. Till then I'll buy the "rip off".
