Pedals are addictive. I have no money to buy them I hope God provides. SS steel string singer, Vertex boost, Vertex Amp. And now I want this too. 🙏🏽😢. I have the SSS and the Vrtx Boost.
omg that teaser was amazing! I work in a store that proudly displays our JHS pedals. All of us music nerds at work love this show, and we love the pedals.
yeah I've been a 2 Amp user for years but going parallel with a pa head is similar but especially if both have slightly different eqs the way reverb can like bloom from the clean side after a dynamic "hit" kind of breaks up the attack moment.
I got to see the Band several times. 1970, Watkins Glen in 1973, with Bob Dylan in Montreal New Years 1974. Also in a small club after Robbie left early 1980’s. Amazing talent!!❤
So grateful that The JHS Show is beginning to unlock the secrets of your own pedals. I have had the Moonshine for some time but wasn't sure how to get the best sound out of it until today. My personal favorite The Band song is It Makes No Difference.
Wow! That teaser vid was incredible!!! It was your first one???? That was some quality, I loved the blend of electronic parts and moonshine materials. Very well done
Great pedal. I need to go out and test one tomorrow. The Band backed Dylan on tour after he first went electric with other musicians at the Newport Folk Festival. The Band said no to Eric Clapton when he wanted to join them. Robbie Robertson was just fine on guitar by himself.
This is the ultimate heavy blues combo nice saggy warm tones with a slow rise, Charlie's secret sweet hooch recipe fermented with a special blend of mesquite Woodstock and a AW Root beer chaser on the side, lol... 🍾🥃🍺
Great pedal, as usual! My favorite songs from the band, if I’m not trying to just name all the usual suspects: the night they drove old Dixie down and it makes no difference and the shape I’m in. Great great album.
I play bass. I love my various JHS pedals! I’ve been using them for years: the Morning Glory is one of my favorites. I use three (one on the board of every band I play in currently) and own a few more. I own and use about 20 JHS pedals. But, I have one question for JHS, I know they won’t like very much (simply because they don’t provide FOH mixing, 🤣): I would love (I need 🤒, 😬): a Morning Glory and a fuzz with a dedicated extra volume control for the dry sound in these pedals. (No ‘blend’! Two volumes: effect & dry!) Why? Simple: most FOH people don’t get it! How to mix a bass sound live... So, let’s give them a hand (fist!!)... I need to mix a fuzz sound and a low drive sound myself (on the pedal) with a dry signal. A blend knob won’t do: I need to be able to boost (or cut) one or the other myself on the fly, mostly the dry. So, I need a ‘dry boost’ knob. I’m a working bassist. I play more than two gigs a week (and work with ignorant FOH mostly). HELP!! 🤗 (Love you people!)
Nice, I play bass as well and I use a lot of guitar pedals adapted to the bass. Josh should release a special pedal line for bass, what do you think dude?
Another solution that allows you to route your signal the EXACT way you've described while being able to choose your own fuzz and drive sounds is the OBNE Signal Blender. It's also on my board and it also rocks.
Fast forward to 2024 and I just bought a V2 Moonshine… I play mostly lap steel and I needed an overdrive with a clean blend…. It has that… but….. it’s also one of the best sounding pedals I’ve played. Laps can get a little muddy on the bottom two strings. This pedal fixes that by retaining a clarity in the low end that is really amazing! It’s my low/medium gain always on coupled with the Wampler Euphoria for my higher gain stuff… don’t get one moonshine, get two… maybe one day we can get a cascading two channel Moonshine! 🙏
F*=k'n LOVE that new guitar! Always admired your pedlz, too! Great back story of your pedal design. Wish I knew this info 3-4 yrs ago. It's easy to get caught up in pedal trends based on slightly off/witty product names that connect with buyers. Much respect to an OG designer/manufacturer of tools for us guitar freaks!
I got given a T-Rex Diva (TS with clean blend) earlier this year. Mix knobs are definitely the way to go. Maybe one day I'll be able to splash the cash for a Moonshine!
The Moonshine did sound good with the bass. It is funny you bring up The Band as I decided yesterday to listen to more 60s music and listened to Music From the Big Pink. So good!
Anything sung by Richard Manuel, but especially "Whispering pines", "I Shall Be Released", and "Long Black Veil". Last Waltz versions of "Don't do it" and "Ophelia" are right up there though.
"I've played every Dumble and they all suck." LOL. "So, this pedal is how you have a Dumble sound that is actually Good" - Josh. Love you man. I have a dozen of your pedals and always at least one on the board no matter what I'm up to. Thank you for your service!
Had a V1 for a couple of years and it became pretty much an always-on pedal for a bit of mid-heavy crunch. Played a few gigs with it on bass and it was awesome, but recently got myself a V2 for dialling in that low-end bass thump. Probably gonna keep the V1 anyway, love them both.
Once again, great content JHS Team, you should be proud! The old teaser was great [as a video editor by trade I would have tightened some stuff up...but I'd give it a B+ 😉😜]!! All kidding aside, I own the Double Barrel and it will NOT leave my board, absolutely LOVE it. I play in a cover band with a bunch of middle aged people, and the Double Barrel just fits most of the 'Old Timey Stuff' that we cover [Stones, Skynyrd, Petty, ZZ Top, Led Zep, Faces, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello etc..etc]. Like Josh, my grandfather also ran liquor for the mob back in the 20's in DuBois, PA...so the Moonshine and Double Barrel have a special place in my heart. Folks, if you don't own a JHS Moonshine or Double Barrel....go get yourself one, you won't be sorry!
I love the old teaser! That was so hillbilly! I've never researched the Moonshine pedal. I really like the variety of tones. And great record time choice! I don't have a favorite song from The Band. Too many to good ones to choose from. My favorite Bob Dylan album though is Planet Waves, and I think the reason it sounds so great is because The Band is backing Dylan up.
I actually remember seeing that ad and had no idea what JHS was prior. But I also remember thinking “so what does it sound like?” The answer is that it sounds pretty damn great.
Long Black Veil is my fav by them right now. It changes over time. Music From Big Pink is a killer album. I would give anything to go back in time and hang out with the band while they were recording / writing in the big pink house. Screw pedals. Build a Time Machine.
I have this and the Kilt and these two pedals cover soooo much ground - both are criminally underrated imho. I love the Moonshine with the gain dimed, no clean blend, and the tone at noon. It’s the sound of rock n’ roll to my ears.
One of my absolute favorite pedals! I play bass in a doom band and I've used this as my clean tone, with just a little bit of drive rolled on. Pops out in all the best ways! Also use it as my overdrive when I play guitar. Will never part with it!
Fun fact, so that is why I was able to dial in the Rob Wright bass sound so convincingly. This pedal nails the sound of a P-bass through a Marshall 300 head into a guitar 4x12. Bonus points if you know the band.
Love the idea of a pedal that offers an effect while retaining the clean signal to be included in the outgoing signal. My fave tune by The Band? Chest Fever
The Dumble sound to me has always been "note bloom". There's just something pleasant about the way those circuits present the signal with a distinct attack, sustain, & decay that is different than every other "type" of amp circuit I hear. Some clean blended back into the signal definitely helps achieve that sort of attack character.
I was just going to buy an Archer OD this week-now I am undecided! The Last Waltz is fun to watch. Great gear-Robbie Robertson’s strat is so cool. Van Morrison steals the show? Maybe!! Joni very good (Coyote).
I love the Moondog Matinee album Josh. I'm guessing you've heard it. There's something magical about a great band doing covers. You're pedal sounds great to me.
I feel like each one should come packaged in a mason jar with a cinnamon stick. Also, i can't think of a single song by The Band that i don't like, so I'll list one i haven't seen on here yet. Arcadian Driftwood is one of those songs that tells a story you can just get lost listening to.
I think the Crowther Hotcake does something like this and it's part of why it is loved so much. It keeps some of the clean signal so even when it's distorted you still get some definition coming through. Maybe I'm imagining this - it's been a while. I will have to try one of your Moonshines - the demonstration here is great.
i'm one of the ones who saw the original trailer! still need one of these for Bass, though I'd love to see a 3 Series Bass OD too(the clean blend could be the switch)
The cornerstone gladio sc is another great dumble circuit, my favorite actually, have yet to try the moonshine. My grandpa used to sell moonshine to get by during the Great Depression.
This is my favorite pedal of yours. Saw Phill X playing one of these at the Joe Satriani Camp. Amazing sound!
Phil X can make anything sound so good! But yes what a killer pedal :) JHS for the win
Pedals are addictive. I have no money to buy them I hope God provides. SS steel string singer, Vertex boost, Vertex Amp. And now I want this too. 🙏🏽😢. I have the SSS and the Vrtx Boost.
4:50 Amazing, cinematography, amazing story telling. This hit my gut feeling.
11:15 now I want this one, Tilt without the skurt, and the Morning Glory 🙏🏽🇵🇷🎸
Still waiting for the barrel-aged version we were promised 😢
I've got the Double Barrel w the Moonshine, and the stand alone version. It's one of my favorite overdrives. Hasnt left my boards in years.
omg that teaser was amazing! I work in a store that proudly displays our JHS pedals. All of us music nerds at work love this show, and we love the pedals.
The moonshine is the one pedal I haven't been able to part with since I got it. I knew when I bought it I found something special.
OMG that old teaser was AWESOME! You guys always had so much class.
I've had a Fender Deluxe 85 for years. It has the ability to play the clean and dirty channels in parallel. It's a wicked sound.
yeah I've been a 2 Amp user for years but going parallel with a pa head is similar but especially if both have slightly different eqs the way reverb can like bloom from the clean side after a dynamic "hit" kind of breaks up the attack moment.
I drool every time you play that BilT. Hands down the best looking guitar
So good. I have the Fender FSR thinline Jag. This thing is next level
Great cinematography, great narrative, amazing people. I love this whole setup
I love these demonstrations. Keep up the great work! Also, that hand painted case was awesome!
Love how you explain the pedal and then show how it sounds. Much appreciated! More like this please.
Wow! That teaser vid was incredible!!! It was your first one???? That was some quality, I loved the blend of electronic parts and moonshine materials. Very well done
'Chewy' is a perfect description for this pedal. Gives me that great mid hump on my Strat but adds a nice thickness to everything.
My favorite pedal is the double barrel. The morning glory is always on and the moonshine kicks on for any Queens of the Stone Age covers.
I damn near cry every time I listen to 'it makes no difference' and always love the version of 'the weight' with the staple singers
Tears of Rage has been known to get me crying, as well as Unfaithful Servant and In A Station
All great tunes!
Great pedal. I need to go out and test one tomorrow. The Band backed Dylan on tour after he first went electric with other musicians at the Newport Folk Festival. The Band said no to Eric Clapton when he wanted to join them. Robbie Robertson was just fine on guitar by himself.
Clapton. The most overrated guitarist on the planet.
This was great Josh, more of these would be very welcome!
I’ve never tried a Moonshine but may well have to now!
This is the ultimate heavy blues combo nice saggy warm tones with a slow rise, Charlie's secret sweet hooch recipe fermented with a special blend of mesquite Woodstock and a AW Root beer chaser on the side, lol... 🍾🥃🍺
El Double Barrel es mi siguiente pedal , lo tengo claro desde que se lo ví a RJ Ronquillo y flipé. Pedalazo
Loved the old teaser!!! Awesome pedal too, going on my list for sure.
Awesome! Totally diggin’ the vibe. 🎶
The Band has so many great songs... If I had to pick just three, it will be "Bessie Smith", "Chest Fever" and "King Harvest (Has Surely Come".
Great pedal, as usual! My favorite songs from the band, if I’m not trying to just name all the usual suspects: the night they drove old Dixie down and it makes no difference and the shape I’m in. Great great album.
Ophelia is my favorite track by The Band!! love the shoutout there, everyone needs to watch The Last Waltz!!
I play bass.
I love my various JHS pedals! I’ve been using them for years: the Morning Glory is one of my favorites. I use three (one on the board of every band I play in currently) and own a few more.

HELP!! 🤗
(Love you people!)
Nice, I play bass as well and I use a lot of guitar pedals adapted to the bass. Josh should release a special pedal line for bass, what do you think dude?
Couldn’t you use splitter/summing pedals to have parallel effects with fuzz/overdrive on one line and clean boost on another?
This already exists. It's called the Beetronix Royal Jelly. I tour with it and it rocks.
Another solution that allows you to route your signal the EXACT way you've described while being able to choose your own fuzz and drive sounds is the OBNE Signal Blender. It's also on my board and it also rocks.
Xotic x blender is working for me
The teaser video is super cool. Thanks for sharing it again.
LOVE my moonshine v2 since day 1, i got other drives, but this one, never goes away from my side; simple, efective & good sounding box...
Fast forward to 2024 and I just bought a V2 Moonshine… I play mostly lap steel and I needed an overdrive with a clean blend…. It has that… but….. it’s also one of the best sounding pedals I’ve played. Laps can get a little muddy on the bottom two strings. As far as UA-camrs go, you can be pretty inspiring, man.
I shouldn’t have even qualified it. I love what you do.
What is that purple guitar? It really speaks to me.
You need to get a playlist together for your old promo's in date order .. I'd love that 💙
F*=k'n LOVE that new guitar! Always admired your pedlz, too! Great back story of your pedal design. Wish I knew this info 3-4 yrs ago. It's easy to get caught up in pedal trends based on slightly off/witty product names that connect with buyers. Much respect to an OG designer/manufacturer of tools for us guitar freaks!
man, that opening tune is what I want to learn how to play once I get done learning the main Hendrix songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got given a T-Rex Diva (TS with clean blend) earlier this year. Mix knobs are definitely the way to go. Maybe one day I'll be able to splash the cash for a Moonshine!
Picking a favourite Band song is tough indeed.. but "Acadian Driftwood" and "Chest Fever" are up at the top.
The Moonshine did sound good with the bass.
It is funny you bring up The Band as I decided yesterday to listen to more 60s music and listened to Music From the Big Pink. So good!
Really nice to see you pushin your own gear man.
Sending disturbed thoughts from Dorset, England! 🙃
I love my Moonshine V2. No wonder it sounds so good with my TB-303 clones, it was made for bass. 🙂
Just bought a double barrel and I'm stoked! Also, for record time song choice, The Band - It Makes No Difference. So good.
Anything sung by Richard Manuel, but especially "Whispering pines", "I Shall Be Released", and "Long Black Veil". Last Waltz versions of "Don't do it" and "Ophelia" are right up there though.
Love my Moonshine. Can’t pare down enough to get rid of it. One of my favorite dirt pedals.
Nice avocado. Saw you from a distance at the STL PJ show. Love the channel!
I’ve always been partial to the song “Atlantic City” which is an often overlooked.p tune of theirs. That intro mandolin riff is catchy!
The one I always go back to is the Last Waltz version of "The Weight" with the Staples Singers, but there are no bad tracks on that album
As Mavis says at the end, "beautiful"
New product suggestion combine that moonshine with a Solo Cup boost… for those of us who already have a Morning Glory 😂😂😂
Maybe put it in a standard enclosure like the AT+ with both switches on the narrow end…
…as always, you produce a great program: good job! This totally makes me want to buy a Moonshine!
"I've played every Dumble and they all suck." LOL. "So, this pedal is how you have a Dumble sound that is actually Good" - Josh.
Love you man. I have a dozen of your pedals and always at least one on the board no matter what I'm up to. Thank you for your service!
man....that first teaser video is FANTASTIC! ok, the pedal is also amazing! he he he! Cheers!
Wow!! Thanks for doing this review. I had no idea this pedal could do this. On my way to reverb to find one.
RIP, Robbie. Also, Levon Helm pronounced her name like my aunt: Oh-feel-ya.
No love for Sweet Tea? Ka-pow!
Such a great pedal, very underrated!
Sounds great and I really like that Bilt guitar .
Ill not only buy this pedal for its sound but for its historical relevance to creating/brewing moonshine!
“Don’t do it “ favorite band song!! The last waltz is a must see!!
The clean blend is awesome for country/chick’n picking, it’s my “Always on” ❤
I can't believe I overlooked this pedal. I bet it would sound great with my Pulp n Peel.
Once again, great content JHS Team, you should be proud! The old teaser was great [as a video editor by trade I would have tightened some stuff up...but I'd give it a B+ 😉😜]!! time was slower in 2013 😂
Rag mama rag! The night they drove old Dixie down!
LEVON!
I have several favorite Band songs, but if I had to pick one I'd have to go with The Shape I'm In. Amazing song and they played it beautifully.
Love this pedal. The JHS Moonshine V2 & Boss BD-2 Waza are the only drives in my collection I can leave on all the time & not give me ear fatigue.
I love the old teaser! That was so hillbilly! I've never researched the Moonshine pedal. I really like the variety of tones. And great record time choice! I don't have a favorite song from The Band. I don't often comment, but when I do, it's that Josh Scott turned a "hip hop type beat" into an Isbell intro and I'm here for it.
I have this and the Kilt and these two pedals cover soooo much ground - both are criminally underrated imho. I love the Moonshine with the gain dimed, no clean blend, and the tone at noon. It’s the sound of rock n’ roll to my ears.
That teaser was dope!
That low drive pedal looks so cool
@JHS Pedals, a top mount jack Moonshine would be amazing. Please make the next version this!
The way you explain this pedal...I need to play through one now...
I love this pedal 🔥
Loved than Josh, I always really enjoy your playing man.
Awesome teaser video
One of my absolute favorite pedals! I play bass in a doom band and I've used this as my clean tone, with just a little bit of drive rolled on. Pops out in all the best ways! Also use it as my overdrive when I play guitar. Will never part with it!
About using it on bass, did you get that morning glory's transparent overdrive vibe?
This pedal pairs nicely with actual moonshine. XXX🎸🥃
Drink enough moonshine and anything will sound good 😂
@@TylerJohnstonGuitar I think you just discovered why I sound good.🎸🤔
LOVE that old teaser vid!!!
Still on my pedal board!! Love this pedal
nice!
Fun fact, so that is why I was able to dial in the Rob Wright bass sound so convincingly. This pedal nails the sound of a P-bass through a Marshall 300 head into a guitar 4x12. Bonus points if you know the band.
That 2013 video is awesome!
I miss the live session jams with Addison and Nick.
Love the idea of a pedal that offers an effect while retaining the clean signal to be included in the outgoing signal.
My fave tune by The Band?
Chest Fever
Great information 😎👍
Thanks 😎✌👍❤🖖

I’m plugging in my Moonshine pedal again right now! ❤
That brown semihollow guitar is amazeballs
I was just going to buy an Archer OD this week-now I am undecided!
The Last Waltz is fun to watch. Great gear-Robbie Robertson’s strat is so cool. Van Morrison steals the show? Maybe!! Joni very good (Coyote).
That's a great sounding pedal. Josh, you give me GAS.
I love the Moondog Matinee album Josh. I'm guessing you've heard it. There's something magical about a great band doing covers. You're pedal sounds great to me.
hurray...a produced video! And yes, that would be in direct contrast to structureless live streams.
I feel like each one should come packaged in a mason jar with a cinnamon stick.
Also, i can't think of a single song by The Band that i don't like, so I'll list one i haven't seen on here yet. Arcadian Driftwood is one of those songs that tells a story you can just get lost listening to.
Ooooo I’ve been on a Dumble Pedal kick as of late! Acquired The Dude & Shin Juku Drive, Might have to try the Moonshine! 🤘👽👽👽🎸
I think the Crowther Hotcake does something like this and it's part of why it is loved so much. It keeps some of the clean signal so even when it's distorted you still get some definition coming through. Maybe I'm imagining this - it's been a while. Yeh I love this pedal would be a great addition to my board
Cool stuff boss.
Great intro line to jam on!
The cornerstone gladio sc is another great dumble circuit, my favorite actually, have yet to try the moonshine. My grandpa used to sell moonshine to get by during the Great Depression.
אין עילך גל! תודה!!
Great video.. NICE JUGS!
