This 20+ video series comprises all the videos I took for myself to remember all the steps to do a complete tear down of a GM Chevy Tahoe 5.3 Vortec (LS type) engine. I don’t intend for this to be a “how to” video for others, as I am a complete novice myself. This is my journey and I recorded it for me. I include references to some of the most helpful videos that I watched along the way. If this, by chance, helps someone else, great!

Nowhere near enough likes on these videos. This is by far the most helpful and detailed engine rebuild series I've seen on UA-cam.

I decided to help my daughter and it has not been pleasant. She was told her 07 5.3 lt Suburban needed a cam and lifters for $2,500. I used to rebuild engines for 26 years so I thought what the heck, it can't be that bad. It was worse. No problem with the cam and lifters, but the rear main was leaking and an exhaust valve was badly burned. This darn wiring harness is a challenge and all these complicated connectors are a pain!

I love this video 1. It helps 2. He is just as irritated as I am with the wiring harness

I agree with you about how every single clip(not quite) has to have it's own locking mechanism, so frustrating! Thanks for your video series, very helpful.

Batshit gm engineering. Thanks for this.
Enjoyed the frustration that I share.
Putting back together my swapped in, built 6.0.
The real fun will be hooking up the Holley EFI which will be pig tailed off the factory Computer.
For sure some of the harness will be cut out.
Trying to come up with the work around to not lose the 4wd

So far I've watched episodes 1 - 16 and from what I can tell this looks completely masochistic -- a complete pain in the ass and I don't know why anyone would do it. It looks like it was intentionally obfuscated.

You're right. i went through all that trouble to waste people's time. i see by the amount of content on your channel that you have never attempted to try anything at all, video it, edit it, and put it out there for others - so when you have please let us know. I'm sure it will be worthy of an Emmy award.

@@TahoeSteve Seems there was a bit of a misunderstanding. I watched every video you have on it and enjoyed them very much, my comment was aimed more towards the difficulty in removing the engine, tracking down those hard to reach nuts and bolts -- where it seemed like the engineering was designed to make it difficult rather than accessible. So far, as for a complete tear down, you seem have the most complete playlist, you did an amazing job and I look forward to more of your content.
