For all of you that came here in pain, it starts at 3:46 Update: guys i went to the ER after 2 days and they gave me the exact instructions keep ice 15 mins multiple times a day keep it up and dont put pressure on it. And make sure ur leg isn’t broken, mine did. Took 4-6 weeks to heal (mine was severe, 3 tendons were teared) and 5 physiotherapy sessions. Now its brand new

The exact same thing happened to me. I rippled it at school, put it on ice for a while, took the ice off, walked home then it started to swell and hurt tremendously now I’m scrolling through the comments section of this video.

Been having this crap a lot and the worst is were I freaking broke my ankle. And man Oman that hurt and that experience and afterwards was a literal pain. Oh and I spray my ankle days ago ( if though I was just standing.) and thankfully it didn’t hurt a lot. ( like as if I getting pain tolerance or something.) seriously it’s like you need body manipulation to manipulate your feet to either make your feet giant or have your feet anchored to the Ground like the Siege Tanks from Starcraft.( Back when Blizzard was good and not corrupted.).
The worst part about having a sprained ankle is your significant other thinking you're a crybaby and you're are just being lazy even though you're in pain!
I was playing basketball today i was doing so good that when i asked for a sub they said nah and told me to keep playing i was still making my shots tho i probably messed it up more
@@dustytrayl It sure does. You gotta heal it once and for all. How long have you had it? It's easier to cure in it's early stages. I had the same problem before and took rehab and it cured me fully. Let me know if you need help.

I used a kids exercise ball (15") to elevate my sprained ankle. It was comfortable, allowed me to move/flex my foot, do letters, and roll my calf. It was also higher than the pillows. Slightly underinflated worked the best. I am 73. PS Thank you for all your PT help. I have referred to it many times over the years when I have had questions. 🥰
@@fannysandoval2799 Don’t be like me. Go to the doctor. When I hurt my ankle I didn’t go to the doctor. 3-4 months after I injured my ankle... I noticed it still hurt. I went to doctor and he said I should have come way earlier. He was so disappointed 😢

Another excellent video guys. I find that tall people and those in team sports with sudden stop/start movements, particularly basketball players, are more prone to ankle injuries than other people. Also, those who rush around impulsively are more likely to go off balance and sprain the ankle. Ankle sprains are nature’s way of telling you to slow down a bit.
That segment of relax, breathe, and roll with it actually was the biggest help. I didn’t even realize it but I was having a panic attack. I couldn’t breathe at all and I was getting dizzy and I started overthinking.
Messed my ankle up skating. Literally my first day with a board and i end up with a swelled ankle. The worst thing is I was skating for like 2 hours after i got it bc i thought i scraped my ankle not sprained lol.

Just sprained my right foot yesterday. I can't even walk without feeling pain. Hopefully, it'll get better quickly. Update (after a week): I can lightly walk on it now, and it's starting to bruise. Luckily, it's not a fracture. Let's all get better!

On the 4th week, the bruising was gone but my foot still feels a little "tight" when I try to turn it on the left side. On the 5th week, there is still this "tight" feeling to it but I can walk properly on it now but not as good as my left foot.

Well with me, I just got done with my surgery, I thought this was just a normal sprain but my ATFL was broken, and it had an infection inside. I'm just one day into my recovery. It hurts alot but just have to rest. How did you get through the process of it? Needing some positive motivation words here.
Yup- i was in MIDFIELD in lacrosse and I rolled it. And had to keep sprinting. My coach thought I was fine but she felt SO BAD when she heard it was sprained all along 💀👍

i fell on stairs when I missed a step, twisted my right ankle, and sat on it because of impact. It is less painful now, (3 days already) but im too afraid to put weight on it so i can just stand but put my weight on the other leg. I don't know what todo. I'm limping in my sprained ankle when I need to walk. But I have been staying off of it if I don't need to walk anywhere and while I lie down I stretch it occasionally so it doesn't get stiff. I have been keeping my ankle up with ice and a wrap. So hopefully soon I will heal up.

I just sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago I still have swelling but I have little pain, at 5:20 you guys talked about the compressing pushing the fluids from the swelling back into the body so does that mean compress and elevate at the same time or even without elevation the compression still pushes it back up?
I ripped three out of the four ligaments in my right ankle...again...(Former Paratrooper). I ballooned right up and turned black and blue. I slapped ice on it, under an ace bandage and elevated it. When the ice packs would warm up, id put them back into the freezer and I would stick my foot inside our Hot Tub for a little while. Then later on, repeat the process. I bought a lace up ankle brace for it but, it sure is Banging !! After I got the swelling down, I went and had X-Rays done on it. Going to get the report tomorrow.
I sprained my ankle today while playing basketball, I go for the rebound and landed on another player's foot. I can actually heard the crack. It has been a long time since I last sprained and it's pretty bad. I've sprained like a dozen times of just my left foot😹
@@william.dinh_ resting for a few days, and I don't just wrap and compressed the ankle did some ankle mobility and strengthening exercises and rolling a tennis ball under the foot with pressure, it actually helped alot👍 Ps. Before it fully recovered I started balling again since I was so restless but luckily it healed later on. But I don't recommend even if you are playing consciously cuz injured ankle can easily snap again.
@@william.dinh_ I rested for like 2 weeks, and continued playing without fully recover but later on it healed after like 4 weeks after the injury do the above exercises that I mentioned and you'll quickly recover. Get well soon brotha!🙏

When u sprain ur ankle really bad, swelling can actually last a few months. I fractured my pinkie finger n it’s been permanently swollen for 5 years, now I’ve sprained my ankle it’s been sprained for 2 months but reducing by the weeks. This process is completely normal.

Mohamed Orayith if it’s still bruised with very obvious colour difference to the skin (green, black, blue, purple bruises) then stop walking and make sure u rest your foot. Just sit back and relax for atleast a solid week and avoid any movement on the ankle. After hot showers or baths, elevate ur foot upwards so blood flow will decrease, reducing swelling. If u notice ur skin seems to be very dry around ur ankle n comes off easily then it means ur foot hasn’t been rested enough and will continue to stay at its state unless u rest it.
Threatonator thank you for the reply. My foot is not coloured nor dry. It is just overly swollen and my ankle is stiff and hurts when performing rotations or resting on my heel (feels like my ankle is in two pieces) I can walk and run but it hurts and it’s abnormally swollen. Help 🙏🏼

I can walk pretty well and trying to do some strengthening exercises you showed. But couldn't find any video on your channel about how to regain normal range for plantar flexion? I am really worried that I have some scar tissue built up (I was in a cast for 3 weeks initially), and probably some special massage to loosen that up is very needed. Could you please help? Do you offer online consultations?. Thanks!
At football practice I rolled my ankle running up hill. At first it didn't really hurt and was bearable, but a few minutes after I got home my ankle just started to hurt and any slight pressure causes lots of pain😭 I hope my ankle heals soon so I don't miss out on game day😓 I can barley walk without screaming like a baby😂

I am a teacher and sprained my ankle a year ago while coming down the stairs. Xray showed no fracture but MRI showed inflammatory synovitis with mild ankle joint effusion. I had no option to quit the job at that time, so I took no rest and kept working all days. I used to get cramps and pain while standing, walking, climbing stairs and swelling by the end of the day. The injury became more serious and I had to quit the job. It's been almost 2 months now I have been resting at home. But still I can't walk properly and my ankle shows stiffness, redness, swelling and burning pain. I can climb the stairs but can't go down the stairs easily. It really hurts. I feel hopeless and helpless thinking that my ankle has been permanently damaged. Not understanding what to do.... totally fed up now.☹️😫 Someone please suggest what should be done?

A bucket full of hot water . Sup your feet in that hot water ( I meant hot water not warm or luke warm , hot here is something that your feet can dip with little comfort first than it settles down with time but won’t burn ) . Dip it for 20-30 minutes ~ it’s 50% cure first time . Do it again after 1 hour and again after 2-3 hours. You’re healed in a day almost 80% and than do it same next day 1-2 time , you’re absolutely healed 3rd day . Thanks

Quick question. I went to the hospital yesterday and they put my food in a metal brace wrapped in this weird material. Any way my ankle is black & blue everywhere. This morning when I woke up these huge blisters formed on both sides of the ankle. These blisters are huge - probably 1.5 inches. What are the blisters all about?

Well, I guess I got one thing right, lol. At least I did the exercises... Fractured my ankle (and snapped a ligament/tendon - can never remember which is which) a couple of years ago - gave it a couple of days of alternating between a bucket of ice-water and elevation, with moving it around to make sure it could, then pretty much ignored it and tried to walk normally. Result was I had to spend a couple of years doing martial arts training with a neopreen support on it before it finally got strong enough to be reliable again. Listen to Bob and Brad, don't follow my example :)
@@elisoria3119 Took a couple of years to fully heal -although that's probably more due to only resting it for a couple of days. The bucket of ice-water did what you'd expect - it brought the swelling down. The basic protocol for sports injuries is RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) - I didn't have the patience for the Rest part, but they're all worth doing.

I was being stupid today and I got my foot stuck in a fence and I ran backwards and fell on my ankle they got me ankle stuck in a fence again and it’s swollen but no bruises and it doesn’t hurt when I walk is in sprained my ankle or not
My chiropractor says my heel bone was out and that my ankles are weak. On my left (longer foot) I have pain on top of my foot, plantar fasciitis pain, and my heel was out. I have an old sprain on the putter side of my ankle. On my right foot I have pain on top of my foot on the putter right side of it and on the inner side going into my arch. My Achilles tendon has also been a problem for years. I’ve lived a sedentary lifestyle for a while and have always been very petite but am 18 months postpartum and gained A LOT of weight during pregnancy which exacerbated my issues. I developed shin splits during the late stages of my pregnancy. How should I start healing all these old injuries? My poor feet and ankles can’t take very much impact right now. I’m 29!

I was riding my bike I hit a rail on the A frame and my pedal slipped my ankle went under my pedal and like rolled thank god I didn’t break it I feel everything I can move everything it is just bruised but not too bad and swelled up and it hurts to walk

Just sprained my right foot yesterday. I can't even walk without feeling pain. Hopefully, it'll get better quickly.
Update (after a week):
I can lightly walk on it now, and it's starting to bruise. Luckily, it's not a fracture. Let's all get better!

@@m-dot5017 @M -Dot Hi, mine is an inversion sprain. On the 3rd week, I can walk on it without feeling any pain and the color of its bruise was a bit yellow green. On the 4th week, the bruising was gone but my foot still feels a little "tight" when I try to turn it on the left side. On the 5th week, there is still this "tight" feeling to it but I can walk properly on it now but not as good as my left foot.

Well with me, I just got done with my surgery, I thought this was just a normal sprain but my ATFL was broken, and it had an infection inside. I'm just one day into my recovery. It hurts alot but just have to rest. How did you get through the process of it? Needing some positive motivation words here.

Yup- i was in MIDFIELD in lacrosse and I rolled it. And had to keep sprinting. My coach thought I was fine but she felt SO BAD when she heard it was sprained all along 💀👍

i fell on stairs when I missed a step, twisted my right ankle, and sat on it because of impact. It is less painful now, (3 days already) but im too afraid to put weight on it so i can just stand but put my weight on the other leg. I don't know what todo. Should i try walking on the sprained leg or give it a bit more rest

I hit a ball weirdly yesterday and I woke up today to the feeling of a sprained ankle. I’ve been out for three weeks due to quad injury and slicing my finger on a meat slicer and I’ve said that I’m good to play today in a game. So here I am figuring out how to play in 6 hours.
I'm limping in my sprained ankle when I need to walk. But I have been staying off of it if I don't need to walk anywhere and while I lie down I stretch it occasionally so it doesn't get stiff. I have been keeping my ankle up with ice and a wrap. So hopefully soon I will heal up.

I just sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago I still have swelling but I have little pain, at 5:20 you guys talked about the compressing pushing the fluids from the swelling back into the body so does that mean compress and elevate at the same time or even without elevation the compression still pushes it back up?
I wear compression socks and still elevate my foot whenever I can. Moonboot for 6 weeks now ankle brace in a shoe when working/walking.
I ripped three out of the four ligaments in my right ankle...again...(Former Paratrooper). I ballooned right up and turned black and blue. I slapped ice on it, under an ace bandage and elevated it. When the ice packs would warm up, id put them back into the freezer and I would stick my foot inside our Hot Tub for a little while. Then later on, repeat the process. I bought a lace up ankle brace for it but, it sure is Banging !! After I got the swelling down, I went and had X-Rays done on it. Going to get the report tomorrow.
I sprained my ankle today while playing basketball, I go for the rebound and landed on another player's foot. I can actually heard the crack. It has been a long time since I last sprained and it's pretty bad. I've sprained like a dozen times of just my left foot😹

@@william.dinh_ resting for a few days, and I don't just wrap and compressed the ankle did some ankle mobility and strengthening exercises and rolling a tennis ball under the foot with pressure, it actually helped alot👍
Ps. Before it fully recovered I started balling again since I was so restless but luckily it healed later on. But I don't recommend even if you are playing consciously cuz injured ankle can easily snap again.

@@william.dinh_ I rested for like 2 weeks, and continued playing without fully recover but later on it healed after like 4 weeks after the injury do the above exercises that I mentioned and you'll quickly recover. Get well soon brotha!🙏

When u sprain ur ankle really bad, swelling can actually last a few months. I fractured my pinkie finger n it’s been permanently swollen for 5 years, now I’ve sprained my ankle it’s been sprained for 2 months but reducing by the weeks. This process is completely normal.

Mohamed Orayith if it’s still bruised with very obvious colour difference to the skin (green, black, blue, purple bruises) then stop walking and make sure u rest your foot. Just sit back and relax for atleast a solid week and avoid any movement on the ankle. After hot showers or baths, elevate ur foot upwards so blood flow will decrease, reducing swelling. If u notice ur skin seems to be very dry around ur ankle n comes off easily then it means ur foot hasn’t been rested enough and will continue to stay at its state unless u rest it.

My foot is not coloured nor dry. It is just overly swollen and my ankle is stiff and hurts when performing rotations or resting on my heel (feels like my ankle is in two pieces)

Start taping your foot and do lots of stability and rehab exercises to minimize the risk of spraining it again

I can walk pretty well and trying to do some strengthening exercises you showed. But couldn't find any video on your channel about how to regain normal range for plantar flexion? I am really worried that I have some scar tissue built up (I was in a cast for 3 weeks initially), and probably some special massage to loosen that up is very needed. Could you please help? At football practice I rolled my ankle running up hill. At first it didn't really hurt and was bearable, but a few minutes after I got home my ankle just started to hurt and any slight pressure causes lots of pain😭 I hope my ankle heals soon so I don't miss out on game day😓 I can barley walk without screaming like a baby😂

@@ValenN123 It was swollen for almost 2 weeks and was very painful, but I just kept applying ice and resting trying not to walk on it to much and now 1 month later I feel much better and im ready to play! I hope you get better soon aswell!

I am a teacher and sprained my ankle a year ago while coming down the stairs. Xray showed no fracture but MRI showed inflammatory synovitis with mild ankle joint effusion. I had no option to quit the job at that time, so I took no rest and kept working all days. I used to get cramps and pain while standing, walking, climbing stairs and swelling by the end of the day. The injury became more serious and I had to quit the job. It's been almost 2 months now I have been resting at home. But still I can't walk properly and my ankle shows stiffness, redness, swelling and burning pain. I can climb the stairs but can't go down the stairs easily. It really hurts. I feel hopeless and helpless thinking that my ankle has been permanently damaged. Not understanding what to do.... totally fed up now.☹️😫

A bucket full of hot water . Sup your feet in that hot water ( I meant hot water not warm or luke warm , hot here is something that your feet can dip with little comfort first than it settles down with time but won’t burn ) . Dip it for 20-30 minutes ~ it’s 50% cure first time . Do it again after 1 hour and again after 2-3 hours. You’re healed in a day almost 80% and than do it same next day 1-2 time , you’re absolutely healed 3rd day . Thanks

Quick question. I went to the hospital yesterday and they put my food in a metal brace wrapped in this weird material. Any way my ankle is black & blue everywhere. This morning when I woke up these huge blisters formed on both sides of the ankle. These blisters are huge - probably 1.5 inches. What are the blisters all about?

Well, I guess I got one thing right, lol. At least I did the exercises... Fractured my ankle (and snapped a ligament/tendon - can never remember which is which) a couple of years ago - gave it a couple of days of alternating between a bucket of ice-water and elevation, with moving it around to make sure it could, then pretty much ignored it and tried to walk normally. Result was I had to spend a couple of years doing martial arts training with a neopreen support on it before it finally got strong enough to be reliable again. Listen to Bob and Brad, don't follow my example :)
How long did it take to heal up? Did the bucket of ice water work?
@@elisoria3119 Took a couple of years to fully heal -although that's probably more due to only resting it for a couple of days. The bucket of ice-water did what you'd expect - it brought the swelling down. The basic protocol for sports injuries is RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) - I didn't have the patience for the Rest part, but they're all worth doing.
Was hanging out at my church group and we decided to play hide in seek. Short story short I tripped down some stairs and now I'm here. Trying to put on a tiff face so I don't seem wimpy.💀💀💀

My chiropractor says my heel bone was out and that my ankles are weak.
On my left (longer foot) I have pain on top of my foot, plantar fasciitis pain, and my heel was out. I have an old sprain on the putter side of my ankle.
On my right foot I have pain on top of my foot on the putter right side of it and on the inner side going into my arch. My Achilles tendon has also been a problem for years.
I’ve lived a sedentary lifestyle for a while and have always been very petite but am 18 months postpartum and gained A LOT of weight during pregnancy which exacerbated my issues. I developed shin splits during the late stages of my pregnancy.
How should I start healing all these old injuries? My poor feet and ankles can’t take very much impact right now. I’m 29!

I was riding my bike I hit a rail on the A frame and my pedal slipped my ankle went under my pedal and like rolled thank god I didn’t break it I feel everything I can move everything it is just bruised but not too bad and swelled up and it hurts to walk
