As a Dallas fan, those injuries definitely took most the excitement about that win. Barkley was making a nice recovery and Danny was looking good this season. Hope they both get back ASAP
I’m a Cowboys fan too and absolutely agree. Never like to see guys go down.
Im a cowboys fan n I'm not as nice as you guys. Im glad they went down. Fuck em both AND that reciever Tony for throwing that punch.

Man happened to me 5 hours ago, just have some swelling now, painful to move foot to the side, can it heal in like couple days?
It’s not broken and no sign of bloody marks
@@RedRumble14 it depends, do you have any bruising? I sprained mines 5 weeks ago and its starting to get completely healed, if theres bruising then you will probably have to wait around 3-5 weeks probably, if your playing a sport just dont play on it at all, I made that mistake thinking it was fine around after 1 week and now Im waiting longer. Just give it time and dont play on it until it starts feeling way better and theres no pain. Youll have to start rehab soon doing physical therapy which is what I did everyday after around 3 weeks which helped strengthen it. Also Icing is good for around a week until swelling goes down after that let it be, inflammation is apart of the healing process and the swelling does eventually go down even without ice. Icing delays healing but does help swelling.
@@sethwilson3292 thanks for a solid reply! I’ve got some light strain, no bruises or bloody marks, just swelling which is slowly going away now in day 3. They tapped my ankle as well to stabilise it and reduce swelling. I’ve already done 3 physiotherapy.
As I understand, it’s vital not to go back into sports too soon not to make it worse and recover to the fullest. I don’t do sport tho, but had a plan of running in about 3 weeks from now, hopefully il be fine by that that and by Tuesday they will take the tape off and I ll be able to walk without limping.
Your injury seems as a more serious one, hope u recover soon!

Anytime I see these serious ankle sprains, I always cringe, as I suffered a severe grade 3 ankle sprain some years ago. Like Barkley it was to my left ankle with my foot pointed down, but I was running down stairs at full speed (the last part of my 5 mile run that night) and my left foot hit the last stair on it's edge. I heard a loud "crack".
I found out later it was not a bone breaking, but a ligament ripping apart. In all, I had torn two lower ligaments and chipped a bone in the same area. And as bad as Barkley's swelling was, my left ankle was much worse. To this day I can't believe how fast my ankle blew up, like a balloon.
As far as treatment, they suggested surgery to remove the bone chips, and a hard cast for the torn ligaments. With the surgery, hard cast, and months of physical therapy, it took about 6 months to start getting back to normal.
3-6 weeks for people like you and me, 2-4 with the best doctors and medical treatments in the NFL
And the best painkillers
I agree it took me I think 3-4 weeks for mine to completely heal but it sucks getting over that first week not being able to put weight on it. I rolled my ankle something vicious on a half pipe before. That first week of healing is the hardest part. So much pain I honestly could barely sleep that first week.
Definitely not 2 weeks but 4 weeks yea its possible.
I sprained my ankle and I was back playing football after a week and a half. I was doing physio and am very young so that may impact it
@Carson Wentz and he was young
I’ve torn my ATFL 3 times….. However the last time I did, I opted for PRP injections…. This absolutely worked for me, I was genuinely shocked on how fast, how strong and how durable my ankle was after this procedure
This is my worst enemy it’s happened to me so many times.😪 It stops my fitness progress in its tracks.😔

Cool review. Separately, its amazing how fast the body can fix/heal itself. How your body can reattach a completely torn ligament to the point where you have normal function. Amazing stuff
Great job Doc.! Thank you very much!
Saquon just can't catch a break. He's just an amazing talent but can't stay healthy.

Thank you for making this video because as a giants fan I’m not doing well after this our entire offense is injured.
Dear Cowboys and Giants:
If you could play a game of football without someone getting an ugly ankle injury, that would be great.
Thank you,
I dont think its possible. 4 players ankles got hurt today
Yeah these teams want to hurt one another.
@@soloplaysgames9965 the barkley one (not tryna be that guy) looked a little intentional. He looked down at his ankle and extended his leg out farther than someone normally does. But it could just be a coincidence idrk
@@airlo2543 I understand and its possible. I thought it looked intentional in real time but in slow mo it seems like an accident. But these teams now hate each other more than any other nfc east teams and they could have had bad blood from last year. That's why cowboys worked with the eagles just to screw them. But it could just be the violence everyone was running around with. I too don't really know.
We got our revenge don't fuck with us
I just sprained my ankle today and my ankle looks exactly like his.. blown up like a balloon fell on a cracked ground outside a store and it hurt bad but I got up and continued limping home about 1 block an a half I got 3 houses down from my house and couldn’t walk anymore my entire foot ankle and toes went fully numb with severe pains!! Paramedic came I didn’t go to hospital bc had no way back .. but they looked at it said it’s a sprain and they bandaged it up told me to R.I.CE for the first 72 hours then I can use heat as hot baths, I work and I had to tell my boss he said I can stay home for 4 days so I PRAY by 4 days I’m able to work again even tho rn my ankle bone is swollen up like a golf ball numb tingly and severe pain
How’s your foot now?
I'm a Dallas fan but I love when other NFC East teams shine....I hope SB and DJ can get back on the field quickly! The team was just beginning to spark!
Predicate that man. I’ve seen so many Dallas fans use this as a +1 because of Dak getting injured in their meeting last year. In actuality nobody should wanna see any players injured

I had a severe ankle sprain that blew up Just like this and healed after a week hopefully that’s all it is
Dr . Bro-man Sutterer you never let us down . A true bro
Having sprained both ankles numerous times I cringe when I see Barkley’s injury mechanism. I recall the first time playing high school basketball, and the level 10 pain during the first 10 minutes. And, the swelling. My God. I had no idea that an ankle could swell that large. It takes 3-4 weeks to just be able to fully weight bare. I wish this great athlete the best. He will not be hindered in his talents once all is healed, if there are no fractures, etc.
Thank you for the education!
this exact injury happened to me when i was playing basketball on friday and it was extremely inflamed, i did not get it x-rayed but the swelling has went down quite a bit. it is still in a lot of pain and changing colors.
I had a grade 3 I was out almost 6 months before I could use it fully
I just watched your video on saquons ankle injury 2 years ago to make sure it wasn’t the same ankle
Thanks again for keeping us in the loop doc
Man, that was fast! Talk about being on top of it :)
Had a softball size mass on my ankle a few years back. That shit hurts
Wishing for a speedy recovery for Barkley. Thanks for the breakdown, doc! Great video!
This one made me wince. As a soccer player, I’ve sprained my ankles like this so many times.
As a lifelong skateboarder, I've had that injury at least 5 times. It's not as bad as it looks. 4-5 weeks.
you think i can jog in 4-5 weeks?
@4ozking yes. It might hurt a little when cutting but jogging straight will be fine
Doc, can you explain Joe Judge's head injury? Symptoms include thinking it's a good idea to still throw the ball down field with 1:52 left, no timeouts, and down by 17?
Joe was dropped on his head as a baby. Thats the only explanation I can think of 🤔
I loved this video I had a similar sprain( if it's not broken) when I was in high school. It was rough and my ankle still gives out every now and again.
Man happened to me 5 hours ago, just have some swelling now, painful to move foot to the side, can it heal in like couple days?
It’s not broken and no sign of bloody marks. Like some minimal strain…
I had a similar injury many years ago...back in 1975. My doctor didn't even x-ray my foot. I found out 30 years later that my 5th Metatarsal had been broken....when I broke it again almost in the same place! Both times it took about 2 months to heal! It lets me know when low pressure systems are heading our way!!
I really appreciate the love to the Flint Michigan Tropics. I always feel alone on an island with how much I truly love Semi Pro.
Had this same type of injury in high school. Same processes of rolling and swelling. Led to so many other complications…….flash backs
Watched this later to see if you got it right...sources say low ankle sprain, week to week...nailed it. Classic doc .
You are on the ball (no pun intended) with these videos. So impressive. Idk how you get to these videos so quick
I had to hop all the way home from the gym on one foot when I was 16 when I turned my ankle just like that. It swells like crazy and is mighty painful, but it heals up nicely. Nothing like a high sprain, where the pain lingers for months. After several sprains, I went high top sneakers the rest of my playing days. Over 30 yrs of main court basketball, I probably had about a dozen sprained ankles. Thank God I never had any problems with my knees, but my left ankle clicks sometimes when I walk. It doesn't hurt, but you get a lot of free sympathy from people when they hear it.
Achilles rupture is the worst. Ended my playing days and had me on crutches for 3 months and nearly put me in the poor house.
Thank God for golf, because not being able to play anymore was devastating psychologically.
this literally happened to me 15 minutes ago and that’s why i’m watching this video. I also did it at the gym and I am also 16

Ive had that same sprain. Sucks man and i hope SB has a quick recovery. Hate to see it.
Thank you for explaining, and breaking this down.
Happens the same with me no fracture just swelling and healing in one weak seems unrealistic. Took me a good month to recover well and get back to gym. 1 week is too fast for me.
Poor kid, man. Such a talent. It takes some serious mental toughness to play any pro sport, let alone football. Hope he gets healthy and stays healthy.
Great presentation, great series. Please keep them coming. At 5:09, metatarsal rather than metacarpal, as you know. But, that is nitpicking. This is very good information about athletic injuries, and each presentation has been a treasure. Thank you.

As someone who has bad luck with ankle injury’s and a giants fan, I can’t watch the replay. It literally hurts me mentally to see it, idk why but any ankle injury’s make me feel sick. Prayers for Saquon.
Great video as always, Doc! You mistakenly called the 5th metatarsal the metacarpal which as a PT student I get mixed up on that all the time 😂
Andrew you are adorable ❤
5th matacarpal is located in the hand. 5th metatarsal is what I believe he meant when describing possible fracture associated with his injury.
Brian, if you have an opportunity, can you do a video on TFCC/ECU injuries? I learn a lot from these vids
I've never came across your channel on UA-cam. Very cool stuff. Definitely will subscribe
my ankle did this after a bad fracture when my ankle rolled. it still has "pops" from time to time and has moments when i get sharp pain but it isnt often.
Similar injury had me in a walking boot in high school. Coming down from shooting a jumpshot, landed on someones foot. Actually chipped a bone in my foot though. Never forget the pain of rolling your ankle.
*5th metatarsal @5:07 but nonetheless, great work as always Doctor!
How many fantasy owners are here?! 😂
When I watched this happen, I was on my bed wearing a a Saquon jersey, with my foot elevated on a pillow, recovering from this EXACT injury on my left foot. Mine wasn’t AS severe, but a grade 2 and I still had major swelling and bruising all over the foot. Wild
ithats tough i had a similar injury… HOW does someone recover from this? what are some exercises (physical therapy) to do for recovery? THANK YOU
I'm not sure if this was mentioned but you said possible avulsion of the 5th METACARPAL - wrong bone...5th METATARSAL.
I'll be straight up with you. I had this exact same thing happen to me 3 times last year. Twice they said to me it was broken, which it ended up being only a sprain both times. Learned a lot about these things from you and myself. They took for me about a week to two weeks to be way less painful and about 3-5 to get back to running like healthy. The other one I was able to run the day after even tho it swelled up a lot like that. He'll probably be out for 3-5 weeks just because of his bad bad history
This is all before watching. I'm hoping what I said here you agree with so I know to become a full time doctor
I broke my foot in a similar way last year. Not stepping on a foot while running but I rolled my ankle into a similar position. I was carrying a heavy box and rolled it while stepping down a half step to my patio. I got an avulsion fracture where the tendon on the outside of my ankle pulled on my 5th metatarsal with enough force to break about 2 cm of the end of the bone off.
I can tell you it was tough to heal, but luckily I didn't need surgery. Apparently the blood flow to that bone is a major concern and that can effect the healing process. If you don't have enough blood flow the bone fragments wont reattach to each other sturdily enough or your bones could sort of waste/dissolve away because they die.
I was in a cast/boot for 2 months (non weight bearing). And then slowly weaned off on a walking boot for 4 weeks. I would wear for first week during the day (but was able to sleep with it off thank god) and then over successive weeks I wore it less and less hours of the day. After that was physical therapy once a week for 3 months.
If you've never had an injury like that before it's hard to prepare for what it does to you mentally. The soreness related to the injury and healing was expected but I found the balance exercises the most difficult. It took me way longer to trust my foot than I could have expected. Even though I had put more force through my foot in other exercises and knew it was structurally sound, I had trouble committing to exercises where I would lean laterally over the outside arch of my foot. That hesitancy lasted way past physical therapy and stuck with me until about 9 months after the injury. I feel normal now but what I experienced over the healing process was just a gradual decline of fear/ hesitancy even though logically I knew that I was physically fine.
I know that part was long winded but it does have a point. I will be curious to see how Saquon recovers from this injury. He will be putting way more force and impact on that joint than I ever did in PT and need to trust his body to do things that I could never dream of. How quick can he physically get back to 100%? Will he ever make a full mental recovery especially with his run game relying so much on elusiveness and lateral movement?
Exact same injury happened to me playing soccer freshman year. Took about a month and a half to get back into playing
Prayers sent 🙏🤍✊
I had this EXACT same thing happen to me. Had my foot stepped on in a football game. Hurt like hell. I kept playing though, just like the Cowboy in this video. We are warriors!!
Tks Doc for the content.
Would a brace have stopped or at least mitigated the damage? I know that braces suck but they always made me feel better having one on than not.
That happened to me my and sophomore year I ended up with a break. Brings back horrible memories😭
I sprained my left ankle in a similar way back in the first weekend of June ‘21 and still on October 11 have swelling and some occasional discomfort. A few weeks ago I went and got some direct joint injections using stem cells and the swelling reduced by about 90% in about 24 hrs. A week later I tried to do some light jogging and it swelled right back up. I’m thinking I have some tissue damage in the ankle that hasn’t healed properly but my understanding is that there isn’t much that can be done to it anyway
Got this multiple times back in my skating days. That’s when I learned I sucked lol

Something exactly like this happened in my high school 10 years ago. I jumped really high for a rebound in basketball, landed completely on someone's ankle and I normally applied a lot of force when landing (I was young I know). Ankle swelled slightly bigger than this and man, that was the most pain I've been in my life. 4-6 months on crutches, couldn't put any weight on it, and missed half my grade 9 classes. Lost a bunch of mobility to this day on that same ankle, sucks badly
@Taymilli _ doctor told me I was very lucky I didn't tear apart the ligament in my foot, it was a severe sprain that almost needed surgical repair

I literally just did this to my right ankle doing jiujitsu two weeks ago. I was able to walk home with minor pain, but when I woke up my foot was hella swollen and I could put a shoe on or walk. I had to use crutches for like two days. Still have a little pain but I’m all good now

Had something very similar happen to my ankle while getting out of a van at work, didn't break anything, but had the swelling like that shown in the picture, it still doesn't feel right today(6 years later), but hey i dont have the best Doc's looking after me.
Why does swelling go on for months after trimalleaor fracture surgery
I had this injury before its painful 😖
I had the same sprain, same ankle, and same swelling. This happened in March, 7 months later and it’s still not 100%.
Can you do the kickboxing fight Superbon Bancheck knockout over Gioroio Petrosyan ? Petrosyan was doing the fencing response and was carted out the cage
I did something like that. Osteochondritis dissecan and a pretty rock solid third degree sprain. I needed surgery eventually. Mine was playing basketball putting back a rebound. When I came down I landed on somebody's foot. Although, it looks like he may have a fracture to his fibula.
As someone who has sprained her ankles many times, this was fascinating to watch. When you mention his ankle was flexed because it was on the other player's foot, would that be a similar position of the foot if a sprain occurs when wearing heels? I had a grade 3 sprain when I fell wearing heels. My ankle swelled as much as Saquon's and was so painful.
