    Excellent, mature, sober, practical advice. The three Glocks I'll keep and pass on when I die:
    G17L gen 3 6.02"
    G19X gen 5
    G40 gen 4 6.02"
    All stock, cleaned, lubricated with oil and moly grease. 👍👍

    I bought one today as my LGS had two of them, both with night sights. The display model had a long reset. I asked to see the one in the back and it had a reset exactly like my Gen 3 19 which I have a ton of rounds through so I chose that one. The trigger pull on the display gun and the one I bought were the same.

    Your observations are on point. Even though the same model, different Glocks have different feeling triggers for sure. The tolerances vary. Some shoot straight, some dont. Also, saying if you had to sell off all your guns and that would be the one you keep is saying a lot. Im going to try the 17FS after watching this review, thanks.

    Gen5 barrels are machined for forensic identification purposes not accuracy. The previous generations are almost impossible too forensically identify bullets because of true polygonal rifling.

    In glocks defense, the glock 19 fs package I got is a heck of a deal for the simple fact mine came with glock steel night sights. Not bragging or anything but with the front serrations, extended slide release, extendended mag release and factory glock nights sights for 500.00 bucks otd compare to the standard g19 with polymer sights, I'm sorry but if anyone looking for a g19 try to find the fs model because it's close to the same price and u get extras. I think the gen 5 should have came standard with fs and steel sights. Glock 19 hands down best all around pistol period!!!

    There’s a reason the g19 is still the most popular compact 9 on the market. You’re not really going to find a better compact 9 that beats glock out in all categories. The glock is the jack of all trades and master of nothing if you will, except maybe simplicity. I want a g19 gen5 FS 2018 summer special

      i dont see what makes the sw compact 2.0 better the glock can do anything the sw can do you aim pull trigger it goes bang if all your fundementals are on par then you hit what your shooting at and so far they both went bang everytime so i think its almost a personal preference thing the base model glock sights are junk i will give it that but the glock is also less weight to carry around i put new sites on all my guns anyway. but to really say one gun is better at being a gun is really a joke i think they are both great guns

      @@user-jd1ip7ov7f The compact is an excellent gun. However, I have experienced several FTF and FTE issues with it. I used to have a 9mm Shield and it ate everything I put in it with no issues. My Glock 19 is better that the 9c, just my opinion, because I want a gun that will go bang when I pull the trigger and not worry about a FTF or eject. The Shield is a better gun than the 9c I think, the only down side being capacity.

    I get that you can send your slide off to get milled, but it then has to be completely refinished (which voids the warranty...god forbid anything happens) which takes extra time and money...money that is far better spent on a quality rail mounted light and ammunition. There are plenty of people like me that this gun is perfect for--it comes with the metal sights and extended slide release (which are the two things that I would definitely add to a stock g19). The serrations are really just an added "cool" factor seeing as 99% of civilian glock owners will be forced to fire under duress or perform slide manipulation in adverse conditions. Added bonus: my lgs is selling the FS model for only $5 more than a regular 19g4.

    PPQ/VP9 is the only way to go these days fir the money,
    you get a glock and all models but this model has no FS not to mention the plastic sights and the trigger is out classed by these other guns I named... yes I like glock I own a 23gen4 but when u buy one right out the box that's not this model by the time you get it where u want it your at 800 bucks these pistols are 500 bucks and they come loaded and the triggers break like glass I own the ppq it's amazing.. but if u have the money to get the glock customized with slide work and sights and stippling or talons and put in a cmc trigger id choose the glock..I happen to feel it's reliability is uncanny mine is my eveyday but not everyone can afford to do that..

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  6 років тому +1

      +Airjess118 Jesse jones : I reviewed both the VP9 and the PPQ (which also has plastic sights) and disliked them both. I admittedly cut my teeth on Glocks in the mid-late 90's, but I have no issue with their funky ergonomics or triggers out of the box. I find the Glock RTF 2 grip to be much better than either the VP9 or the PPQ stippling. I don't really do anything to my Glock triggers aside from sanding the trigger safety flush and I can definitely shoot this 19FS more consistently than I could the VP9/PPQ. I agree that they have many features that the Glock doesn't have, including lighter triggers with better reset. That said, there are still a lot of us old dogs out here that don't really want to relearn everything on a new Jetsons gun, (or can't because we duty carry another brand) and that is my biggest issue with the VP9 / PPQ platform. That said, I'm glad that you found a pistol you enjoy shooting!

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  5 років тому

      There are several reputable places that do it, I've used Jagerwerks and Primary Machine and Fire 4 Effect in the past. Most places charge 25-75$ for the actual cut and then another 50-60$ for cerakote or nitride treatment. So you'd be looking at 75$- 150$ or so, plus shipping plus wait. I'd also point out that aftermarket cuts cont be exactly like the FS Glock guns because those are made without roll marks on the front from the factory. Aftermarket machinists generally either cut around them or have to mill the slide down to shave them off, which costs more money and lightens the slide, changing the timing slightly from factory specs.

    Your testimony is exactly why Glock puts the polymer sights on their guns. They know most people will change them out anyway even if they put night sights on them. So to keep the retail price down, Glock puts cheap sights on them to make the cost more enticing. It takes 10 minutes to change the sights to whatever you want.

    Buying a Glock 19, or 26, is crazy. Buy a Glock 32 or a 23, compact, OR a 27, or a 33 sub-compact!!
    Gen 3's & 4's {I'm sure} You can can go from 40 cal. To 357sig by just simply changing barrels. That's 2 guns in one. Now, you can buy a 9mm “conversion” barrel, then,2 or 3, 9mm mags{ that fit a compact or sub compact}, & you can practice with cheaper ammo{9mm} . If you plan to carry in the 9mm, simply change out the ejector,{not extractor}it's easy.Now it's a reliable 9mm. Now you have 3 guns in one!!!

    Here’s some constructive criticism: I’m an 11B with a short attention span, could you weave in some shooting with your videos? I know it’ll cost you some scratch and is a little more work from a production standpoint as it’s easier to just sit down with the pistol and yak about it but it’ll make your videos more appealing and maybe net you some more viewers.

Wish I would have bought two but didn’t want to use both my blue labels on the same pistol. +ghostrider_118 Jay: it all depends on what you are comfortable with and how you carry. I'd say Glock 19 all day long because I have no issues carrying a compact firearm. If you want something a little less intrusive the Glock 26 is a good option, that said I'd probably go gen 4 and not gen 5 Glock 26. The 26 in gen 5 has nearly zero changes except for a slightly different barrel (really won't matter as short as it is) NDLC coating on slide (more slippery) and no finger grooves (less controllability). The trigger changes are sublime and won't make a difference. The gen 4 will also be cheaper.

    • @jhelmsing
      @jhelmsing  6 років тому

    Glock's failure to innovate in any real sense, simply provides a fixed target for their competition

      Shooter Industries Glock doesn't need to innovate. It's like saying the AR, Ak, and the 1911 needs to innovate are you people serious??
      If you don't like Glock don't buy it! The cool thing about Glock is you can build the gun as you want it to be. Tons of Accessories to choose from. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

      Armed Rebellion47 huh? What makes you think the 1911 or ar15 werent subjected to innovation? Are you real?

      BD G19 im looking for a g21 and g34, too. If im such a glock hater, why do i keep buying glocks?

      BD G19 What does my ownership of several glocks have to do with my opinion that they largely lack innovation? When did i say that i owned them based on their level of innovation, or based on any other reason? I own them because they inspire confidence in me as a shooter. Their reliability gives me the warm and fuzzies. Their ease of manipulation, does as well. I love my glocks... but that doesnt change my opinion that despite gen 3 adding an accessory rail, that theyre essentially the same weapon as ones produced 30 years ago. Nothing wrong with not fixing something that isnt broken, but i stand by my original statement that their failure to innovate simply provides a fixed target for their competition.
      I see your type of thinking in politics and its irritating... because i support a certain candidate, i shouldnt be critical of them.
      Youre gonna have to try harder if you want to corner me on intellectual inconsistencies
