Gotta love the tiny clip at 28:19. "This is soo american" *Cities by Diana in response, proudly displays the flag of the Republic of Liberia, located in Western Africa* You've got to love tiny blunders like that. Also, I was thinking when you was building that retaining wall around the 10:50 mark how the layout could have made a beautiful park. You could have had a clean water outflow or two with the water channel directing towards the sea to prevent overflow, stepped retaining walls for people to sit and walk on like down on the coast, and at the bottom a nice fountain with park props and a nice relaxation area. Fantastic video. I'm loving how this city is developing and how you tackled the aftermath of the disaster last episode!
LONG FORM FTW! MIAU ! Diana thanks so much for the shout, you rock! hahaha loved when you deleted that one low residential house, it IS grotesque. You definitely did the right thing by forsaking some element of realism for making that block look nice by the quays. "When in doubt: walkable green space" - Cities by Diana. I can live by that maxim. "PARKING 🗽," maybe not hahaha. The placement of trees in that low density residential makes such a difference, possibly a top tip for noobs in getting a good looking city for sure! The video closer is perfect. It's all about the balance. Great video Diana, thank you again!
7:43 tried this, had a lot of hidden trees under buildings... A disgusting amount tbh. THANK YOU, this has made a noticeable difference in load time & game play ❤🎉
Yes! The GOAT returns! The dry spell was worth it! Adding some parks helps break that vanilla look, and I rather like that the hedges are not perfect. IRL they never plant them that well, and the mistakes stand out more. You, on the other hand, are a standout! You sound less energetic than usual, but it works for a long video, and yes, three tsunamis, we understand. 9:30 So. Many. Rocks! I prefer my cities hilly, force of habit. But for that, walls are a must, and I don't think the water cheese is too complicated. However, retaining walls are not an exotic thing! Their omission is baffling. Also, I think Transport Tycoon had a tree brush, so a C:S tree brush is overdue. Three decades overdue. Nevertheless, the mall came out very nice! 17:00 With 9 tiles you can go one down (right), to the intersection, and two up (left), around the small bay, and you wont even need a bridge. The tram doesn't look like shit, but the passengers are going to look at shit water, ouch! Overbuilding in education, and putting an schools out policy sounds like it should cost a lot of money. Shame that the base game doesn't have a beach soccer field, or a footvolley one, feels appropriate in that beach front. You really tied it together well! The grass around the school may be one of the nicest ones in the game, but I don't think I ever saw it in use before. Following the terrain is the way to go. Also cricket and Korea. A choice, for sure, but a good one. Walkable space? That is so U! The U from M.I.A.U., to be precise. America for the win! Eleven colonies, ONE state! Sandy Beach is not an stupid place! Some things stupid disasters happened, Colossal Order made some stupid choices, but you made it all beautiful. Thank you.

I am addicted to your content lol.... This longer format is very nice for me.... I can rest for 30 mins in the middle of studying and watch your vids. But make videos the way you are comfortable. And I wish you the best... Cause you are going to be big soon😉😉
This always happens when my city gets big enough to start the transition from factories to offices. I start building schools so the offices will have educated workers, but then the factories can't get enough uneducated workers and everything starts to die and I'm swamped with abandoned factories everywhere. The last time this happened, I demolished all the schools and the university and then rezoned the offices back to industry. It took a while, and all the sims got mad at me, but my city started thriving again!
Wonderful build!! It was funny, I watched your add to the ocean city and you mentioned San Jo. I wondered if u were from the bay. Then... you said in this build your from the SF!!! I live in the city! ( well orginally from Hawaii but been in the city for over 15 so it's my home now 😊!) With that said I would love to see you build out that hill without too much terra forming in honor of our hilly landscapes. And also would love to see a stadium/entrainment district in this build. Love your work!! Cheers!!
I loved this episode thank you!! I 😅 love that you do & say the things you feel , I would be even worse 😂 ! Also, So, very.. many ideas .. To ste.. borrow 😂?! I was feeling down about having to start over again . now, I'm motivated again 😁🙏🏻
I think the 'Schools Out' policy (22:30) might have caused the 'not enough educated workers' problem at 31:20. 🤔 By the way, your content is awesome! 👏😊
And for your next plans for Astoria you ship built like a like with the roller coasters and stuff and feel like I'm Times Square from New York and put in a lot more skyscrapers tall ones 2 and it's this expanded story amor all I'm saying is you should probably put in a lot more entertainment now and it's panda in for your next next episode talk about the people there I want to know more about them
this is a very similar attitude to that Cascadia Bay video, where you just did a free build. i mean, irl those were some terrible practices, but who cares? this is C:S, not irl
You said it best - this is some next level vanilla gameplay right here! Those vanilla retaining walls for the mall area are really nice!
Ty 😊 That vanilla retaining wall trick is super useful tbh lots of fun to do too
Love the longer form videos. It gives you the time to develop!
Glad you liked it, I tend to make these vanilla episodes a bit longer cause they're a little less intensive 😁

Ty 🥰 MIAU is the most GANGSTER way to build a city
7:43 tried this, had a lot of hidden trees under buildings... A disgusting amount tbh. THANK YOU, this has made a noticeable difference in load time & game play ❤🎉
Yesss 🥰
16:50 this is trippy. I play on this same map
Sandy Beach gang ⛱️🏖️
I think you can do the "industry 4.0 or 5.0" policy more than schools out. Helps the dirty industry utilize the highly educated workers
I think you're right, good tip for the next episode
ooh I didn't know erasing trees before building over them helped with performance... good tip
Yup 😁

Another great episode diana! Fixing the problems turned out amazing! ❤

Oh ty I'm glad you liked it 🥰 I think for these vanilla builds this length is doable for me, modded is a bit more intensive though
@@CitiesByDiana as I said, just do what you are comfortable doing. 😊😊

great vid, nice work with some very dificult terrain
This series is so good, great job as always! Enjoy SLC!
Ty 😊
WAITING FOR THIS ALL WEEK

Something like that will definitely come at some point haha also hi from the east bay 😎
I loved this episode thank you!!

I'm happy to help with ideas 🥰

By the way, your content is awesome! 👏😊
I think you're right 💯😊 I'll have to fix that soon
And for your next plans for Astoria you ship built like a like with the roller coasters and stuff and feel like I'm Times Square from New York and put in a lot more skyscrapers tall ones 2 and it's this expanded story amor all I'm saying is you should probably put in a lot more entertainment now and it's panda in for your next next episode talk about the people there I want to know more about them
Yesss I definitely wanna talk more about the people 😁
Retaining wall was a 100 IQ gameplay 🔥🔥📈🧠
Yes, I really liked this video.
I'm inspired to go home and fix up my current city, but I'm at work with seven hours left in my workday. Dang it.
also, there is a policy called Industry 4.0 that allows higher educated people to work in lower educated jobs
Did you in fact turn off the school's out policy?
😅 not yet I'm working on the next episode and I totally forgot I had it on
is this Chicago sim?
💀💀
