    Having performed once on stage in front of maybe 20-30 people, I somehow get the feeling that not much changes with larger venues, just the scale of everything.

    • @squidcaps4308

      It grows to about to a thousand, with "diminishing returns" so to speak. From 5 to 50 is huge, from 50 to 100 is big but not that different from 150, which is not that different from 300 and so on.. From thousand to 15k, no real change.
      To be fair i have not performed for that many people, used to be a stagehand. My ass has been seen by 1.2 million, over fifth of the country.. because there comes a moment when you are too much at home on stage and kind of forget that people are watching...

    • @_piccoloser
      @_piccoloser Рік тому +16

      @@squidcaps4308 Makes sense! The more people that are there, the more it'll require to see a noticeable difference. I actually had more stage anxiety with a small crowd than anywhere else.

    • @troystaunton254
      @troystaunton254 Рік тому +11

      Apparently the main thing that changes, is when when you get to 50,000+ the major difference is that everyone breathing in and out simultaneously as they sing is like it’s blowing a Gail. It generates its own winds. That according to the guys in the police (band). Quite possibly only true in a stadium. I have a mate who played pro rugby league and he reckons at Suncorp stadium in Brisbane during state of origin the 52,500 seat stadium that goes up not out he claims the sound becomes physical. He says it’s different when he played the grand final at Homebush (the Olympics stadium in Sydney) where 100,000 were there but because the stadium goes up and out it’s not as daunting.

    • @matarnold1371
      @matarnold1371 Рік тому +4

      @@a.g.4843 i strongly disagree. between playing for 50 people vs 500, it is a massive difference. the stagehand earlier had a great point but as a performer you don’t get necessarily get the same luxury; the audience is there to see you, and in my experience you tend to notice each and every one throughout your set-or none at all. depends on the person

    • @matarnold1371
      @matarnold1371 Рік тому +1

      the biggest difference i’ve found is the stage size. the bigger the crowd the bigger stage you have to use, and that shift adds more pressure. what i find interesting is like the stagehand said, once you get really really big it’s a diminishing return. once stage sizes are always big whether the crowd is 20 thousand or 2 million, it has less of an effect

    I use to be a professional musician (guitar) , I've been playing in a band for 15 years going on tour and all and I just want to say that it isn't always easy and as fun as it seems, the energy of a crowd is what keeps you going but it's really hard to play almost every night in a different city, always eating crap, drinking and sleeping 4-5 hours a night, after a while it gets to you , it's even harder when you have a family, I felt I needed to do something else with my life the day I realized I was doing cocaine before every gig we had.It's been 15 years since I left my band I never used drugs since and I feel so much better physically and mentally.

    As a multi instrumentalist since 15 years & guitarist since 10 years, discovering your channel was a true blessing Bernth.
    You are a real role model for any musician, since you have mastered & adapted the essential traits that you need to be an excellent musician.
    Which are: "Humility - Dedication - Sacrifice & many others.
    Even though you are insanely good at your craft, you still won't let your ego take over & you respect the music & serve the song.
    You also seem to be one of the nicest guys in the metal community.
    For some reason you always remind me of Chuck Schuldiner (Death) lol
    And above all, I love your Terminator/Schwarzene ger accent
    Don't worry, I'm from ze Wiener Schnitzel Land as well. 😅
    I merely write it in english, so that your none german speaking audience can read it as well.
    What's crazy is, that I already subconsciously saw you in the Seiler & Speer video "Weilst a Mensch bist"
    And now that I know that you've been working with those guys since 2015, my brain just had a memory flashback & a total " A - Ha" moment lmao XD
    Small world indeed...
    Ich wünsch dir alles Gute in deiner weiteren musikalischen Reise & viel Erfolg.
    Es wäre eine Ehre mit jemanden wie dir eines Tages zu jammen.
    Danke für den Motivationsschub, um noch exzessiver an meinen musikalischen Skills zu feilen.

    Your are such an inspiration! Everytime I watch your videos like this I wonder what's it's like to achieve your level. I had a heavy opiate addiction that hindered my career very early and I was even in a promising band. My addiction took me to dark dark places and eventually I had stopped playing all together for many years. I'm forty now with over 4yrs sober....so congrats to you my friend, one day at a time......and I have been playing ass off. I've gotten pretty decent considering I just started playing after like a 20 yr hiatus, but it kills me to think I could be where I r now. The dream in me never dies and honestly at times it drives me insane. Part of me wants to just forget the idea of ever even being in just a gigging or good sounding band and not just a level like yours. But the other does not. The thought of giving up something I love so much and one of the only thing I'm actually good...or so I'm told.... And tossing a dream down the tubes is just too depressing....and trust me I already suffer from a shit load of PTSD and depression lol. It was not my intention to write this next part of this comment, but I'm just going to go ahead and do it. If you could write me personally, I'll give you my email, and if you just give me any personal thoughts or insights or experiences that you've experienced getting clean, or just playing, or just experiences of your life in retrospecting comparison to mine, it would be most respected, and your words would mean so much. If not I understand you're a one busy brother and I get it. My email is fireinthesky500@gmail.com. thanks for all you do brother and here's to your continued success, cherish in California! Andy.

    Very nice life you have going on there! Very cool to see from the outside. I’ve played since I was a kid, bar bands as an adult, and now I’m old. It’s been 8years since I’ve played in public. Kinda miss it. Biggest gigs were a couple of hundred people, most were smaller. Thanks for sharing this look at your real “behind the scenes” reality. I was only smart enough to roll like this the last 3-4years of performing. Skipping the drink and drugs can be hard but I think my musicianship improved a lot because of it even as my writing suffered. It did provide some inspiration at times. It seemed to me that once you make this change you must find others with a similar ethic in order to progress and finding those people can be difficult. I respect what you are doing and really enjoy your playing. 👍

    Hats off brother I miss looking out at an ocean of people having a blast. As a man that is newly sober I can tell you man the pill of light was the scariest and hardest one I've ever swallowed. I just want to say thank you for everything you do. I've been playing guitar and writing my own music since 2002 and I, again am thankful for artists like you. Also uncle Ben. He's a great dude as well. Shred forever my friend. It is the people like you, myself, and every interesting, intelligent, and creative person that will make a mark in history. God bless keep crushing it brother
