I have a question, did you talk with me in Telegram yesterday night, and you told me that you want to send me a gift ( a brand new guitar ) only I have to pay the shipping charge, I'm little confused, only I need to confirm that it's you Bernth
@@aniruddharoy4176 me too, I really not understand
@@koolkreativeklub4462 only Bernth can answer this
@@aniruddharoy4176 I wait
Thanks for the inspiration
it's scary how good the timing of this video is. My gf stopped drinking about one and a half months now, and I'm super proud of her.
Congratulations, I wish you both all the best! :)
Best to her, Joe!
I’m proud of you, Joe, for being there for her!
@@tonylikesphysics Congrats Joe. Good for her. I'm looking forward to a ten year cake myself next August.(After many, many failed attempts to get 24 hours).
If things get hard, try to remember "It's progress, not perfection" that gets people sober.....One day a time.
Good man, Joe. She can't do it without your support. My wife is still working on this but even small steps cutting back made a massive improvement in our life together in my humble opinion. Even if its a long time coming, it's worth the ride to get there. Good luck and best of health to you both.
I’m here for the music but stayed for the life journey. This is an excellent take on the downside to alcohol. I went to a Sabaton concert on Saturday and drank a little too much. Sunday morning I realized, “well this is why I haven’t drank in years.” I just feel like I’m too old for this anymore. My body can’t take it and I have responsibilities. It’s so good to listen to your body and appreciate life through an holistic lens. No chemicals needed. Here’s to keeping healthy and clean!
Congrats brother. The book The Easy Way to Control Alcohol has been a huge help for me.
omg. huge thing happened to me when I stopped drinking ... over thirty years of hard core drinking... I became a WAY BETTER player. Thank you so much for this Bernth... spread this great word.
You are the hardest working guitarist I can think of. You make it look easy, but it’s not. Thousands and thousands of hours spent honing your skill. What’s even more impressive is your life skills. You’re a smart person and it shows in your videos.
Congrats man. I’m 22, been a recovered alcoholic for 2 years now. I started drinking every day when I was a medic in the Air Force to try to cope with the stress of my job. I didn’t realize that all I was doing was adding more problems onto my plate. Crazy how much life gets better when you stop poisoning yourself.
Hey I’m in Air Force too but I only drink every other weekend, sometimes every weekend
@@Batman96925624 Watch your intake, that’s exactly how I started. It’s a slippery slope man. The Air Force makes it incredibly easy to fall into alcoholism because you can’t really do much else to take the edge off.
I’ll hit 6 years alcohol free in 3 days. My life has improved tremendously in that time.
Kudos on going this long whether you had a problem or were just looking for more productivity. Thanks for this channel, lots of great insight for life as well as guitar. 🤘
How cool ! ... Congratulations ! ... #ODAAT
6 years - nice work! 2 years for me.
@@bearandchicken5759 that’s awesome, congrats! It’s not about how long, only thing that matters is you’re sober.
Cheers to you!
I've been sober for 9 years now. It literally changed my life. The big wake up call was the moment I couldn't work the next day because i'd been out all night drinking. Cheers Bernth! Not everyone has to give it up completely but I certainly did and I couldn't be happier.
I'm coming up on one year sobriety after over 10 years of drinking daily. In the final years I didn't touch my guitar. Now I'm actually practicing again instead of being trapped in a cycle of procrastination and confusion.
Thanks for the inspirational video!
Awesome and congrats on the year ... !
@@2mdallas 😀
I quit drinking about a year ago. At that time I was in a really bad spot and wasn't about to blame the alcohol. Long story short I ended up in the hospital in really bad shape due to my heavy drinking. I went through a lot of shit and had to do a lot of soul searching. Once i admitted to myself that all my problems was alcohol related I was then able to start taking the right steps. What a difference a year makes. I am now in a much, much better place, I am happy, content, responsible, confident, etc. I'm even playing guitar again. For me, life is SO much better without alcohol.
Awesomeness
We’re happy for you bro! Here’s to another year of strength🤙
@@vandalpaints2712 Thank you. You as well.
Thanks for being an inspiration, this really hit home. I’m glad you took the time to show your personal journey with alcohol, I can only hope it will make a positive impact for so many. 9 months sober.
Congratulations on being sober!!!
Just started learning with my granddaughter and we love your content. Still going through your vids to see what to do first.
Thanks for posting the video! I am an older (53 now, holy shit) dude who has been playing guitar since I was 13. The decision and move to pick up a guitar and learn how to play it was one of two I made during that time, which helped me break out of the trials and tribulations of adolescence, and start to feel comfortable in my skin. The second one was drinking alcohol. I stayed with both of those things throughout my life, but the drinking habit was much more consistent and grew while the guitar playing was whatever for decades, with ebbs and flows. By the time I was 40, my guitar playing hadn't improved at all since i was 20. Maybe it got little worse. But my drinking skills were pro level, lol.
Well, I quit drinking a little over two years ago, and like you, it was a great decision for me. I'm still an amateur guitar player, but my skills in that department have improved more in the past two years than any time other than the first few years when i started playing. That's just one area of my life that's improved. My health, my career, my relationships with my wife, family and friends, other hobbies, my finances. Everything has gotten better. I don't regret drinking all those years. As I said, it helped me when i was young, but i certainly got all I could out of it, at the very latest, by the time I was exiting my 20s. I wish i could have found a way to quit years earlier, but i couldn't imagine life without alcohol for so long. I commend you for figuring out how to quit earlier! I encourage others to consider it.
Before two years, I was Homeless and addicted to heroine. Now I am sober for nearly two years and on the best way ti become a music-therapist. I practice 3 hours guitar per day and it helps me to stay clean. Videos like this help me a lot to stay motivated.
Congratulations bro, stay strong in your sobriety ✌️
Dude congrats on kicking the dope.
Keep up your hard work and dedication brother.
Amazing work, your story is also an inspiration now!
The timing of this video couldn’t be more profound.
Thanks, Bernth. ❤

The clarity I've found since quitting alcohol has been invaluable! I'll never go back! Better health, better music.
Thank you for raising awareness of this topic, especially in the metal scene it is difficult to stay away from alcohol.
Since I quit 2 years ago my life also improved tremendously. I used to be lonely, uncreative, judgemental and addicted - not a fun person to be around. Now, after some hard work kicking the addiction, I do indeed like my personality, have amazing relationships with people, started playing two instruments and can take responsibility for all things in life. It's damn hard but it's unbelievably rewarding to quit.
Had a hard time passing up a “party” in the past. Became a Bartender, got Sober a long time ago. Having watched people getting wasted as I work, and hanging, I can safely say that I have never woke up the next day regretting being Sober! The older you are, the truer that is!
I admire your attitude, dedication and love of the guitar/music!
I'm 8 months sober on the 10th. I feel more useful to the people around me, most of all my family and my band. My guitar playing has improved tenfold and I'm more driven to succeed at what I want in life. Alcohol and drugs are ultimately a waste of time. It took me 10 years to realize that. I'm lucky to be as young as I am and have that realization; many don't see it until later, if at all. Stay away from drugs and alcohol, kids. Stick to your passion, and don't allow others to sway you from your path. You'll be better for it in the long run, and much sooner in that long run.
You have such a positive laid-back attitude about things in life in general, love to hear your stories of success!
Great job, man! I'm 18 months sober, and finally really focusing on getting better at guitar. Feeling the best I've felt in years.

Spent most of the last 20 yrs chasing the rock and roll life. Late night partying turned into day drinking alone and hidden drug use. An overall BAD situation. But now, Proud to say im 2 yrs sober and my playing has improved more since then than the last 15yrs. More focused. More motivated. Trying to make up for lost time. So i feel you Bernth! Cheers buddy!
Its awesome your Sober man congrats! on you're 3 years! the only thing that makes me sad about this is I am a Texan and huge Pantera fan. I wish all of the guys in Pantera had gotten sober after they broke up, and had the chance to reconcile their differences. RIP St. Vinnie and St. Dime.
I've been thinking of taking that step. I'm not a professional at all, but I noticed that slowly my passions like running and playing guitar got replaced with drinking to deal with the stress of work/life and it hasn't done anything useful at all obviously. Thank you especially for showing the books that you found helpful. I want to get back to playing guitar all hours of the day as my vice, just anything but where I am now.
Thanks for talking about your own experience of that shit. All the best, Bernth
Good for You Bernth!! It's Fantastic to see through Clear Eyes isn't it? Sounds like you have a good handle on life..Been 25 years Sober. Couldn't image ever going back to the way I was. Playing guitar since 1971.You had to really Want it,back then to Learn. LOL..What is on UA-cam for learning now is amazing. Liked and Subbed.. 👍👍
Great insights into the realities of touring. Well done on your self discipline, a good example, keep it up.
Congrats you have transformed to a better version of yourself now u dont have weakness
I just celebrated 42 years of sobriety. The first time I got on stage sober was one of the most frightening moments of my life. I have since learned, the rewards far outweigh the extra nerves I had in the beginning. I can't imagine not being sober now. (Plus, my guitars suffer far less damage than they used to ! )
The music instruments should be the real drug that fuels that fire of the soul to create masterpieces worthy of remembrance.
Congratulations on the 3 years Bernth! Another good thing about being sober is improved memory and focus. Keep up the great work, my hats off for you sir. 👏🤘🤘
My 3 years is coming up in less than 1.5 months. I'm with you, just about everything has gotten better. And easier. Keep it up man!
Congrats for 3 years man! I am a great fan of your courses. The difference is huge as I started to practice your way. Cheers from Hungary!

Thanks so much for sharing your journey in personal health and respect. It's even more impressive than your world-class musical abilities, which are clearly benefitting from your personal life commitments.
I stopped drinking in 06. one year after losing my home in katrina hurricane in Biloxi. Not only my home but it would also pretty much end my gigging years as a drummer. I lived , breathed drums. from 1980 til 05 06 which I think I was at most sitting in at local band in Ga where I had moved after storm. I never replaced the kit and gear. My gaining custody of my kids came around the same time and my son took to music big time at 10. so I got him guitars and after over a decade I finally bought a strat and started back in music. Still learning and oddly I play the most relaxing stuff which I love. However still miss metal, prog and fusion drumming. Jazz trained early in my life I would never see the pro scene due to issues with drugs and alcohol. In Biloxi around 02? I cannot remember. but I got a DUI and while I was lost in the system in jail I had my uncle who's was a major part of 3 doors down kryptonite first recording and promoting airtime , would be signed and looking for a drummer. Had I not been locked up I was definitely mentioned as a try out. I knew Brad well. Often let him keep my kit set up and share the kit as to not need to set up for second venue change. Anyway. Everyone had their shot but I shut that out over the years. eventually I stopped drinking. Mainly because I had no choice. Now I don't miss it. I hate the stuff I did while hammered.
Hey Bernth, really inspiring video, resonated with me a lot. I had my last drink in Dec 2016, decided to stay sober for 1 year, and here we are almost 6 years in. I’ve seen cases where alcohol wrecked the lives of people I’ve known or at least heard about. It’s sad that drinking is still a social norm in many cultures.
Really cool to see how much more you can do with a clear head in the morning :-). Keep rockin’ bro!
Thanks for sharing this, and thanks for the book recommendation. Also, congratulations on 3 years!
I honestly can’t say enough good things about you. As a young man, you’ve accomplished so much. You e achieved great success. Rather than let this go to your head, you’ve doubled down and worked even harder. All the while remaining grounded and down to earth.
You are constantly putting out epic lessons and guides for up and coming guitarists. Your packages on Patreon are seriously fantastic.
Beyond all of this, you are a GREAT role model for young guitarists everywhere. Globally. If more people who are in the spot light could only show this to our younger generations.
I remember watching your video when you’d said you stopped drinking. You mentioned your practice routine had improved and made a few more notes, but didn’t really make a bug deal about it.
Honestly, I think it’s a huge deal. Congratulations. Too many people let drugs and alcohol destroy what could be a brilliant career.
I can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for young guitarists around the world. Thank you.
Always inspiring tips and kind words for professionals of creativity (in many areas). Thank you Bernth, you're making the difference for a lot of people. Best wishes.
Great video! My respect, admiration, congratulations and gratitude to you!

Great video B. Love your channel and content. You're a very humble person. I appreciate that.
I am happy for you my friend.
I gave up music to live like a rock star, and after thirty years of drugs and alcohol i stopped both.
5 years i have been free of alcohol (and drugs), my guitar is happier with my new found focus, and so am i.
Thanks for this video, man
You carry a really good message!
I'm glad you've made this wise decision, you look so much better now, and I'm sure you feel better. You are a strong person, congrats🤗
I can totally relate to this. I am sober for 3 weeks now because I had to take pills after a surgery. Can't wait to drink a cold beer x) But in all honesty, I think there is a difference in drinking a beer every few days to having strong liquor or 8-10 beers every day.
Thanks for sharing! I quit drinking about one year ago. Prior to quitting, I would always seek out opportunities to have drinks, or drink at home to the point where it was interfering with my life and career. While nowhere near as glamorous as being a rock star, being a software developer is much harder when one has a mild hangover most every morning. Now that I am no longer drowning my brain in a depressant drug nearly every night, I am enjoying much improved mental clarity, focus, and my moods are improved. And I am the father to twins who are today 13 weeks old! I could not imagine trying to be a father with the drinking habit I used to have. Some people can just have a drink now and then and go about their lives. I am not that person. I am the guy who goes out to dinner and is ordering his third beer before anyone else at the table finishes their first.

Absolutely cool that you shared this. I just got a year again. I had quit for about ten years but I lost some people I loved in a terrible way and fell back into that blur of alcohol. I've tried allot of drugs but alcohol always seemed perfect for me, but it isn't. It takes me nowhere and I start drinking to deal with hangovers. I'm very happy for you know it's rough to be sober around other musicians but it's worth it.
I really so appreciate this, Bernth. I had several years sober before the pandemic from weed, alcohol and nicotine. Now I have several months sober from all of them. Sobriety is the right choice for me. It is really inspiring to see the musicians I follow emulating positive behavior. Thank you for sharing.
Quite à good décision, you and your neurons gonna live longer and better
Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. I am sure this is going to help some people out their with there internal struggles. Keep putting out the awesome content!!

keep it up I got 40 years in the playing 18 and being sober .and i associated it with playing a . long time ago myself. but of course now I'm so much more productive with it better before I used to think I need it to play better that was not true. but once you understand it it all gets better when you do more things like you said reading so so on and so on good job

Congratulations ! Keep sober and safe. Music, health and family first !!!!
I’m sober 7 years! I love playing music sober. I can barely remember most of the shows I played when I drank. Good luck!
This is very important video actually. Tour partying, and even worse like "home videos" of the bands on internet has really bad influence on musicians especially young ones.
My brother is doing sober October and I got way too gibbled last night so I said I would join him. He said “welcome, you’re not gonna be happy, but you’re not gonna be miserable”
Careful planning and moderation. Even having fun has to have its limits in order to have a well balanced self and a well balanced life. I won’t say “Don’t drink” but thinking before drinking is definitely important.

It's very strange circumstance, you uploaded this video, and simultaneously I feel so much that I should go into music, improving my skills etc, and stand on the edge of alcohol and drug abuse. Everyone in enviroment at once admire my skills and cheers me up, yet I feel I am not good enough to emerge and let my creativity go. Therefore this bring me to run into substances and feel even worse due to procrastination. I hope everyone feels like me will overtake this problem and reach every goal that you aim to
Congrats! It takes a strong mind and soul to quit something that had a hold on your life. You deserve the happiness🤘

great video keep it up!
If it consumes you, quitting is the best option. Many people can drink without having that happen though, it isn't a binary situation where you either do or don't. Moderation in almost anything is the key, but alcohol is certainly one of those drugs that can easily grip you and make you throw moderation out the window!

I stopped drinking about 4.5 years ago, and the quality of my life is light years from what it was on March 14, 2018. I went from not caring if I died to living a life that envisioned a great future. Without going into a long drawn out expose of my life and the reasons for my alcoholism, I am grateful that I experienced (and continue to experience) the "promises" of Alcoholics Anonymous. For me, it's pretty simple: live life 24 hours at a time and be thankful for every minute of those 24 hours.
I really enjoy your passion with guitar playing. I looked you up on Spotify to checkout and ad some amazing additions to playlist.
That is AWESOME! A great life choice (7 years for me!)
Solid book recommendations. I've read all but the science of addiction one. So proud of you for quitting alcohol and it's amazing how much it has benefited you. It may be pleasurable but does nothing to help us or move our lives forward. I've given it up myself :)
