  • Your first act of joining the United States military is to take the Oath of Enlistment, if you're coming in as an enlisted member, or the Oath of Office, if you're commissioning as an officer. And if you're enlisted, you'll re-affirm that oath at each re-enlistment; and if you're an officer, you'll re-affirm the oath at each promotion in rank. But the Oath of Enlistment and the Oath of Office are different - they swear to do different things. In this video, I go over the fundamental difference between the two oaths and explain why that difference is necessary to preserve the American system of democracy and way of life.

Thank you for uploading this video! I have two questions for you. For someone that does not believe in a God, they will say "I, Bob Smith, do solemnly affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States" correct? In the end, they dont need to say "So help me God." Is this correct?

Yes, you can either swear or affirm. Whoever is administering the oath usually just picks one. So if you have a preference, just let them know beforehand. They should be able to tweak the last line for you as well.

Hey there Nxet! Joining the military is a big commitment, so that's going to be a personal call for you to make for yourself. As of now, FDA-approved COVID vaccinations are mandatory for military service members. So you're going to have to weigh those options and decide what's best for you. Good luck!

Hey. I’m facing a similar dilemma. One thing you might want to look into is an ‘inactive’ vaccine (vaccine that contain a dead strand of the virus. A bit more traditional of a vaccine if that’s the concern). I think there’s about 3 types of those out there for COVID. Sinovac, Sinopharm, and Bharat Biotech I think are the only ones.

@@ashleynoelle Thanks. This is something he has wanted since back in 2014 when he graduated from College. He just had to get over the fear.
