Then I said, Here am I; send me.” Since 13 October 1775, we are the Americans who have answered the call, fully appreciating the risks and sacrifices of service, but also understanding that to help provide freedom for our fellow citizens - and for our future generations - is the noblest mission one can undertake. We swore oaths to our Constitution, which factually means to the American people and to our form of governance under law. Every individual who serves or has served with honor - and this certainly includes our families, who also make substantial sacrifices for our nation - should take quite pride in his knowledge that freedom for Americans, and those we have liberated, is founded on those sacrifices.
When I was in training. I remember one scenario that sticks with me to this day. "If you're doing a recon mission and you see your commander in the same vehicle with an enemy general. What do you do?" Said Drill Sergeant. Almost everyone: "shoot the enemy general!" DS: "NO! You shoot your commander!" Everyone: "Why DS, he's one of ours?!?" DS: "In that moment when doing recon. He shouldnt be there. In this situation hes technically a traitor and we take care of our own first. He is conspiring with the enemy. Do you understand?" Everyone: "Yes DS!"
