I personally think luxury apartments building are cheaply made and small. I find the older apartment buildings to be charming.

Until I watch this video I thought that living in downtown Chicago will be relatively safe. I never knew that people would make you a target all because they think that you have money. Wow, this was very informative.

Try to avoid public/ shared parking. If you’re paying top dollar for views, luxury finishes, amenities, spoil your car, too. Seek private parking options for residents only. A lot of homeless people or random people live in those public garages. I’m currently in a building with private parking and it’s amazing!
The worst areas (in my opinion) are River North, partial Old Town, South Loop (after Cullerton or near Roosevelt) because of the amount of congestion, partying, and crime.
A lot of people (including the STAFF) of these high rises are not always genuine - they’re looking for a check. At the end of the day, business is business. It is up to us to ensure they’re not feeding us bull crap. So ask questions, check reviews (especially most recent negative reviews). Do research on the management company, their corporate policies, and thoroughly read your lease.
I’m in PM so I’m happy to help. Wherever you all decide to live, enjoy it and get your moneys worth!! Rent is always due 😂🤞🏽

@sassyd8738 Do you have a Gym Membership? How much do you pay for that? If you’re afraid of stairs then why join a gym? The stairs daily vs elevator keeps you in shape. Coming from a New Yorker walk ups are more then common, especially daily commutes to work & exploring the many neighborhoods. We get our steps in constantly daily for free!

Sounds like these high rise "luxury" buildings are nothing more than high rise projects. You face the same problems, only you're paying through the nose for the priviledge. I'm sure living there makes some people feel like they're better than others but trust me, you're not. People are probably safer in Englewood than they are in River North right now.
