True 😅 Honestly it never felt small to me, with the layout of the unit and everything. However, when I would tell family & friends who live in suburbs about it, they thought I was crazy for paying "that much" for such a "small space". I told them it's all about my location lol. After I moved out of this unit, they renovated it again and now it's a studio I believe.
I love the tile in the bathroom. So typical of Chicago. I would definitely pay the 12 - it looks like a practical layout. Seems cozy and you’ve designed it in such a way that it appears larger than it actually is. Also the Windows and amount of sun ☀️ you get in is amazing and so vital. Love it.
You lucked out! Your place is pretty spacious and has a nice layout for that price. What website did you find it on? You should make a video of the best ways to apartment hunt in Chicago.
I found it on craigs list believe it or not. Yes, I have a whole series on apartment hunting in Chicago, check out the playlist "CHICAGO APARTMENT LIVING"
Jesus how do you manage with a kitchen like that! But 1200 isn’t bad at all . NYC ya lucky if ya can get a room at that price w/shared bathroom . Long live Chicago ! Second City !!
Lol very carefully! Since the lockdown began, it's been a bit more cramped in there with stocking up on groceries and eating every meal at home, but somehow we're still managing 😂 I've got some friends in NYC and they pay a lot more for smaller spaces so in that way I definitely feel blessed.
@@nibirue Yeah but that's in the suburbs. Only way you paying $1200 for a 2 bedroom in Chicago is on the west and south sides. You are not going to find that on the north side. I know Chicago very well.
When I stayed at an AirBnB in Lincoln Park last year, it didn't seem too much bigger than yours but managed the space relatively better. I checked out another unit for rent in the same building with the same floor plan and it was something like $1400/mo
That's probably my biggest issue with this apartment, the layout is unique but kinda wacky. It's a direct result of the changes they made about 50 years ago when they divided a larger apartment into two smaller ones. What really put it over the top for me was the immense amount of natural light and the somewhat recent renovation. 😎
Do people in Chicago call it a washroom too? I thought only us Canadians do that. I remember being in a big synagogue in New York and I asked where the washroom was and people didn't know what I meant. When I explained, they thought it was really quaint and told each other about the Canadian who calls a bathroom "the washroom."
Great space Beautiful neighborhood Amazing price point That is a lot of space Was in Miami 4 years ago 400 + square ft apt on the beach off Pennsylvania Ave $1900 So yeah would definitely live there if I could deal with those winters Thanks for sharing
You have a very nice apartment It’s not too small. The price a bit steep but that seems like that’s current pricing for apartments nowadays. I enjoyed your tour. I like that door lock. Had a lock like that I the 70s as a kid.
Do it! I moved here back in 2015 and ive been amazed ever sense. No other place like Chicago. This city will challenge you, shape you, and love you all at the same time..lol
Thanks for the tour! Reminds me of my Chicago apartments in Lakeview, Gold Coast, and Edgewater in mid to late 2000’s...maybe the enclosed doorway could become built in shelves for your shoes?
$1200 is a steal! I live in dt Toronto and I pay more for a studio but it's also in my favourite neighborhood and it's extremely well priced for where it is.
Thanks, I honestly thought it was a great deal considering. Since you live downtown in a major world city you understand those tradeoffs when choosing a place to live. I've always wanted to visit Toronto, hopefully within the next couple of years
Dope spot! Lincoln park area is decent!you got it all organized to your liking exactly how i got my studio apartment! Im Southside Chicago & pay 650 for 500 sq ft for my studio!your rent is kinda expensive but for that Lincoln park area its expected! Great tour my man!oh i peeped the sneaker game! 🔥🔥
$1200.00 PER MONTH😱 I LIVE IN A 450 SGFT APARTMENT TOO AND I PAY $575.00 A MONTH AND I USE TO PAY $475.00 FOR 3 YEARS👍 I GUESS THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHICAGO IL AND AUGUSTA GA😊
I can tell exactly where u live, just by where you were standing on the street, but I won't say where :) Love the Jugrnaut shirt with the MJ, Pip and Rodman (?). Really enjoy your videos!! p.s. just realized this is a lil old. Was this on Fullerton, near Lincoln Park West?
You’re apt is perfect! Your kitchen is sufficient, all that matters right? Queen bed? Perfect! Room for a desk with what you need…Small all you need, for now anyway! 😉👍 I have to tell you Louis, we pay just a little over that for out 4bdrm/2 bath home in Northern Ca. 😯
Great little apt, and love the light! The kitchen is bigger than those in most small apts. I like your zones, and you are very organized! I've only been to Chicago once but loved the energy!
It's a nice looking apartment, pretty roomy for five hundred square feet and the view is awesome. I believe rent is too high everywhere and it would be nice if we could find some relief from the high cost of rent in studios and small apartments but they too are pretty high these days. On a short term basics I think it's great but short term often turns into long term when it comes to renting🙂
It felt smaller during lockdown lol, I actually moved into a new place in mid-July that's much bigger. Yea I definitely felt like it was a good compromise.
1200 dollars a month seems like an affordable price to live in a large city alone. I’m not mad at it and the space works well if you’re prepared for it.
For someone relocating to Chicago and have heard the horrible stories about the shootings etc what would be consider the safe areas to look for an apartment or home at that’s also affordable?
The majority of neighborhoods in the city are safe and there are many great ones to choose from including Wicker Park, Hyde Park, Kenwood, Lakeview, Edgewater, South Loop, Pilsen, etc.
Bro this is hella important man, thank you. I’m moving to Chicago in August/September for my partner going to Grad School, we’ve been doing CRAZY research on places to live and Lincoln park is top on our list. Looks like your apartment is nice and gets the job done my man. Thank you
Great to see a creative based in Chicago, or at least in the Midwest. Many go the coasts, either to LA or to NYC.
Really appreciate it! I love my hometown and try my best to highlight interesting aspects of it!
Nice apartment.. not as small as you make it out to be.
Thanks so much!!
That's not that tiny compared to Lower Manhattan!! But cool to see how other cities roll.😎

It was so nice to see a male figure download an apartment tour. Your place didn’t seem so small but it could be that your organization skills helped.
Thank you!

Absolutely love Chicago! Great deals on apartments/homes. No city compares.
What a real bargain!!!!!! I never would have guessed $1200!!! (I’m from N. Y. )
Yea I heard Manhattan prices are sky high, my place would prolly be like $3K out there lol
There's 2 bedrooms for the same price here in Chicago.
@@nibirue OR - hear me out, you could rent 4, 3-bedroom houses in Toledo for that price lol

$1200 a month, damn i'm a bit jealous. Not gonna lie.
Yea it was a great deal, especially since it included electricity, gas, and trash service! 😎💯

I use to pay $625 a month 1br in a 3 flat. It was in the hood but it was cheap..lol
I have never met a straight man who decorated this nice. Dude great job with the apartment!

very small apartment, I would be climbing the walls during the long cold covid winter !!!
Lol it got tough during lockdown, moved into a new place in mid-July
I love your positivity ❤️
My dream is living in Lincoln Park Chicago. I'm from New Jersey, NYC area.
True, it's a great area to live
Hi Louis your apartment is not that small didn't expect a bedroom. If the area is good 1200 its not that bad life is a trade off.
It felt smaller during lockdown lol, I actually moved into a new place in mid-July that's much bigger. Yea I definitely felt like it was a good compromise.
Love it! It doesn't feel small. The alcove in your bedroom is crying out to be (white) shelving though. The dark grey shelves make it look cluttered.😁
Thanks! I moved in July, just put up a new apartment tour video! I wanted the white shelves, but they were sold out at the time 😐
The big ass lock for the door...lol 😊😛, totally get it. It's the same in NYC. 💓

Many apartments were cut up to add more units after WW2. There was a severe shortage of apartments and many buildings were modified at that time.
Ah ok, that makes sense. The more I read, the more I learn about the changes to city & suburban life after WW2
