- RADIO COMMERCIALS FROM TOP 40 STATIONS 1971 PT. 2
From time to time I’ll round up some radio commercials culled from airchecks of the Top 40 pop stations grouped by a year. Here’s Part 2 from 1971 with some of what we were listening to between the hits back then as companies vied for our attention:
-Joe Cocker’s “Mad Dogs And Englishmen” hits the big screen.
-U.S. Army-the general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles football club has just the idea for your next tourist plans-see Europe, with a hitch-in the Army.
-Coca-Cola-Carolyn Franklin, Aretha’s sister, singing for Coke.
-Levi’s Jeans-Visions of fields of poppies, a world of make believe and rainbow lights all await you once you slip on a pair of Levi’s Jeans.
-Grand Funk Railroad-Ready to hit the stage in Chicago. Tickets only $5.
-Carl Shoes-”Mary, will you take a walk with a boy named Sherman?”
-Budweiser-“When you say Bud..” well, you know the rest.
-Clairol Born Blonde-“Child of dawn, wild and free, why not be all you can be?” Burn that last bridge behind you and become a blonde.
-Arnel-Going back to the earth in my Arnel clothes, featuring the “carefree fiber.”
I was a 9-year-old kid, and had no interest in beer, I always loved that Budweiser jingle! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺More beers for ya!
YAY! Early Christmas!!! Vintage radio ads! 👍😊👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Charles, do you have any TOp 40 commercials from 1972, 73 or 74? I was glued to WDRC-FM 102.9 back then and would love to hear them again.
I'm sure I do--I'll make a point of seeing what I can put together from that timeframe before too long.
@@mytimemachine Thank you! I have one radio spot from ‘73 for Levi’s Jeans. Tell me how to get it to you.
@@swami1 Glad to receive it. My regular email is editor@colebrookchronicle.com. Perhaps send as a sound file?
@@mytimemachine I will do that shortly.
@@mytimemachine I just sent 2 files in separate WeTransfer files.
