- WILL GEER READING MARK TWAIN, “NIGHT TALK,” WOR-AM, AUG. 30, 1976
In 1976 and 1977 I regularly listened to a fine late-night radio program over WOR-AM (New York) called “Night Talk.” Hosted by radio veteran Bob Maxwell (1924-2002), it featured talking word recordings of classic stories, some read by well-known personalities. This excerpt is from a reading of Mark Twain’s (1835-1910) “The Sounding” taken from his book “Life On The Mississippi.” It is read by Will Geer (1902-1978), best known as playing “Grandpa” on the CBS-TV series “The Waltons.”
Late Will Geer, "Waltons" prime time drama series fame on CBS-TV Network died in 1978
