ABC INFORMATION RADIO NEWS, AUG. 19, 1977-DEATH OF GROUCHO MARX
American Information Radio News reporting on the death of Groucho Marx (1890-1977) at the age of 86. Dan Streeter (1943-2023) is the newscaster. Elsewhere on my channel I also have the audio of the “CBS Saturday News With Bob Schieffer” which I recorded the next day, Aug. 20, reporting on Groucho’s death. I did not, however, record this report, but thank “epaddon” for letting me share this recording on my channel. This was four years after Elvis died. He was one of the Marx Brothers and the co-host of “You Bet Your Life” with George Fetterman.

It was actually three days after Elvis died. Elvis died 8-16-77.

You mean days. It was greatly under looked because Elvis had just died. Elvis was of course the ultimate icon and was still touring heavily while Groucho Marx had been retired for several years and hardly heard from.

Dan died in early March.

Dan Streeter died at the age of 79 on March 4, 2023. He spent his final years living in Sparks, Nevada.
