This is so very sad. I can pick up 880 after dark here in Ohio, and I have always enjoyed listening to the news out of NYC on terrestrial radio. Now we are going to get more lame ESPN sports talk.
Bad move on this ! ! ! KCBS 740 San Francisco, KNX 1070 Los Angeles, 780 WBBM Chicago, 1060 KYW Philadelphia & WBZ 1030 Boston also changing over as well as all CBS AM & FM news stations across the US.
Reminds me a bit of the time 66 WNBC bit the dust in 1988 as Sports Radio WFAN moved onto the dial. Ironically, they had been on 1050 AM before that - just as ESPN Radio now is (though in this case, they're moving to 880 from 98.7 FM).
WFAN succeeded WHN on 1050. I well remember the runup to that. WHN went to that great transistor in the sky on July 1, 1987. I learned that it was going to happen a few months prior.

Certainly is! I live in West Virginia and occasionally listen to WCBS-AM online. I also listen several times a day to WBBM (online).
I’m devastated over this. 88 or now 880 has always been my go to station.
They invented the internet around 35yrs ago… you can find whatever you want without any commercials.
It hasn't been sold. The frequency will be leased to air ESPN radio.

Any updates on the future of the other agdacy all news and news talk stations across the country?
