    I haven't laughed so hard at a singular person as I did watching Jiyuna commentate over those matches while betting on you. Not only did you guys play hard and make it really exciting to watch, but there was no bad end. If you won, hey, Sajam did it! If you lost, I laugh at the funny man who bet way too much money. Love your analysis and especially for the Sol mirror, I've been playing 3S a bit recently with a friend and that foozie/spacing game is a lot of how I play Q. I think the "taking space as a reward" part of punishing is easy to forget since ideally you'd like to get damage every time you can but keeping yourself in a winning position more than your opponent is also a strong strategy as well. Especially cause my friend plays Hugo so having my back to the corner can make things more unstable than they need to be

      In what game? Big ticket games like SF get a lot of entrants so with a good draw he could do pretty well, 3-2 or 4-2 maybe. In a niche anime game he's probably toast though due to the smaller highly specialized field. GG is between those extremes.

      @@MagmaSpacer Because it's true? Most fighting games are appealing to a certain audience and generally? The majority of people have ridiculously low standards. • @MagmaSpacer
      @MagmaSpacer 3 роки тому +1

      @@Siberianhusky89 Oh hey. But you can’t just say it’s true. What even makes a fighting game generic anyways? And how is it different than older games? You never explained at all and just said they did the same thing without any examples or how it’s different from older games at all. Of course I wasn’t around or playing during older days so I have no idea what your time frame or reference is. And this is all opinion based anyways so there’s no concrete answer. The companies making the game don’t make excuses they just explain their actions. Making a game easily accessible and open for new players is more profitable anyways so why would they not do it? Clearly experimentation is seen as too risky. I mean look at a lot of Disney. Same or similar things or repeated ideas because it makes money and works.

    • @Siberianhusky89
      @Siberianhusky89 3 роки тому

      @@MagmaSpacer Because every time I explain, it gets ignored.
      1. The game focuses extremely heavily on neutral game. That is legitimately one of the most basic things a fighting game can focus on. Mixups/Oki/Experimenting in your gameplan have become minimal.
      2. People are almost always on one side of the screen. That is probably the most basic shit anyone can ever expect from a fighting game. Even Street Fighter 2 has people switching sides of the screen often enough.
      3. The mixups in this game are almost always the same shit. You can rarely try anything new in this game. In older Guilty Gears, you could mix up a whole lot of moves and mix them together for ridiculously cool options during neutral to both confuse your opponent, moving alonside your projectiles, using a combination of moves to actually get to certain areas and then going into another one.
      4. You can block ground attacks in the air. Before, you had to faultless defense/superblock to do that, meaning the opponent had to spent meter.
      5. Air teching is gone. People use to recover in the air and this helped create ridiculous mixup games. People come trap opponents or if the opponent didn't recover in the air, you could continue your combo. They come recover neutral, left, right or wait to land on the ground based on making good guesses. You could punish this too by air throwing the opponent along with making your opponent guess projectiles, jabs, anti-airs, etc...
      6. You don't have to be half as accurate when spamming jabs or 6P. I don't even know why 6P exists in this game considering the other games had ridiculous movement and HAD to be there. In this game, jumping is embarrassing..
      7. Speaking of jumping in this game, one of the absolutely weakest jumps I've seen in fighting game history. Air dashing is the equivalent of jumping forward in a Street Fighter game, regular jumping is trash as hell and has almost no reach, super jumping is almost just as bad and doesn't go THAT much higher, but just high enough to almost make some form of difference. Even then, that's saying too much. Guilty Gear use to be about movement. People would switch sides of the screen ALL the time. Now, I'm suppose to believe this game is ridiculous when you have to stay on one side of the screen 90% of the time?
      8. The game basically just hands you opportunities. A move hits to give you benefits without you thinking outside the box. It's extremely straightforward and predictable and effective bullshit that YOU don't create. The game just gives it to you.
      9. I want to give you a quick example or two: There was a match where this Anji Mito was comboing a Sol in the air in XXAC. He let the Sol tech recover after "dropping his combo", did a double jump and air threw him. He did it on purpose to create that opportunity. One time, I caught someone in the air with a projectile of mine and snuck under them and it cost 0 fucking meter. I then followed up with something to create more opportunities. There was this crossup a Potemkin did where after doing a flick, he did j.H to cross up the opponent and connected his flicked projectile. It was RIDICULOUS. Stuff like that would never ever ever happen in Strive.
      10. The mechanics in Strive that made the roman cancel "deeper" were already existing mechanics that were renamed. And some of them were braindead in the first place. Blue Roman Cancels are just Neutral Yellow Roman Cancels. Something I HEAVILY detested in Xrd because it actually simplified the neutral game SIGNIFICANTLY. Stuff like that didn't exist in XXAC+R, thank goodness. But in Xrd, it was a game change in the worst ways possible and was just a method to bribe the game to oversimplify one of the most difficult parts of a fighting game.
      11. The game is so slow, doing anything besides being pragmatic is stupid. You can't connect things in this game and even if you did, it's a waste of time because the movement in the game is ridiculous limited, along with mechanics being removed.
      12. Throws are needlessly more powerful than ever before. You can hit someone off the floor and then throw them. In Xrd and XXAC+R, they recovered into the air to ensure this wouldn't happen and you couldn't get away with something like that. While it doesn't happen in Street Fighter, the mentality of it is the most Street Fighter shit in history. I remember FAB getting thrown after that 10 times. It was a joke. That is something that would only happen in a game like Street Fighter, which is probably the most typical style of fighting games there is.
      13. People will spam the same strategies in this game and it'll work out needlessly. Had you pulled that shit off in any other Guilty Gear, expect an asswhooping. I mean, Sol Badguy will spam 5S into 5S into 5S... PATHETIC! How many times have you seen May spam totsugeki in this dumbass game? They even turned Anji Mito from an oki based character into a basic bitch character that's relatively similar to Sol or Ky when he was NOTHING like them in the first place. How many times do you see an Anji Mito hit someone, then Fuujin? That's it. He was a pretty simple character, but now he's just braindead as hell. They even bring back Leo Whitefang, one of the most dumbed down Guilty Gear characters in history. Even in Xrd, he took almost no brain cells. It was almost a meme.
      14. Guard breaks happen WAYYYYYYYYY more often than they use to. You use to have to make decisions with your characters. Now? "Durrr, got a hit! The opponent's put into a study state and I get free damage." Does that honestly sound like depth to you?
      15. Again, most of the roman cancel system is for combos. I have to spend meter to get a full air dash because of how pathetic the range is in Strive. So now, I have to use a dumbass mechanic called drift roman cancels. A mechanic that is the equivalence of why people hated full screen YRCs. It's cause people would air dash forward and roman cancel so you'd be screwed. In this game? The mechanic returns as something "different" for some stupid reason.
      16. Gatlings are gone. You can't connect moves in different ways and your limited to how you're gonna attack.
      17. When you hit someone in this game, you have to play a lot of the same offense/defense shit. the game forces you to. You hit someone out the air? They continue into the same shit because the game forces you into a state of ridiculous bullcrap where it hands you the opportunity to follow up in a throw up worthy way. You don't create an opportunity, it's given to you.
      18. The game is repetitive as fuck. Trying something new isn't even worth it. Partly because, the game has sooo many limitations and the damage off of combos are so high, why the hell would you spend on some short term gimmick?
      In Guilty gear, you could CONSTANTLY come up with new crap. Yeah, you had to play fundamentally, but eventually when the game would pick up, you'd be able to make up stuff on the spot and focus on how to manage due to experience. It was like a sweet boundary between thinking and not having to fully think. There was always something new to do. In Strive, I can spend meter and STILL come up with nothing new. Even in Training mode.
      In plenty of fighting games where within a month, people will find a new mixups, new tech, new something. In Strive, most of it has been combos and nothing. The game has been straightforward as a fighting game could possibly ever be and you're limited to only what the developers most likely expect you to be able to do. It lacks a HUGE amount of freedom and limits you to doing something most fighting games expect from you. I didn't even list everything too, but I wrote so much, I just wanted to stop. I didn't go into how some of the new moves are overlysimpified, how character's move lists were butchered, how you could actually CONTROL moves by holding down buttons and let go to allow them to activate, among other things.

    • @MagmaSpacer
      @MagmaSpacer 3 роки тому +1

      @@Siberianhusky89 I appreciate you taking the time to type that all out for me.
      I don’t agree with every single thing you said but I can understand it. As I said I haven’t played Xrd or anything so Strive just seems simple and easy to get into for a casual such as myself. It does its job but it’s not a sustaining one. Damage is too high, options are linear because why do anything different when one thing works, move lists are small, no mix up or oki because the wall, movement is limited (although Zato flight seems fun), and gatlings don’t allow for many combos or anything. But everything you said applies to Strive only. You generalized new fighting games in general. Can’t you air tech in Melty? Can’t you in DB? Isn’t there level 3 mix and reset combos in DB? And some of the things you even said in Strive had me confused. Only 4 of 17 characters have guardbreak specials in Strive and they’re all avoidable. And now mix is strike throw mostly instead of knockdown oki. That’s just a different way to do things though right?

You don’t have have to like the game. It’s not as fast paced with a huge variety of scenarios but It’s an alright game. Definitely a different take on the core mechanics of Guilty Gear. We’ll see how it ends up doing. I don’t see how it could be a dumbed down SFV though but I don’t really get that game. As it stands Strive seems fairly fun to do casually every now and then. I don’t see it as garbage nor the best thing ever. They tried to do something different and it turned out successful.
