Gio is usually one of the best characters at killing Eddie, 2K gets through the pierce gap and reaches really far, and you basically can’t frog vs her on the ground because her dash and a lot of standing buttons go under it. I started doing strings that had some bigger gaps because daze wasn’t hitting 2K on pierce so that sort of told me he hadn’t studied super hard vs zato beforehand
As someone who plays casually watching hotashi play and become a metaphorical pain train is scary. Dude resonates with Nago so well it's such a joy to see.
Sorry Hotashi nice win and all but what you didnt account for is me on twitter saying Nago is broken and takes no skill therefore youre results are completely invalidated gg shake my hand
seems like jonahan doesn't really unsummon very often, he's always spending the whole eddie bar and then is forced to play defensively. is there a reason for that?
One of the other contributing factors to Daze's loss vs Jonathan was that Daze always used delayed pressure options when doing a block string and got smoked in panic spots every time
I know Hotashi works hard for his wins, and it's not all Nago But holy crap it's really frustrating to see 30% of someone's lifebar be cleaved off by one button after a clean round
I can't imagine how people avoid fearing each engagement as if it could be their last. The volatile nature of this game even makes me even as a spectator anxious lmao. You really feel bad everytime Nago gets going.
@@AbhorrentRose You just accept it for what it is, really! And outside of tournament, there's literally no stakes, so people trying to get better should feel encouraged to make mistakes and learn from them, instead of worrying about winning.
So I'll just say, Zato is a pretty bad matchup for Nago. He has a lot of tools that can stuff Nago's ability to advance and Oppose eats up Nago's big buttons. If I remember right Tene was saying during that he personally has trouble with the Nago matchup, and like you said Hotashi was running hot. I think that's what was going on in the final set despite it being a bad matchup for Nago on paper.
There were a few moments where I thought Jonathan played a bit too aggressive when he finally had an advantage. Sometimes he would lose Eddie and instead of backing off and playing with the fact that Nago has few ways to approach at high blood even against an Eddie-less Zato, he would run in and immediately eat a counter hit and die.
The ability to just confirm any random hit into wall break from nago is just too good, it even makes Sol jealous. Also you can't really make mistakes against Nago at all, as it will cost you at least half hp or potentially a round, while he can make multiple mistakes and still somehow alive.
Only when he is low on blood meter. He's a resource character. If you get hit when he has all his resources left to spend them you pay for it. If you force him to spend while not getting hit he CAN be put into a bad spot against a character like Zato who can zone him a bit. Hotashi was just super on point against Jonathan and it never really came to that situation. Now we gotta see him vs Latif.
@@XFR18 But lets not forget how long his recovery is, and that bloodrage makes you lose all special moves, 50% of hp, and a turn, And that the only way to get out of it is a super (50%meter) with a 3 second recovery

Hotashi flat out said Nago is the reason he's in grand finals. He doesn't care about validation
Daze: I don’t know what to do against Zato.
Hotoshi: I’ve been training with monks in the Himalayas to beat Zato.
4:27 Gio Drill is barely less damage than 5[D], but builds more meter. DP is less damage than 214k, which is less damage than Drill.
