    Outside of the amazing overtone/polyphonic singing, her riffs and scats are some of the most agile I have ever heard in my life.

    Reacting to Snarky Puppy and Lalah Hathaway is a brave move by someone like You who knows jazz and that way of singing well.You knew which note was the lowest in her vocal range, how well the trumpet prepares Lalah solo, how it has yodels, polyphonic singing and you explained it all with an example,and much more.All together, it leaves the impression of knowing the singing of a top level, a complex musical genre in general,I think that because of everything so far you have shown that you are one of the best connoisseurs and analysts of singing and music in general on youtube.Congratulations and just keep going.👍😊

    Anna, I know that your reaction to this song was a while ago now, but I wanted you to know that it has made my day!
    I'm a big band horn player (tpt/flugel) and have always appreciated Snarky Puppy and their music. Your appreciation of the groove they layed down and Lalah's riffs, just knocked me out. Just subscribed to your channel, one of the best reactors om YT.
    Thank you. Phil

She's is so versatile , fearless and competent ! She is a one woman show by herself ! I'm can see again you love this genre of music with the band playing jazz and R&B music so seamlessly ! It was a fantastic performance ! You Anna as always are so very good at your analysis and breakdown of the performance ! You never disappoint and are a real joy to watch ! thanks so much for this pro reaction/analysis. why must I think of al jarreau? good to see, you´re open for several genres. snarky puppy somehow always brings dirty loops, a world class jazz-fusion trio, to my mind. keyboarder is a phenomenal singer too (MJ meets Stevie Wonder). if you do not know them, definitly worth a reaction, especially ther "work sh*t out".

    • @annavaskelainen
      @annavaskelainen  3 роки тому +2

      Always happy to see your comment. 😊 Al Jarreau definitely has similar flor to Lalah, I think he goes a BIT crazier though.. 😂 Snarky puppy and Dirty loops are quite similar style yes!

    I once heard an interview of Lalah where she mentioned that she discovered this technique when she was 14 just fooling around. If I remember well she actually explained that she scared herself when 2 notes came out.

    This is not overtone singing. Lalah's vocal chords do something extremely rare--she talks about it in a video I wish I could find the URL for, but when she does it, one chord vibrates while the other doesn't and nobody can explain why or how she's able to control it. They actually filmed it to find out what the deal was but no one knows how or why it happened.

    • @annavaskelainen
      @annavaskelainen  2 роки тому

      Like I said, I also don't think it's overtone singing.
      It would be interesting to see a video of her talking about this!

    Olisi todella mielenkiintoista ymmärtää edes jollain tasolla sitä miten metallibändien laulajat pystyvät tekemään tietyt asiat omalla äänellään. Olet sanonut, että et ole spesialisti, mutta silti ymmärrät äänestä todella paljon. Eli ehdotuksen: Lorna Shore - To The Hellfire

    • @annavaskelainen
      @annavaskelainen  3 роки тому

      Sellainen extremelaulu on kyllä jo ihan omalla tasollaan. Todella vaativaa settiä, toivon itsekin ymmärtäväni sitä joku päivä paremmin!

    Hei olisi jälleen kysymys. Kun reagoit videoihin, niin koetko itse mielekkäämmäksi kuunnella uutta musiikkia ja lennosta jaella viisauksiasi, vai onko parempi, että on tutumpaa materiaalia ja kenties saat enemmän aikaa miettiä asioita joita opettaa? Molemmat näin katsojan osalta yhtä miellyttäviä :) Kiitos tästä upeasta reaktosta.

    • @annavaskelainen
      @annavaskelainen  3 роки тому

      Sulolla on aina niin ihanan pohdiskelevaiset kysymykset! 😊
      Näin opettajana minusta olisi mukavampi rakentaa ajatuksella videot, jotta saisin varmasti sanottua kaiken minkä haluan ja jäsenneltyä sanani selkeästi. Helposti näissä sokkoreaktioissa jää asioita pois, kun ei vaan muista kaikkea. 😊 Mutta onhan näissäkin oma viehätyksensä, kun saa tosiaan sen ensireaktion nauhalle! Molemmissa puolensa, kuten sanoit.
