I'm SO glad you mentioned the way the energy of the band changes after her solo! It's always a reminder to me that one person can change the moment in music with their positive (or negative I guess) intentions.
When her backup singers came in she was imploring them to give more power ("come on! come on!"). They sort of stayed on their level so she did something no one could escape. Sput almost threw off his monitors like he heard God.
Me: she's harmonizing with herself. ALSO ME: SHE'S HARMONIZING WITH HERSELF!??!! The first time I heard it - it did not register in my mind what I was hearing...and then 1/2 second later it hit me....and I watched it a million more times...
If I never got anything out of your channel but the joy of watching your face drop to the floor when she did the split harmonic thing, I will have gotten more than I could ever deserve. Greatest UA-cam reaction moment ever!
When Snarky does their Family Dinner sessions one requirement for the guest artist is they agree to let Snarky do the arrangement for their song with probably the only artist that already had an arrangement that Snarky used was Jacob Collier, who wrote his song, Don’t You Know, on the way to the Family Dinner Vol 2 session in New Orleans, Jacob said he wrote in 7/4 and 5/4 thinking it might challenge Snarky, but he said it didn’t phase …
That section where the backup singers come in (5:30) may be the BEST head-bobbing music ever recorded! AMAZING GROOVE!! Nice reaction video, again! Can't go wrong with Snarky Puppy!

The last thing you said I hope people don’t knock the importance of. Sometimes when you do something for long enough, the enjoyment gets taken out of it. It’s just the same thing over and over again in one way or another. But some of the greatest music i’ve ever been lucky enough to find has been shown to me. “if you like that, you gotta hear this”. That’s how i found snarky actually and how i continue to find some of my favorite artists. Aww, this was a great one, Jeff - have listened to and enjoyed it so many times, and it is just outstanding and a delight!🙏🏼❤️🤗 Earlier in my life at a certain point I couldn’t afford buying a new instrument, paying for teaching lessons etc., so I figured - well, I have my voice. I wonder what that is cabable of? And I got curious and the journey began🙏🏼💜🧐☺️. Along the way I was trying out various things, perspectives, methods, approaches - also to kind of free the voice of all “normal” restrictions on how “just” to sing beautifully, but also to use the voice as an instrument for many kinds of expressions. I loved “Autumn Leaves” (and had a lot of jazz-listening through my dad during my childhood), so I stumbled across this special lady, Rachelle Ferrell💖, and WAUW!!!😍🤯🎶! I know that this is not “mainstream” and may not be for everybody, but so it is with many things in life, right🌈😉. However, I find it so exquisite and very very beautiful in its own way, and it opened up an entire new world of music, voices and ofcourse a whole lot of more listening to and diving into Mrs. Ferrells music💜🌈🎶🤗. Maybe you will give her a listen, too, at some point😊. Here a very young Rachelle Ferrell 1989 “Autumn Leaves” from her 1990 album “First Instrument” with e.g. Michel Pettruciani (piano), Stanley Clarke (bass) and Wayne Shorter (sax): ua-cam.com/video/cri3K6-dP9w/v-deo.html For later things from her the beautiful special album “Individuality (Can I Be Me?)”, where some of my favorites would be “Gaia”: ua-cam.com/video/v9Jb9UhPFYI/v-deo.html “Sista” (funky Live and love her humor, too): ua-cam.com/video/qdtwon67Uqg/v-deo.html She also has been doing some collabs with Lalah Hathaway💖💖🤗. Truely grateful🙏🏼.
Thank you so much, Jeff💙❤️🤗 Oh, and How could I forget her beautiful collaboration during the years with the great George Duke! Ohh my … only 1 of many examples here - “With Every Breath I Take” e.g., but this one gets me every single time: ua-cam.com/video/HqVrINMQRGI/v-deo.html Peace & Love 🙏🏼💜❤️🕯
I’m sorry - I was thrown off by everything happening in Ukraine right now😰💔🕯🕯🙏🏼💜. Have to think of something else just for a moment😔😌 - music, be our friend🙏🏼. Yesterday on my musical journey I enjoyed Lalah Hathaway, Donny Hathaway, Rachelle Ferrell (+with George Duke) and Jarrod Lawson (think that I have mentioned him before😊), and I thought I would refreshen😉. He is a cool cat on the piano, his voice amazing and soulful as is his own song writing, and I still think he has been going under too manys radar eventhough he has made some GREAT albums, live concerts And played at Stevie Wonders birthday celebration! Now, that can’t be right, can it?!?💖💜🤗 So - here a younger Jarrod 11 years ago baking his own amazing Stevie Wonder-cake with a twist🤯💚🌱 “I Wish” (singing/piano): ua-cam.com/video/LRGCmmE75Yg/v-deo.html and later 6 years ago his beautiful and soulful cover of Leon Russells->Donny Hathaway(cover) “A Song for You”: ua-cam.com/video/7vHs4ZRvC1I/v-deo.html and from his own albums - where to start? Maybe from “Jarrod Lawson”: “Walk In The Park” ua-cam.com/video/o4TI_lb2ivg/v-deo.html “All That Surround You”: ua-cam.com/video/cZE6uAG08Ew/v-deo.html “Music In Its Magical Way”: ua-cam.com/video/KMqmC9tnxDw/v-deo.html 🌈☮️❤️🕯 “Roger over and out from here”
I enjoy your reactions, ESPECIALLY, the way you let the music run and just throw in some comments over the top and analyse at end. Not a fan of the stop-start type reactions. Good job man.
I really appreciate you saying that because I struggled a little when I started the channel wondering if I should stop the video but I just couldn’t kill the flow like that! Thank you for making me feel I made the right decision!
I watched this video just to see the look on your face when Lalah blows everyone's collective mind. 🤣 BTW big kudos to Cory Henry for keeping his shit together and supporting her harmonically on the organ during that section while the rest of the band momentarily lost it!
I really enjoy your take on music. A suggestion: Jacob Collier - Lua (feat. MARO) [live] ; a sad love song, samba beat, and a strings arrangement that is off the charts.
Why not try an old special album from Phil Keaggy " The wind and the wheat" from 1987?!!! The track I have faller in love with is " Paradice dream". But there is lots of tracks on that album that will trigger your musical heart. I love your enthusiasme and your love for music. And I love "Dirty Loops" to. I,m a huge fan!! Definitely more to come. I’m going to work on “The Curtain” this weekend!
@@StrateleStudios can't wait for that one, thanks!!
Aww, this was a great one, Jeff - have listened to and enjoyed it so many times, and it is just outstanding and a delight!🙏🏼❤️🤗
Earlier in my life at a certain point I couldn’t afford buying a new instrument, paying for teaching lessons etc., so I figured - well, I have my voice.
Michel Pettruciani (piano), Stanley Clarke (bass) and Wayne Shorter (sax):

For later things from her the beautiful special album “Individuality (Can I Be Me?)”, where some of my favorites would be
“Gaia”:

“Sista” (funky Live and love her humor, too):

She also has been doing some collabs with Lalah Hathaway💖💖🤗.
Truely grateful🙏🏼.
Love this comment Lise! 👏👏👏🎊🎉💙 I’ll check this out! 😃😃😃
Thank you so much, Jeff💙❤️🤗
Oh, and How could I forget her beautiful collaboration during the years with the great George Duke! Ohh my … only 1 of many examples here - “With Every Breath I Take” e.g., but this one gets me every single time:

Peace & Love 🙏🏼💜❤️🕯
Now, that can’t be right, can it?!?💖💜🤗
So - here a younger Jarrod 11 years ago baking his own amazing Stevie Wonder-cake with a twist🤯💚🌱 “I Wish” (singing/piano):

and later 6 years ago his beautiful and soulful cover of Leon Russells->Donny Hathaway(cover) “A Song for You”:

and from his own albums - where to start?
Maybe from “Jarrod Lawson”:

“All That Surround You”:

“Roger over and out from here”
I enjoy your reactions, ESPECIALLY, the way you let the music run and just throw in some comments over the top and analyse at end. Not a fan of the stop-start type reactions. Good job man.
I really appreciate you saying that because I struggled a little when I started the channel wondering if I should stop the video but I just couldn’t kill the flow like that! Thank you for making me feel I made the right decision!
Now check out, Brother I’m Hungry-Snarky Puppy with NOLA international
Nuthin' but SOUL in that one!
I watched this video just to see the look on your face when Lalah blows everyone's collective mind. 🤣 BTW big kudos to Cory Henry for keeping his shit together and supporting her harmonically on the organ during that section while the rest of the band momentarily lost it!
Same way we ALLLLLLLL reacted! Love this.
Did ya see Lalah’s comment pinned up top?! 😃
@@StrateleStudios I didn’t notice that till now! Wow man congrats, that’s big time. Lalahs an absolute beast! Love the content brother!
@@jeyjey5741 😃 So glad you like it! Glad you’re here my friend!
Please check out information about her Dad Donny Hathaway who's voice is also amazing
Yes! He is a legend!!!
Ive seen her do it with her own band. She closes with it :)
🤤🤤🤤
snarky puppy feat jayna brown, the next one!!
Added to my list!
I really enjoy your take on music. A suggestion: Jacob Collier - Lua (feat. MARO) [live] ; a sad love song, samba beat, and a strings arrangement that is off the charts.
Ooooooo that sounds nice! 👏
@@StrateleStudios +1 on this that song is phenomenal emotional rollercoaster
7:06 LMAO literally my reaction watching this for the first time

You should check out Yebba's recent tiny desk concert, i think you would dig it
When she was on fire, your expression was so serious lol
Donny’s daughter can sing! Yes she is know for singing 2 notes. That’s one of her songs, it is a cover.
Amazing!!!
Sorry rewind is needed… your face brother! 😂❤️ that’s a vocal chord face!
Dude, I thought I entered another dimension 🤣
she gets that from her father donnie hathaway, amazing vocals
It’s in the genes!
Big smile and a hug from me! 😊
Oh wow, I haven't listen to Phil Keaggy in years. Nice to have a reminder...I gotta go back in time and enjoy some! Big hugs back!
Janis Joplin did it in the upper ranges too- unintentionally. Listen to her “ Cry Baby”.
