    Guys this is autopilot, not full self driving. Autopilot is not designed for this.

      It is not! That's why I'm making these benchmarks and stress tests so that I can compare later when FSD comes out in Europe, you see?

    Autopilot is an advanced cruise control primarily used for highways and properly marked roads. FSD is more appropriate for the roads being taken in this video so I wouldn’t put much weight on this as a test of Tesla autonomy. Cant wait to see how FSD would do in the same scenario.

    Well this is Autopilot not FSD. The FSD in my car won't drive in the middle of a two way road and handles oncoming traffic stress-free. However (holy crap!) in your case I wouldn't even risk using Autopilot on non-highway roads. In fact you are absolutely crazy using Autopilot on roads with oncoming traffic. You are DEFINITELY going to get hurt. Good lord DON'T DO IT ANYMORE PLEASE!! If you really want to scare seasoned FSD drivers instead of putting them behind the wheel in a tough situation..instead strap them in front of a monitor watching people using Autopilot on local roads. The absolute dread, fright, sweating, and wincing ensues immediately at the thought of impending doom EASILY happening.

      I can feel the FSD driver PTSD coming through in your comment! You're not wrong-Autopilot isn’t designed for local roads, and it’s definitely not meant to replace a human driver there. Don't worry, because we're fully hands-on when testing these situations, like a stressed-out driving instructor! 😅 I’d love to hear what crazy situations your FSD has handled-ever had an 'oh crap' moment that made you want to grab the wheel? 😬

    You do realize Autopilot is not FSD...? It's just lane centering and adaptive cruise control without route planning capability. What you are doing in the video is not the intended use-case for Autopilot.

    Wow you really needed to put a disclaimer at the start of this video to tell everyone this is not the intended use-case of auto pilot. These roads are awful for it to be used on. I'd honestly suggest removing the video while it's got relatively low views and reuploading.

    • @robotinreallife
      @robotinreallife  10 днів тому

      Thanks for the feedback! I try to make this very clear in every video I put out, but you are right that a simple disclaimer in the beginning would be even better. I will try to implement that next time.

    Great video showing the limits of basic Autopilot on EU roads. To be honest though, the merging on the highway part was obviously going to be a fail since you are using the basic version. I'm a european too, and my car can merge correctly using Navigate on Autopilot.

      Great points! Thanks for the comment. You are absolutely right that Navigate on Autopilot would have done a better job.

    With out lane markers I found auto steering will not work. Other than that, most impressive.

    I hate when it doesnt increase speed when the limit increases.

    • @robotinreallife
      @robotinreallife  6 днів тому

      Absolutely. It would be such an upgrade if it could only read the signs and react properly! I guess we will have to wait for FSD to get that though. 🤔 Hopefully not much longer!

    Nice Video again! Still love it since the first day. Firstly i thought a Wider Camera Angle would be nicer but tbh i think like it was before it was best, because now we cant really see ahead. And since FSD isnt here we dont really need a Side View or to see the Mirrors etc. It also made seeing the Screen harder, in my opinion.

      Better yet, you can use the much more capable FSD in California! Check out the differences between Autopilot and FSD in my very first video: ua-cam.com/video/xmGJ9p1et08/v-deo.html

    From the USA: My problem with Tesla is that Americans are such horrible drivers, one has no idea of who is programming these vehicles--and having lived in Berlin for three years, European rules of the road are just different enough (priority roads, different center line markings, etc.) that the American programmers are clueless. Even in the States, I wouldn't trust a "self-driving car"; in Europe, particularly Germany at 130+ km/h--no way!!

    • @someuser7501
      @someuser7501 12 днів тому +1

      It won't be a problem with FSD because the AI (not programmers) will write the driving code based on viewing millions of hours of video footage taken over the years from the cameras of Teslas driving European (not American) roads. Even though FSD is not enabled in Europe the cameras are on and the AI chip (installed in all cars since 2019) is "shadowing" what the drivers are doing. If the user handles a situation differently than how the AI predicted the AI saves the "change" and uploads it to a server for processing as a potential "solution" if it ever sees the scenario again. This system starts out saving lots of footage and then gradually gets smaller and smaller and smaller as its prediction of what the user will do gets better and better. Driving rules can be written and flushed out much better with a million cars submitting videos of real-life scenarios than having programmers dream up potential scenarios.
