@@northsource7215 Agreed. Most of these misconceptions don't come from "the media", they come from a far right echo chamber that repeats a lot of false info about EVs (and climate change), though I have heard some of it repeated in the main stream media as well.
Thing is, Teslas don't need to be sold or advertised in a conventional sense. Tesla can't keep up with the demand as it is. There is a hold on ordering right now because they can't build them fast enough.
This video will sell a ton of Teslas. I'm 75 and have never been a "car guy". A friend let me drive his and I was sold. I almost immediately spent 10 minutes online and order a Model 3. I've been driving it for 3 years and "IT NEVER GETS OLD"
Sorry, but there are lots of videos like this and have been for many years. Plus many car guys online including large media figures touting teslas. I guess you have been living under a rock.
This video brought a virtual tear to my eye. Everyone has probably heard some misinformation on a Tesla, but the way you let him finish his comment before gently countering was very commendable, and exactly how it should be done...
Greetz from germany, i have an Ev aswell but there are still problems with non tesla Evs. The charging infrastructure can be thin in sone places, or the charging ports are broken or dont work. You have to wait until its charged up enough, and the heater takes a good chunk out of your driving range if its cold. But still love my Ev , but an e motorcycle nahhhhh...
"I have to admit that while I'm not necessarily an EV guy I am a Tesla guy" Yup. That describes me. I'm not doing it to save the planet or anything else. I just think they are the coolest cars I've ever driven
True, I could give three flocks about the climate change narrative. This is the best car I’ve ever had and I hope I never have to go back to an ICE car. I don’t even look at cars I used to salivate over, like ferraris, porsches, aston martens.
It’s really refreshing to see two gentlemen with opposing views that can still debate in a civilised manner . You need our young men Growing up this way thanks guys for the video thoroughly enjoyed it
This is the best way to promote anything, one on one personal Experience advertisement. It brings out contributions from others wanting to share their experience. This is a great use of social media on the Internet …
I just got back from a 4,000 Km trip in my brand new Model 3 Long Range from Melbourne to Brisbane Queensland, and the car was perfect. I was easily able to drive 8 hours per day because Full Self Driving takes all the work out of it. We found that the charger stops took about as long as it took to visit the loo, grab a pie and chips with a coffee, every 3 hours thanks to the long range having 580Km range. We used 'Better Route Planner' to plan the basic route, pass it to the Tesla through Sharing, so easy.
He's a guy just like a lot like of us and once I got into a Tesla, my perception changed completely because the information stream I had been given was based on lies. And made me understand that my news sources were polluted. And then I got angry because we should have had this technology decades ago, but Big Oil...
One of the most admirable qualities of a human being is the one where they can be open-minded enough to look at the other side and actually admit when they were wrong. You have a good friend there.
Being wrong isn't bad, what are the odds someone is right about everything? The only way to be right more often is to be willing to change your mind with new information.
@@graysonsmith7031 Being wrong should ideally be a great thing. You get to learn something new and improve your knowledge of the world. Shame its almost always seen the other way around, and people react to it accordingly.
@@graysonsmith7031 which is exactly their point---no one is truly right about everything, and being willing to change your mind and having that open-minded characteristic is very admirable in a world where the media pushes on "you're right, no matter what".
Mad respect to both of you: your willingness to take the time to level with someone who has a different worldview, and Jeff's humility and courage to admit that he was wrong about EVs. Inspiring all around.
Willingness to change? Get a grip. It’s an advertisement. They didn’t even mention it added an extra hour to their trip to recharge on the way there. Another hour added for charging on the way home. Not to mention the high cost to charge at one of those charging stations. But, I would like to be able to afford a Tesla.
This is why TESLA has no advertising department or commercials. Tesla owners will do most of the work spreading the good news to people who are brainwashed by the FUD of MSM. People don’t know that Teslas are not the same as all other EVs. We don’t have to strain to find chargers during our trips.
But imagine if they did have a marketing/PR department. All this misinformation could be eliminated. Not sure if it is worth the money but it seems like it would be worth something.
The product sells itself… advertising or PR money spent would be a waste. Tesla is already overloaded with orders they can barely keep up with. I think Elon wants the slow creep, but then again he keeps building new factories everywhere.
Yah, but I think there are some creative things Tesla could do, outside of Elon's wheelhouse that would grow it's sales quite a bit and would more than pay for a good advertising department.
After owning a Tesla for 4 years and clocking over 180,000km I love it and will never go back, the misinformation can be dismissed in minutes, you just have too be willing to hear someone and learn from them.
Both you guys are awesome. One for not pushing hard to change others' opinion, the other guy for being open minded enough to accept and change his opinion. I think you guys should make a long trip together in the Tesla, so that he gets to experience that and realize that they are awesome for not just city use.
I appreciate Jeff being open-minded and accepting that some of his information might not have been accurate. He genuinely seems like a great guy. Great video!
The best way to handle a hater us to let them drive it for 30 minutes. Let them go where they want and do what they want. Keep your mouth shut and let them ask questions. They will! Answer their questions without volunteering any more. It has worked every time for me.
I really respect your friend for changing his mind when he had the information. And not continuing to find things he did not appreciate that’s a real man👏👏👏👏 😀
Love this man's degree of conviction.. it's too bad he was convinced of the exact wrong things. The things that he was sure he thought he knew were entirely wrong. I wonder if you'll ever pose him the question of if he was so wrong about electric vehicles, does he think that he could be just as wrong about climate change. 🤷♂️
@@jeffpicken5057 The products are *so good* that is exactly why Tesla does not have to advertise. The more Teslas Tesla sells. The more Teslas Tesla sells. It literally is known a the "Tesla effect" - New owners are so impressed they encourage all of their friends and family to try it. That in turn creates more new owners who do the same, and so on...
I was basically this guy. Rented a M3, test drove a MY, then rented a MY. Then bought a MY 13 months ago. It took a while, but here I am. A northern Minnesota, EV convert, that will never buy an ICE vehicle again.
I bought a 2018 Tesla Model 3 performance back on 11-29-2018. Drove it almost 95,000 miles to date with minimal maintenance. (Tires) Unbelievable vehicle. Love it more now than the day I bought it.
13 out of over 140,000 Chevy Bolts made caught fire. Replacing every one of those batteries was a big task--which is still going on. The instruction to park the Bolts away from your house was an interim instruction. Chevy later came up with a software fix so that those Bolts waiting to have their batteries replaced, could be parked in garages etc. again. Chevy replaced my 2019 Bolt's battery about 6 months ago and it has a longer range, (Now 259 miles.), and a brand new 8 year/100,000 warranty. I recommend the Bolt.
Butts in seats does it nearly every time. Big kudos to Jeff for being open to learning and experiencing a Tesla. Reality is so much different than what most people think.
Props for a perfectly handled debate in the begining. Not overbearing, not making the other side feel dumb. Listening to all he had to say. And respectfully stating your position.
Great job! Unfortunately, there will still be those who will see this and call it “fake news” and “set-up”. They will still refuse to give EVs any credit, refuse to try them, and continue to be ignorant. I’ve been a EV/Tesla owner for almost a decade and my observation is that those who think they know everything about EVs and/ or Elon Musk, yet still somehow strongly despise them, actually don’t know any facts. Until they meet an EV owner like you and me. Only thing we can do is let them be lost if they don’t want to be found.
We’re actually lucky to have all these “later adopters” since it will take a decade or more for Tesla to ramp up to its steady-state demand/capacity. Somebody will have to buy old used ICE cars or quick-and-dirty legacy EV designs in the meantime. And then later when they buy a Tesla will be amazed at how much they’ve improved. LOL
Agreed, sadly...but their loss...drive a more expensive car to fill up, more expensive car to maintain, slower car with less tech, less safe car, less convenient car - sounds like nothing but losing for the haters
I've never understood how someone can have a negative opinion on something when your whole knowledge is based on media, when you get first hand experience on a product then you can a form a honest opinion. Good video.
I like your approach to have the car do the talking. I live in farm country Northern Minnesota and I hear all the negatives all the time. It won't run in -20 degrees and no where to charge it. When I tell them that Teslas were the #1 and #2 best selling cars in Norway last year, they just don't comprehend. It will take hands on the wheel experience. You might have gone a little barbarian on your friend. Gotta live up to the name. Skol!
''My good friend... a tesla hater'' - That in itself is amazing, that their friendship is so strong that they agree to disagree. True friendship is stronger than opinions, politics and beliefs.
Never underestimate the effort it takes to educate those who just don’t know what they don’t know. Kudos to this guy for finally coming around. But also never underestimate the power money has to spread misinformation and to keep people ignorant. And never underestimate the number and the caliber of people who will buy into that misinformation too.
Misinformation is a dangerous weapon indeed, when employed en masse it becomes propaganda. Remaining cognizant of information sources has never been more important.
Great video guys. Love how some of the false info people are given are addressed in such a practical way. Just goes to show that when you actually drive a Tesla and know facts - its literally a no brainer.
5 years ago myself and two of my brothers went to an EV event where we could drive different EVs (Tesla wasn't present). After a couple of hours we all agreed the cars were all good. Two of us bought EVs already and the last hold out will definitely buy an EV when he's ready. Excellent video - let the car do all the talking.
As a Tesla M3P LR new driver. From Southern California. This was really refreshing to enjoy watching seeing two friends having a great conversation and being respectful of one another opinion. This is a great video for everyone who’s thinking getting a Tesla. Highly recommended. Former Prius driver here.
Great video. I appreciate his honesty. I'm an EV owner and I can say EVs aren't for everyone or perfect, but I'm glad they are an option. You may have poked too much fun at him with this one. I'm sure he'll forgive you this time.
Love that this is in NC! I love showing family members the trip from my town to Orlando and they're always amazed that the charging isn't as bad as they thought it would. There would be some that would see the total charge time and be like, "that adds another hour to our drive." But I tell them, "yes, but think about all the stops on your trip for bathroom and food and gas. It equals out." And they get it then.
LOL. I took a trip in my model S to Colorado and while there let a friend drive it. His grin was hilarious. He said it has been a long time since a car made him smile like that.
Awesome video TB! I’d been wanting a Tesla since the Model S came out years ago but it was well out of my price range so I waited. The Model Y came out about the time I was looking to sell our Acura MDX and I scheduled a test drive in KC. That’s all it takes. I ordered a Y that weekend and picked it up 8 weeks later and it’s been the best automobile I’ve ever had and it’s not even close. We picked it up a year ago tomorrow and it’s got a little over 16,000 miles on it and have taken it on multiple road trips. The Supercharger network makes it so easy. Never had range anxiety. And as far as car fires go, ICE and hybrid cars are about 11 times more likely to catch fire than an all electric car. I charge at home primarily and it’s added about $20/ month to my electric bill. Found your channel recently and I’m digging your content! Keep it up!
Ice vehicles says it all. INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES. Those vehicles have a way higher rate of catching fire it's literally in their name. Internal combustion engines. They have firewalls to give an example. I can't remember numbers but the chance of an ICE vehicle catching on fire is way hire than an electric.
" I scheduled a test drive in KC. That’s all it takes." Yeah, I warn people, don't do a test drive unless you have already confirmed you have the budget for it. Caus you will buy one.
the ship mentioned, after examination, caught fire due to a petrol car! it surprised me too! that happened to a used car tansporter on way to egypt off dutch coast.
Great video. It's easy for us Tesla fans to appreciate the car but for those exposed to all the FUD it's quite a different matter.Looks like you got very near to converting this person from a Tesla hater to a Tesla customer.Keep up the good work.
I guess I’m a hybrid. A 65 yr old Car guy loving anything from mini bikes to Juggernaut Road Trains, but I’m really glad that the Tesla Car company has come along to do Electric for the average to Wealthy really well. For the last decade they have been formulating a replacement in the way Henry Ford created the first car for the masses. While they are not in my budget, I’m so pleased to see them ramping up to meet sales across the globe. I’m in inland Western Australia and would love to see more supercharger stations along the great Eastern Highway, up the Northern highway into the Kimberly region and even on the route up from where I live to Yulara and Alice Springs … it would open the heart of Aus to the intrepid Tesla tourist … I’d love to be renting Cybertrucks here for the Ultimate Goldfields outback tour …
I drive a Model X and my wife drives a Model 3. I use a wall charger that has the capacity to go up to 80 amps, but we have it on a 20 amp circuit, and code allows you to only use 80% of a circuit, so it draws just 16 amps and 220 volts. My wife charges her Model 3 exclusively on a regular 110 volt wall outlet, and has done so for more than three years.
Hi Jeff, a small note to "driving on highways": An employe of our local power distributor was on vacation a few days with his Model 3 Longrange. At a saturday his car was needed for an e-mobility day as leading car for one side of a safty training course, where people can test drive a bunch of cars. He started early with the 600km trip and was at the place at 9am. Halve charged over the complete day the car was driven by the trainers at the course, hard acceleration, hard breaking, showing the others behind the driving course. I was surprised about his charging history for the trip, he wasn't slow, 2 charge stops for about 15minutes. After that trip all day without charging as the leading car and at the end, it was still above 40%. To get an SUV, just look for the Model Y, it will surprise you. As I was sitting in a Y for the first time, I was shocked how much space there is. I already know older Model S, Model 3 and other brands like Hyundai (Ioniq 5 you should also take a look to!), Kia, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes and some smaller ones. I checked all electric cars I could get and sit in and a few I could test drive. The most best cars I found, which meet my requirements were the Model Y and the Ioniq 5. I think, you will be happy with one of these :) I also have to say, much respect for your words. It's not all day that someone clearly say, that he was wrong. I have some colegues which tell me nearly every day the same things, like you did at the beginning. I also get questions about wintertime with electric cars. I'm driving an ICE car (Renault Clio, 11/2018) and en electric car (Renault Zoe 1st phase, 06/2013). Surprisingly I had less trouble with the electric car at -25°C than with the ICE. My electric car has a heatpump inside, well, a less good one than Tesla has, but it was warm inside the cabin more fast than in the ICE. I was stuck in traffic jam with this electric car at this -25°C, and got some irritaded views from other drivers. That was very funny :) Some facts: the Zoe has 22kWh battery which is ~120km range for me. I'm driving 80km each day and was never forced to charge underway, starting at 100% and I get back at 40-46% each day in summer or at ~20-30% in Winter. With that old car, this is great. Missleading Media is a huge problem, so I'm very happy that you took the test drive and debunked some points :) Greetings and all time good travel from germany.
Wow..the best EV program i have seen in a while....i take my hat off to your friend for such an honest and open attitude...it also shows how much misinformation we all are exposed to on so many fronts and areas.
12:38 i just got back from a round trip from North Georgia to Boca Chica. About 2500 miles total. Took me 20 hours 24 minutes there, and 19 hours 58 minutes back. 7 charging stops. Could have done 5 if I were willing to charge the car past 80 percent. In my mazda 3 turbo, the sane trip took about 18.5 hours, with 4 fuel stops. But I arrived much more rested, and only about 2 hours additional time. Full self driving virtually the whole trip with exceptions for preferences, not safety.
FSD is a game changer for road trips! I can’t believe Cali gave Merc the regulatory approval for their self driving, but if you watch them side by side… in a 30 min ride the Merc had to be overtaken by the driver over 30 times and the Tesla was 0. Tesla deserves the regulatory approval especially if Mercedes already has it.
Another thing we often hear is that the car is so very expensive. They’re remembering the Model S when it first came out. It seemed out of reach for the average person. People don’t know that the Model 3, even the long range, is pretty average in price. Our LRM3 was similar in price to the Toyota Camry we bought before the pandemic. What do people spend on those giant pick-ups? Great video.
I have been driving EVs since 2015 and there is no way I will every go back to an ice vehicle. This guy's reaction was great and you did not even introduce this man to half the things I absolutely love about my Tesla. The main reason there are so many Tesla haters out there is mainly because they have never even ridden in one, let alone drove one or enjoyed the benefits of owning one. I get a similar reaction to everybody who rides in my car. One guy had just gotten a Porsche Panamera and after we accelerated onto the onramp he literally was on his phone researching Teslas and asking me so many questions.
The first time I accelerated hard in a M3, to overtake a slow-moving lumber truck, I almost hit the dang truck because the car literally jumped forward faster than I could change lanes. That was my first Tesla eye-opening experience. My 2nd Tesla eye-opening experience involved a MS Plaid but legal council would prefer that I provide no further details regarding THAT experience. LOL
@@roboticvenom1935 I'm not even sure. It was a while back now and his car is a couple years old. They might not even make his exact configuration anymore. (Knowing the owner, I suspect it is NOT the performance model.) My biggest mistake was being WAY too close to the semi truck when I punched it. I was accustomed to driving a Nissan Altima which has a throttle delay long enough to read a small book. That's when I learned that "instant" torque does not mean "mostly instant" torque. It means now. It means right freaking now.
"There are none so blind as those that WILL NOT see" An old adage that is as true today, as it ever was. However this guy went in to with mind and eyes open. He may be a rare animal and should be preserved.
Awesome video! Love 15 wows :) Great that you demo'd voice control and navigation... that's really what helps convince people re roadtrips. Next step after that @16:08 as you talk about superchargers everywhere... click the charger icon on map, show all the red dots, zoom out a bit to most of the state.. "wow, ok, that's a lot!".... then, zoom out bit more to ENTIRE COUNTRY, .. and their eyes go big and go OH. Ok. Yeah, we're covered :) Then, show them the price for last "fillup" you did at supercharger.. under $20?! Love that you talked about the app gas v charge cost savings. @20:48 truck/SUV guy... tell him the Rivian R1T pickup does 0-60 under 3seconds, beats a Lambo :) or the F150 can power his house... Butts in seats, man, butts in seats. Just need to build a lot more seats :)
My uncle-in-law came to my house with a Tesla Model 3 standard range it was a rental so we did not have full functionality but it was still really cool and stupid fast I was thinking that 5 or 4 seconds 0-60 was pretty slow but it feels much different! Charging is much cheaper than gasoline and we don't really need the charge it during the night because it already has enough charge to get too many superchargers in many other places when we're done with it and when we do charge it at superchargers but we only need to stop once or twice and it feels very comfortable my uncle-in-law complained about the lack of break responsiveness but I found a setting that would fix that for him but he refused because he already got used to it, and the times we do plug it into the house it is so convenient since we could just plug it into a normal outdoor sockets and that will get you enough range where I live to go basically wherever you need and back twice, even though it's a rental and we don't have full functionality like the smartphone app it's not an option but it is still the best freaking car I have ever experienced even if I'm too young to drive it being a passenger is just so good though! I would also play chess on the screen when we were in parking lots when the car was not in use when I was still inside.
This is the most credible American video i have ever seen. How much scope is there to do similar across topics and jurisdictions. Thank you both for being honest.
Man, happy to find your channel. It was an instance subscribe. The way you opened up his mind and crushed his misconceptions is how a mate talks to a mate. awesome stuff.
It takes a real integrity and strength to admit when you’re wrong. I disagree with this guy on some stuff but I respect him and I feel like I could have a conversation with him even given our differences.
I wasn't expecting the dude to convert to EV on video at all but my favorite sentence and one that pretty much sums it up was " I definitely have a much more informed opinion, now" - That's all I expect from a conversation with an educated adult.
Every Tesla owner can convert at least one person like this. I've done this scenario with a few people and every one of them come away with a changed viewpoint. Best car ever.
it is harsh to say he was wrong , when there is so much disinformation out there. I heard a great quote the other day. There are 3 kinds of people in the world. 1. Those that can see 2. Those that can see once they have been shown 3. And those that refuse to see.
True, he deserves the truth. The only problem would be if he was also spreading disinformation as fact (I doubt it, he seems like an awesome, level headed, genuine guy), but that's how they go so far and wide, those being disinformed help the spread. It's clearly from the oil industry and fossil fuel party that we get all of this disinformation.
Man just love the video!!! Guess that the hater became a fan with just a test drive! It took me only a 15 minute test drive to fell in love with my Model Y Performance...
02:50 in fairness to GM, it must be said that they did eventually recall the faulty Chevy Bolts; AFTER issuing the notice to park far away from structures and vehicles: "GM had previously asked owners to park Bolt vehicles outdoors, away from structures, and to not charge them overnight. GM also urged owners to not leave Bolt EVs charging unattended, even if using a charging station in a parking deck. Bloomberg News reported the recommendation earlier. GM in August widened its Bolt recall to more than 140,000 vehicles to replace battery modules, at a cost now estimated at $1.8 billion after reports of 10 fires. The automaker said it would seek reimbursement from GM battery supplier LG" (Reuters).
Even more fair, Porsche fire count is much, much worse. And all LG chem designed powertrains seem to suffer from this defect at some level, including the e-Niro and Kona electric and who knows else.
According to 2020 NTSB vehicle fire data there were about 173,000 gasoline cars and only 52 electric car fires. Stated in a more dramatic fashion there are about 474 gasoline car fires per day and .14 electric!! You've got to look at a week to see your first electric car fire. Based on units sold, that's 1,530 gasoline cars per 100,000 and 25 electric per 100,000 caught fire. It should also be noted that despite selling more EVs than any other manufacturer, Tesla represents only a small percentage (4-5/yr) of the EV fires, yet they make the biggest news.
I appreciate your honesty and how you objectively judged and recognized how wrong the information is out there.. I have so many rides to friends and they all changes their minds and some already bought teslas..
I rented a tesla 3 from hertz for a trip to south ga. Cost $120 a day. Worth $500 a day. Greatest driving experience of my life. It cost me around $12in charge fees to go over 300 miles. Easy to find charge stations. All I can say is go rent one from hertz for a day and have some real driving fun but beware, you might just find yourself getting a second job so you can buy one.
Something you might add at a later time in your conversation with a newbie is about the car being programmable of when to charge at night and for how long, as far as plugging in 80% or 90% into the computer and the car shuts off at that point as far as charging instead of you having to come out and unplug the car. And the preheating and pre cooling at predetermined times so that when you walk out of your house and get in your car it is perfectly comfortable 👍🏻
Did a 5,200 mile road trip in my Model 3 Performance last month and it was the best road trip I’ve done yet (and I’ve driven well over a million miles over the years) - the Tesla supercharger network is amazing. I did have the ccs adapter but the first EA stop I was going to try out was completely in-op, so I decided to stick with the Tesla ones for the remainder of the trip.
Butts in seats sells Teslas! Great video I really enjoyed. I have a few co workers who had the similar opinions at first, now they are Tesla investors.
We took our Tesla Model 3 long range way out to the country to visit relatives and expected a lot of negative comments but they loved the idea. One thing I had not though of is their nearest gas station is many miles from the farm. So they burn up some of what they bought just getting there and back. They have plenty of electricity on the farm and if they had electric vehicles it would save a lot of money. Then we let them drive it. They could not believe the acceleration. Our Tesla was basically a carnival ride for the adults and children just running up and down the road in front of the farm.
I think this is like one of the slowest Tesla vehicles ever produced. That WOW counter would explode if this first drive was in a Performance Model 3 or a Plaid S/X.
The thing is, it’s a Tesla and the Wow factor is just a standard feature … who cares where it is in the range, most days it’s just a car. If it passes cars quickly and safely that speaks volumes …
Next you gotta take him in a FSD car - so many people I take for drives with FSD 12 have no clue how sophisticated a Tesla is in handling city driving. They assume it just tracks a lane and spacing from the lead car. When they start seeing it navigate, plan, signal, lane change, cross intersections, respond to signal lights and signage, they are stunned. That could be 10 wows from Jeff on its own.
thank you, and to Jeff as well, your approach is lots better than mine, I'm always trying 2 hit em over the head w.facts, does not always work, because they have these preconceived biases and w/out lifting a finger u educated this man in the best way possible ...great vid....peace
I’ve saved this video and will share it with family and friends. Covering what the 2 of you just covered takes the burden off of me (I find doing it myself far too exhausting). I don’t own an EV, but that’s only because I’m impatiently waiting for my CT reservation to work it’s way to the top of the queue. I’m not getting any younger, but my wife and I are ready to retire our faithful Jeep and spend some serious time crisscrossing this great nation in the CT. I only wish you had FSD 12 in your car - I bet you would have gotten a few more WOWS! I have a good appreciation of your friend and his willingness to let go of old opinions. Good for him, but tell him his daughter may really appreciate her long soccer road trips in a Tesla! 😊😊😊😊
Great video in allowing Jeff to be 'wowed' by the vehicle itself. His reaction says it all and hope he can educate his other friends who are EV skeptics.
I think this video shows exactly how to kindly walk a friend through truth. And a good friend who’s humble and honest to learn and experience first hand. This applies to many things in life. Nice works lads.
Your friend Jeff seems like a genuine guy. I'm glad he liked it, although he said he was more of a truck guy. I wonder what he would think of the new Ford F150 Lightning or the Cybertruck (whenever it comes out). I think it does help to test drive one. That is what hooked me in the first place :)
I bought my tesla in 2019 coming from a 2013 Prius. Needless to say, I got stomped and dragged and left for dead when I tried justifying my Prius. No one on my job (all males) wanted to hear anything. After trading in the Prius, (loved the car), for the 2019 Tesla, the bashing began again. All of the battery issues, charging times, and lack of charging stations became the topic of many conversations/debates. Finally, one of my co-workers needed a ride home. It was a short ride but while riding he said, "Show me what this thing can do". I immediately stepped on the accelerator, (Dual Motor not Performance), and he began to scream louder and louder telling me to slow down. All I did was take him down one street for a little less than 1000 feet. He commented after leaving the car but, it wasn't much. A few days later, I passed by the job, he was standing outside, and when he saw me he began to talk about the car's acceleration. So, here I was again, taking someone else for a quick spin. Yes, they were very impressed despite trying to disguise it. After all has been said and done, there are now 5 Tesla owners on my job. LOL
I love Tesla's , great video, watching here in Australia, I would love to own one but can't afford one, I'm am old retired Truckie/Trucker, but my Daughter does not like the idea of EV;s, because she has not and will not take the time to research the Tesla's , look forward to your next video.
Opposite in my house. My daughter bought one first and she asked me to drive it and I ordered one that day. I have a mid engine corvette convertible and I love it but still prefer the Tesla
@@zwieseler great article, and I am not a Tesla hater at all, it's a amazing machine with what musk has created. with that said I have been a gearhead for many years, both 2 and 4 wheels. Also have some high performance credentials, been on racetracks numerous times, so I have some knowledge. Every man made device has plus' s and minus's . But the Tesla dudes kinda pompus attitude comes off as the typical Tesla PROPAGANDA fanboy. Only giving one side of the story( i.e. propaganda) , and never any drawbacks, the way honest reviewers did decades ago. An e.v is NOT the best choice for everyone, at least now! Again, before Tesla fans throw a hissy fit like a scorned school girl reading this, EVs are the future. However, right now, there are a lot of drawbacks to e.v.'s. What if you live in an apartment?( charging it) , OR the fun fact producing e.v. batteries is EXTREMELY inefficient. To produce one 1000 pound e.v. battery, nearly a half a million pounds of material has to be excavated( and by slave labor). Or, the sad fact lately Tesla's woefully inadequate autopilot have killed 2 motorcyclists. The plaid is the fastest quarter mile production car*, beating million dollar European hyper i.c.e. cars ( it pains me to say this). However, for it's crazy straight line speed, the plaid has God awful crappy brakes.and this is NOT my opinion. Don't believe me? Look up the pros comments from car and driver magazine about on a twisty road driving a plaid at speed they had to slow down after a few hard braking episodes with the brakes emitting burning smell( and the cars dashboard flashing a hot warning light. Really,???? ?After just several hard stops?on a 120 grand+ ( dollar) 1000 h.p.performance sedan???????? With all this said, e.v's are the future. Laws passed to force the public in buying these ( the sleazy politicians INVEST in e.v. companies (they buy stock in those companies, and their families)) have been enacted, so once zillions of e.v.s are produced , they become filthy rich( er). In closing, hats off to Elon for producing a electric vehicle that works as well as it does. It still has it's teething problems, and is far from perfect ( especially FOR everyone!) Still was fun to watch this video. *DISCLAIMER, I was incorrect regarding one fact, there is a e.v. that is faster than a plaid. Hint, it is NOT produced in North America, it's a coupe( 2 door), and the FIRST production unit ( though I'm not sure if a version has been produced for North America markets), was bought by the Formula 1 ( racing) world champion icon Nico Rosberg. Look it up! Thanks to the owners for sharing their positive stories. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, someone he respects and trusts will give him some more information on climate change. Lake Mead would be a good place to start.

This man should be in Tesla Sales. He hit every single point I use during a Testdrive. We just have a much more condensed amount of time to do it.
Thing is, Teslas don't need to be sold or advertised in a conventional sense. Tesla can't keep up with the demand as it is. There is a hold on ordering right now because they can't build them fast enough.

Greetz from germany, i have an Ev aswell but there are still problems with non tesla Evs. The charging infrastructure can be thin in sone places, or the charging ports are broken or dont work. True, I could give three flocks about the climate change narrative. This is the best car I’ve ever had and I hope I never have to go back to an ICE car. I don’t even look at cars I used to salivate over, like ferraris, porsches, aston martens.
My thoughts exactly!!
That is exactly how I look at it…not an environmentalist but I am a tech person and Tesla has got the cool tech for a car/SUV.

The unabashed savage has a crazy radio voice. Get this guy on a sports podcast!
Other EVs can use superchargers
Yah, but I think there are some creative things Tesla could do, outside of Elon's wheelhouse that would grow it's sales quite a bit and would more than pay for a good advertising department.
After owning a Tesla for 4 years and clocking over 180,000km I love it and will never go back, the misinformation can be dismissed in minutes, you just have too be willing to hear someone and learn from them.

I was wondering how many converts are created by every new Tesla owner taking friends out for rides. Can’t wait to do it when I get my MYLR next year.

I was basically this guy. Rented a M3, test drove a MY, then rented a MY. Then bought a MY 13 months ago. It took a while, but here I am. A northern Minnesota, EV convert, that will never buy an ICE vehicle again.

LOL
Anybody who doesn't like EVs .tough! That's what's coming, . Or you can stay behind and push your ice car.

You can literally see by his expressions him questioning everything he thought he knew. Seems like a great guy!
Keep it up!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying your Model Y, and that you’re enjoying the channel!
Our light bill went up $32 a month. The estimated gas savings is $110 to $132 per month.
You could've gotten another EV that isn't an ugly blob and and for much less

I think, you will be happy with one of these :)
I also have to say, much respect for your words. That was very funny :)
Some facts: the Zoe has 22kWh battery which is ~120km range for me. I'm driving 80km each day and was never forced to charge underway, starting at 100% and I get back at 40-46% each day in summer or at ~20-30% in Winter. With that old car, this is great.
Missleading Media is a huge problem, so I'm very happy that you took the test drive and debunked some points :)
Greetings and all time good travel from germany.
LOL
Which model 3?
@@roboticvenom1935 I'm not even sure. It was a while back now and his car is a couple years old. They might not even make his exact configuration anymore. (Knowing the owner, I suspect it is NOT the performance model.) My biggest mistake was being WAY too close to the semi truck when I punched it. I was accustomed to driving a Nissan Altima which has a throttle delay long enough to read a small book. That's when I learned that "instant" torque does not mean "mostly instant" torque. It means now. It means right freaking now.
That's one of the first thing you learn in the teslas, change lane first then accelerate :)
Feels the acceleration for the first time, instantly rethinks his lifecoices. ;-) in earnest, you have a nice way of not forcing your view on him.

So pleased you enjoyed it. I call mine spaceship. Crazy cool car.

Every Tesla owner can convert at least one person like this. I've done this scenario with a few people and every one of them come away with a changed viewpoint. Best car ever.
If only the Tesla designers would get away from the bland exteriors. Hyundai Ioniq 5 is my choice.
“EVs catching fire, quadrupling electric bills, non-existing climate change…” 😂. He was a genuine hater. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
it is harsh to say he was wrong , when there is so much disinformation out there.
I heard a great quote the other day.
There are 3 kinds of people in the world.
1. Those that can see
2. Those that can see once they have been shown
Hmmm. If I am told something, I check it out. I am therefore immune to misinformation. Its not hard to do.
@@dgbucko you are but immune dummy
OH... you need to get hold of the Plaid for him to drive...lol :):)
@@UTubeRangerBob the difference is even more dramatic when you compare to hybrids. Hybrids have about 2x as many fires per 100k as ICE cars.
@@GROND15 I didn't know that!
i do wish the speedometer font was a little biggger
I appreciate your honesty and how you objectively judged and recognized how wrong the information is out there.. I have so many rides to friends and they all changes their minds and some already bought teslas..
I rented a tesla 3 from hertz for a trip to south ga. Cost $120 a day. Worth $500 a day. Greatest driving experience of my life. It cost me around $12in charge fees to go over 300 miles. Easy to find charge stations. All I can say is go rent one from hertz for a day and have some real driving fun but beware, you might just find yourself getting a second job so you can buy one.
This is one of the most interesting videos Ive ever watched. You have a very nice friend.
If you like to gamble, you can go to EA... Saves a trip to Vegas.

More likely to "win" in Vegas?? 😙😙
@@rogerstarkey5390 At a minimum, you "win" free drinks!
EA is VWs punishment for dieselgate. I'd push my Tesla to any other charger before giving them a penny.
Thank you this video is going to get posted almost daily. The number of people who think the same in ignorance is amazing!
Thank you for watching!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and got some good value out of it!
Great video in allowing Jeff to be 'wowed' by the vehicle itself. His reaction says it all and hope he can educate his other friends who are EV skeptics.
Great video! Respect for the driver being able to be self critical and giving honest answers!!
The people I respect the most are those willing to change their mind. Great video
I think this video shows exactly how to kindly walk a friend through truth. And a good friend who’s humble and honest to learn and experience first hand. This applies to many things in life. Nice works lads.
Wow, kind words! thank you! 👊👊👊
My friend is Anti electric so I actually wanna see this. We are still good friends tho
Jeff and I have been great friends for years, we don’t have to agree on everything to be friends LOL Thank you for watching! I appreciate it!
Wait till he experiences the FSD beta. There’ll be many wows coming.
She should take a test drive and at least make an INFORMED decision.
What does she not like about them?? Especially now we’re looking at $2 a litre…?
Mate, come to Kiwi land ill take for a long drive. Lol
Go man! I live on a horse farm and have my CyberTruck ordered as my retirement present to myself. People are sadly misinformed. Keep up the good work!
We already had 200 Amp panel. Cost me $400 for the wall charger (didn't want just the nema plug as we don't have a garage). Cost another $825 for the electrician to install.
My delivery date updated and is between now and the 27th ... waiting impatiently for my X Plaid.
You are going to love it. Just don't drive it like you stole it, or you'll wreck it, and then you'll be sad!
You are really blessed. I can't wait to be in the position to order a Model X Plaid. Its on my vision board.
LUH-KEE!
And depending on your mileage the savings should make a big dent in that installation cost.
($247 *saving* (!) in the month mentioned)
The model x is ugly
So glad he opened up after trying the car. It was an instant sale for anyone that I allowed to drive me Model Y car
I did my first testdrive with my brand new M3P on curvy country roads in Norway. The car is pretty fun tbf. Im very happy with my purchase so far.
