Wouldn't recommend spray foaming right to steel roof paneling, if that roof is ever in need of replacement its going to be nearly impossible to. The weight of each sheet will be immense and you'll have to destroy them to just get them off. Also then you lose most if at all of your insulation, unless you are able to peel it off somehow keeping it intact. But the spray foam then molds to the shape of the ribs in your steel and will make putting the new sheets on more difficult. If you put down a house wrap between sheets and purlins that'll save you a lot of headache down the road. Glad to see it was just the lean-to. I build these for a living so I might just be nit-picking but I also think of how much work it will be and groan cause I've been there haha

You are correct, if you are young, this is something you should think about, but this metal roof will last for 50 plus years by the time it needs replacing there will be better insulation products to use not to mention I will be long gone. Thanks for your comment, definitely something each individual should consider.

Love this build. Game plan for myself is to eventually get a small barn up. Well done on all accounts.

how did you attach the steel roof joists to the wood 2x12's ?

I used 5/8 x 5 " lag bolts with washers to attach them to the 6x6's, 6 per truss. Pre drilled all the holes.

We have roughly $12000 in our barn. This was during the pandemic and building material prices have raised significantly since then. We also reused metal from an old barn that we bought for 25 cents a foot. Thanks for watching.

How much did it cost you to build the barn outside of adding the Stalls

Wow. I thought you were going to say a lot more than that. Seems very affordable for such a big barn. I want to build the same thing. I wish I had the plans and materials list.
