    Good videos, You may wind up replacing the transparent panels, I had to after 6 years.

      Yea the panels will need replacing, but the amount of light they let in is worth it to me. Thanks for letting me know how long yours lasted. I tried to do some research on how long they would last and everything I read said from 2 years to 20 years. LOL

    Thats a good idea using the man lift to set those trusses!

      Thank you. It worked very well. I had to rent a 50ft lift so it was big enough to lift them.

    Hi thanks for your videos! I am in the process of building a 40x60 pole barn my self. I’m having slight issues with the 6x6 posts warping towards the top. Is this something that you had to deal with on your build? If so did you have trouble putting trusses up? Thanks again.

    • @HippieHillHomestead
      @HippieHillHomestead  Рік тому

      Yes I did have trouble. But all the trusses went in fine. One of mine on the end I had to put a 20 ft pole on it to straighten it. How much did they warp?

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry Рік тому

      @@HippieHillHomestead mine are warped slightly. I think I can deal with it for now but my fear is that it will get worse before I put trusses on. On one of the 9 posts I have in the ground i might be 4 inches out at the top. That number will decrease as I have not cut the posts down to final height yet. I still have 11 more posts to set and then I can put trusses on. This weekend I’ll finish setting posts and then hopefully next weekend I will set trusses. Thanks for the speedy reply.

      @@CollinsCountry Ours bowed in several inches on each side, when we went to set the trusses we put a crow bar between the truss and the 6x6 and pushed it in. It wasn't to bad with 2 people. Mark the center of the 6x6 before you start this will make it easier when you set your trusses

      Hi Andrew, Generally the size of your posts depends on the height of of your barn, wind loads and snow loads. We used 6 x 6 posts but I wish I would have used 8 x 8. Good luck with your build. If you have anymore questions let me know.

    In your 5 mistake video you stated the Trusses were very heavy duty and well made. I watched all the videos and have yet to see who you ordered them from. If you don't mind please reply with where you purchased. Thanks

    curious why you used steel trusses instead of wood? cost? strength? ect? Also, curious approx what they trusses cost each?

    • @HippieHillHomestead
      @HippieHillHomestead  Рік тому +1

      We went with metal trusses for the extra strength, they are cheaper and they are easier to build with. All the trusses total cost $2700. Thanks for watching.

    How long do the roof trusses span?
    May I know the measurements of this please.

    • @HippieHillHomestead
      @HippieHillHomestead  3 роки тому +2

      Great question. You need to set your 6x6's inside measurement 39 feet 1 inch. Outside measurement 40 feet. Then each truss has an 16 inch overhang.. So the trusses are actually 42 feet 4 inches total length. If you have anymore questions let me know. Thanks for watching.
