- Because explaining isn't good enough anymore, let's show how one gets reassembled, I needed a better video for the simple task that didn't require this much critical thinking. I probably should have shortened this a bit more... Rubbish Bones...
wow - i was exactly the same stupid - unfiddled the thread......then i got a knot in my head about the mess and didn't use my mic until i found this tutorial.
Man - what a relief - super tutorial :). i had to re-thread a very similar shock-mount that was with a NT-1a set. thank you very much!
Fun fact, I over-torqued the joint on the mount because it kept slipping, and ripped the threading out. I now have my mic taped to the boomstick. 😅
This video was so funny. Also helped me solve a seemingly impossible problem. I feel like a village engineer , thank you!
You're a life saver. Bought a mic with a shockmount and the little rubber bands weren't placed right (I think the mount was refurbished and they didnt bother to set it back to where it was supposed to).
I had no clue how they were supposed to be set. Thank you so much!
OMG!!! Best video ever I tried for hours to figure this thing out after all the strings stretched out! THANK YOU
If you start with the hooks further down, there will be enough tension to prevent them from slipping out when you stretch the elastic band into the hooks you started with! I just figured it out, but wouldn't have done anything without your tutorial. Thank you, it really helped!
Thanks a bunch exactly what i needed. Mic is back up!!
Thanks man! I was kind of in the same boat as you. This video gave clear instructions on how to restring a shockmount. Thanks again 👍
Thanks man! Daughter thought she had to remove the bands to free the mic and left the mess on the floor. I also didn’t realize it was two bands because one was hidden behind my desk on the floor. I just fixed it and now I need to apologize to an 11 yr old for losing my temper.
Very helpful video. Mine was driving me crazy because no matter how many times I tied and re-tied, the mount would not stay stable. Finally realized that the problem was my strings had stretched too loose, so I folded them over and double-threaded everything. Voila.
fire pfp
You made me laugh out loud man, I don’t even know why. You’re a funny dude, and I do feel like the village idiot
Nah man, the village idiot wouldn't know to look up how to fix something. Cheers.
Thanks! Really helped cause my brothers broke after my cat sat down on it. Hopefully he won't be mad.
Yeah, wouldn't want the cat to have a hissy fit after breaking household items. 😁
Thanks so much bro I was over here going crazy trying to figure this out. Your the man!
This video was my last chance before I gave up and just ordered a new one, THANK YOU!!!!!
You’re the GOAT🐐 for this fam💯🙌🏾
I have used this video several times and it is very helpful. Thanks!
Mine were all stretched out.. I used regular hair ties and they worked perfect.
The only problem was the hooks needed to be closed up a little for the bands to stay in place.
Easy peasy !😊
That's what happened to mine. I didn't use it for years and when I got it out - no more stretch
bro thanks a lot, i took the strings off and i was like "wait this is 2 strings??"
You deserve all the riches in the world !!!!! OMG ! Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you ! This is the most amazing thing I’ve seen all day, such a big help !!!!!!
Chief, im gonna have to politely decline on a monetary offer.
Thank you I had a real hard time trying to figure this thing out 😂
OMG, you have saved me. This turned into a cube for me. I couldn't figure this out for longer than I care to admit. I nearly bought a new shock mount out of frustration. FYI, mine mount fell apart the bands got and overstretched. I used a medium hair band tie to substitute and it actually worked better than the ones they come with. you! This took me MINUTES.
i exactly was an idiot and unstringed my shock mount :) but you saved me
Thanks man this help me so much got it all together then my dumbass put the mic then mess up the hold thing.
In my defense, i did not realize my strings were stretched out and were at least twice the circumference of the ones you show. Luckily I had my original case and they included spare strings and now I know why.
oh my god, this comment saved me!! i have the same mic and i was wondering why nothing i did to keep the damn thing in place worked, when i realized mine had somehow gotten stretched. kept my case but didn’t know there were extras inside, thanks for inadvertently saving the day!!
same here!
geez😂 i thought i was the problem but looked in my studio shit n luckily i saves the spare
YOU JUST SAVED ME SO MANY HOURS THANK YOUUUUU
boyyyyyyyyy @3OrMoreBones i needed this video thanks soooo much bro. You're so underated
Better to have a good community of few, rather than a bad community of many.
@@3OrMoreBones wise words
Thanks man. With your help got it the fist time.
Your the man! Got one for my birthday yesterday and like a idiot dropped the flipping mount and it detached. 😂
OMG thank you for this VIDEO!!!!!!
thank you so much, this video was so helpful, I'm glad the it comes with two extra strings because my first pair stretched out, oh and I am the type of guy who sprays jizz on dresser and who is on th kept diet
Thank you Very much 🙏🏽🖖🏽🙏🏽🎶🎵 my elastic bands where old and had lost their elasticity . So two hair ties and your awesome video got me back on track
Thank you, I felt really dumb and messed with it for like 45 minutes before deciding to look it up haha, I was thinking they would cross over from the top to the bottom and vice versa.
Hilarious and much needed, thank you
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks, this really helped!
Thanks, Guy.
Super helpful, thanks!!
thank you soooooo much!!!! saved me!!
thanks bro, helped a lot
Thank you Sir !
your a goat thank you lol my dumbass was having trouble
Thanks. I don't feel so utterly stoopid now knowing I'm not the only one who forgot you need TWO pieces of string! Duh!
Thank you! Just what i needed. Exact model too!
Thanks for this video. Very helpful. Great job!
Thank you so much!!!
Saved my life again 🤦🏾
THANK YOU! I was about to cry lol
Tip: Use Hair Ties when these bands die down. Works just the same and cheap.
Nice video (although the bands were wore out on mine) I was able to find out how to string it up with this video. Mine is a little different and the metal clip things are above and not through the ring so The only thing this vid needs is a little clarification about that, I was a little confused at first. Otherwise vary simple and helpful, thanks!
Thank you man...now I can get bacc to work!!!
Hey thanks for doing this.
I need to replace my elastic strings. Where are these screws you tightened? I had my same model mic slip out of the holder and unfortunately hit the base of the mic stand. It all happened so fast I am not sure where it hit the mic, but hopefully, when I test it later, it works OK. So I am wondering if these screws you mentioned are loose....Thanks.
Phil
PS...After watching some other videos on this, yours is clearly the best and easiest to follow. Kudos and well done...
The screws held the brackets where the bands go around i believe.
@@3OrMoreBones OK Thanks. Not sure why my mic slipped through and hit the floor. I did not squeeze those release clips, so I will have to take a look tomorrow when in my studio.
Phil
Wear and tear. I recommend duct tape to add girth to the mic.
Or... duct tape the mic to the holster.
helped alot thank you
I love you man
thank you so much!
What to do if the mic just doesn't fit in to the hole? The hole itself is too narrow for the mic to come through.
Thanks. Arg. MXL user too lol.
Thanks sir ❤️
If hooking around the big hooks doesn't seem to be working and they keep popping out, try the smaller ones first
thanks for that
This helped thank you. I bought it this way it wasn’t my fault!
OMG thank youuuuuuuuuuu!
Doing this on my Rode NT2, each of the rings just had to have one hook where the clearance was smaller than the others, and no matter how hard I pulled the band, I just couldn't get it narrow enough. So had to use pliers and a screwdriver to open them up. Managed one, but on the second one the hook sheared off. Cue wha-wha-wha trumpet and Rode execs snorting into their Balters.
Snorting into their Balters lol.
Thank you, this really helped me. because I got this rap equipment from my school they gave it to me and I needed help with this and you helped me out thank you and do you know how to stop the mount from failing down in front of you because my mic keep falling and it’s not staying up
Its made from cheap metal and i stripped mine... i mean, rig it with zipties maybe? But thats alot of fanagle baggel to deal with.
Thank you soooo much
Bro u just saved my life 🔥💪 king
Thank you for making this video man
this was SO HELPFUL thank you!. does anyone know what the string is called, i need to get a new one and im not sure what to look up!
For a quick fix, use a pony tail hairband.
Just stretch it out a little and it will be appropriate.
BIG THANKS
Thank you so much. I really did become the village idiot. The second rubber thing, of course, was missing. Thanks, really!
Thanks man. Lifesaver!!
THANK YOU!!!!!
Hey i have this exact same shockmount and the piece holding it on the boom arm is shaky and how could i fix?
thx!
thank you so much, brother! we have the same microphone! =)
Thanks so much
Soooo helpful and funny I liked and subscribed thank you so much 😁😃
Thanks!
thank you
Omg thank you so much
Thanks mate
hey man i need your help,i accidently took the pieces apart and now i dont know how to get the mic slot back into the centre of the circle because the metal tabs on the slot block it
Thanks a lot! You're a life saver 🙏🏻 jajqjq
PLEASE!!! if you could link me a site for that shockmount I would be such a happy camper
Thanks man
And ideas where to acquire replacement bands for the MXL990? Can't seem to find them... Thanks!
I don't have a clue sadly. You could buy hairbands at walmart and they should function similarly?
I need a 60mm shockmount (to fit MXL 990). Does anyone have a link, please?
Fantastic video! Thanks so much for sharing. Please could you humour me.. I'm wanting to get replacement bands, do I need a specific length? The MXL 990's are out of stock and I'm not sure if they're still in production. Will any elastic hair band do? Thanks for your help man. We all appreciate it! :)
Just get some elastic hair bands? Might not be as durable I imagine.
Great vid thanks bro
thanks homie.yeeee
Hi nice video, but what can I do if my mic is too large for my shockmount?
All I got for ideas is firmly duct-taping it to the stand. Sorry I don't have much else for solutions.😅
Thank uuu
hey @3OrMoreBones thank you for this gem. Maybe you can help me with another issue: no matter what mic stand I use, the bit you screw onto the mic stand is always loose, like the threads are two hairs too wide. They just don't grip. How can I replace/fix this piece? You have this piece off in this video so I'm wondering if you had the same issue. Help muuuuch appreciated.
Beware the cheap mic stand might have an aftermarket attatchment point. I always use duct tape to hold it down.
@@3OrMoreBones Thank you, I wrapped the threads with masking tape and it holds like a charm 🎉
thanks
👍👍👍
mate so fucking helpful, cheers dude
I took 5 days until I find this video 😂😂😂
Bro, I'm genuinely sorry it took you that long.
Mine has suddenly become lose.
thank youu so muchhh
Happy Christmas!
merry christmass!!! ❤️
omg thx
i love you
Woah now, let's back things up and regroup.
Godsend
my Mic fell and some strings went off
