Brilliant !you made an all-around video that we can appreciate not only fishing but also cooking.
It was an absolute pleasure showing you our backyard! Thanks for the delicious dinner
You're videos have become a diner time tradition and we make a lot of your recipes, thanks for all the good time and good recipes.
Noooo waaaaay I've been watching for a couple of years now waiting for you guys to come to NZ omg I'm sooo fkn excited for these vids
You make food into art. That is more a gift than it is a skill. The albacore tuna truly showcased your exquisite artistry (considering how exhausted you were). The terakihi…who knows how to elevate and transform steamed fish into delicate, richly spiced and beautifully presented fare?
Only in the hands of an Artist can food become such masterpieces.

When I grow up, I want to be Taku, and I just turned 62! So much fun to watch the good life being lived. Stay fresh.
always a good day for some blue fin and my favorite youtuber!
So cool that you get to hang out with all these like minded people on the other side of the world because of your talent!
What AN ABsolute Banger of a video Taku. I love the catch and cook vids. Keep up the great content.
Everything always looks so delicious
Welcome to New Zealand! Enjoy your stay :)

Fantastic video as always! 🥳🤩🥳
WOW! Beautiful fish! Nice catch.
Love u brother happy fishing hope u enjoy the south island shame I'm in the north 😉
Food always looks good when my man Taku presents it!
What a trip! On my list to do one day! For now, I’ll live someone else’s desired trip 🤷🏼♂️🥰
oh my homie is in our country!!! brother surely you stop by queenstown or even the salmon farms in takapo!
パパチェルさんのチャンネルから飛んできました😊魚捌くの凄く上手です😊👍
Loved it! Wish I could have tasted that albacore belly!!!
🔥video ❤
We have albacore in WA! My PB was 33lbs!
amazing video
Feels like im waiting for months for a video to come out!
So good taku❤
Hope all is well.
You need a personalized set of taku sticks in with your knifes so you always have them wierd seeing you use forks lol.
Are you going to do a catch and cook with the New Zealand Family?
Albies. Long fins. Burros(as in donkeys) Shiro maguro(white tuna). Albacore, baby. Best tasting sashimi, u can find. Better than blue fin by far. We used to catch em 18 to 45 pounders back in da 80's, out of Ensenada, Baja California, Mex. Lousy road conditions, banditos, policia, federales all made for quite a road trip from L.A. Nothing like freshly caught albacore. Had many all u can eat sushi parties. MIL used to make the best sushi rice. Everybody made their own sushi cones. What fun! Sapporo beers. Hai.
That fish looks like about a 12 pounder. Baby fish. Er, ah..I mean gourmet style albacore.
Hey Taku, that's ur 1st albie? U gotta eat the heart or u won't have good luck next time out. Best eaten fresh as possible. The heart has to b still beating, & chewed, not just swallowed whole.😂 Anything to catch more fish! Hook up!
Aloha, and don’t forget tombo.
24:45 how you deal with the paper being on the fish does it not stick to the fish will all that juice how did u get the paper off without leaving on the fish
Hay, what kind of
knife does Taku use to dispatch that Albie?
Need that lamb chop recipe cooked in New Zealand!
Nice watch
Need to come to east coast do do Black Sea bass and striper bass fishing
Taku be sure to locate the #BlackFerns and feed them a spectacular sashimi feast!
Big up Canyon beers!
Nice 😊 🤠💪💪🤙💯💯👌
❤❤❤
Do you perform ikijime on them? Curious
how about bonito compared to albacore and tuna? Third place?
Was that a smith brand folding knife you used at first?
What the heck, you should have a few sets of chop sticks in your knife bag.
Can you do that recipe with any member of the tuna family? Mackerel?
Yummmmm
Sick filleting beats
Why do people use left hand reels and cast with their right and switch it back to their left?? Seems like so much more work
Need a collab with Lateral Line...."Mainland" where u at
Jocelyn's the smart one. Get a smaller one. Easier to catch and keep and eat.
I was wondering why do you bleed out a fish?
You live everyone’s dream life, I’m jealous yes, I’m I envious NO I’m proud for my boy Taku🫡🫡🫡
Outdoor Chef Life vs Deer Meat For Dinner
You really need to have a cook off and I would love to see it... Robert would likely win but you would have to prove if you are the better Chef lol
Well did it work to get you wanting a competitive cook off with ( Deer Meat for Dinner )
Robert could take you fishing
Taku is high paying chef at wealthy restaurant and his private cook are for the rich. You are comparing NBA player (Taku) to high school player :)

If you want to catch a kingfish you want to call into the marlborough sounds and make your way to stephens passage. This time of year we are getting 30kg kings and 10kg+ snapper
I was just at the french pass but didn't see any kingfish
@@OutdoorChefLife stephens is other end of durville island. Cant miss them right now
taku brings his own knife set but doesnt have his own set of stix?? wows😢 i have 15+ easy 😂😂 oh c’mon man
We do have some good seafood/kai moana💯
Why leave the eyeballs on the plate.... killed my appetite
Man the fat content on the NZ alb is pretty low. I recently saw one from Japan that was even lower in fat. And of course the Hawaiian/south pacific albacore is terribly lean.
CA albacore may as well be a different species. This fish gets such a bad rap because it's rare to find a full fat fish like we get in California. Japan occasionally gets them -- they're called bin-toro and are pretty prized. But most albacore around the world is low fat and not great. California albacore, rich with fat, ranks among the best fish on Earth.
nice its tacooo he should be doing ads for china
I wish one time you would just say “I’m Taco” for the memes
Try and catch jewellery fish
Still here?
Welcome to our country Aotearoa
Mean maori mean never thought youll come
I never get tired of watching Taku fillet a fish
I dont either - i do get tired of seeing him make sashimi tho
@@RogueStatusX I think Taku should branch out into hunting too. Fish is great, but game is better. Bird, deer, elk, bison, boar… hunting provides wayyyyy more variety. Fish is… well… fish. Lol
Lol i said the same thing when i saw him fillet the tuna. Idk why but its just satisfying to watch
Who needs a filet knife? Not Taku
your tirelessness is exhausting
This series is as enjoyable as the Alaska trip and hope you and Jocelyn have a great time there.
Peace 🕊️
Taku, here's my trick I do for letting line out quickly and more accurately.
Every 50 ft I put a bobber stopper knot so I can just let out instead of counting the pulls. So you get to the 3rd knot you know your exactly 150 ft back without having to count pulls, and not everyone pulls the same or do the same consistent pull length.
I got tired of counting 50+ pulls. It also helps when landing the fish because once you get to the 50 ft knot you know, don't have to guess how far the fish is out still. You could use line counter reels but I hate how bulky they are.
26:07 Absolutely Brilliant! We feel as though you two are fishing and cooking for us, the viewers.
Big big ups to Taku’s mom with the amazing hand-made gear!❤
I LOOVE my knife bag and apron.
The kelp chili krisp is now a staple in my diet absolutely love it ❤
I'd love to see a collab between Taku and Rob from deermeatfordinner
Taku and Jocelyn you guys are so awesome
Your attention to detail and the meaningful way you prepare each dish is amazing. Thanks Taku!!
I'm confused, 🤔 if you're gonna skin it why scale it?
Maybe it makes it less abrasive when using the sharper knife for skinning? I'm just guessing though, I'm also interested in the actual answer.
Because Taku is not a Chef
Taku is most definitely a chef
They might’ve cooked it to a crisp and enjoy the meaty skin
Because it keeps the work area clean
If you can land a bluefin tuna on a kayak you would be more of a legend than you already are! Aloha from Alaska! 🤙🏼
He would be "The Young Asian Chef and the Sea". Hemmingways second unpuiblished novel.
Seeing the eyes on the steamed fish reminds me of Sea of Thieves 😅
Kia Ora Brother
Love the videos 💯💯💯
With Respect from Morocco...
As always Taku, top tier quality content! Your dish preparations at the end looked soo good 🤤 keep ‘em coming man you’re killing it!

Dang ever meal 5*****
Watching this as I eat my canned tuna 😂😂😂
😋👍
What a interesting way of preparing the sashimi. What kind of soy sauce did you use? I'm afraid it might get too salty.
Dude your knives suck... Get a 8 inch Forshner and a 6inch Forshner Curve.. I enjoy everything but your cutting with a Chef's knife on fish 👊🏾🫵🏾🙌🏾
💛...living the dream... btw, are you running your own commercials now?...i see you've got your name on the motor...
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌🗺🗺🗺🌐🌐🌐🌏🌏🌏🌎🌎🌎🌍🌍🌍
Love me some Albacore. Rather eat them than Bluefin, tbh. Though I might be biased because I can catch them here and not BFT. lol
That is a really small one, even by Oregon standards. I think Japan gets them at the largest scale, up to around 50lbs. They make a big ass loop and at the end they spawn and are at their largest size.
Edit: Current all-tackle world record is 88lbs in the Canary Islands in 1977. That's a big Alby!
aprons selling faster than The Cure tickets 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
Yoooo the texture for Tuna will improve tons if leave that baby in cooler. At lease 24 hours but not more the two days. Tricks of da Hawaiian trade. Definitely even more for Aku and Binito da more bloody fish. One game changa. Loving da episodes!
Welcome to New Zealand Taku. Just bumped into this video and your channel. I subscribed straightaway :)
Wow Taku you and your partner have an epic life Sir much Love just watching the Alaska hot spring seafood bounty rating Sir fantastic 😀 👍 👏 👌
When you bleed it brother you put the knife Behind the pectoral fin, for best results. Then put it into a salt ice slurry. Respect The fish you lost wasn't a kingfish, but was a kahawai. Named by our Maori people. Kaha= strong, Wai = water, so Strong in the water, is kahawai. I still have no idea why Japanese chefs, take off the head, then gut and wash the fish, then take a fillet off each side. What a waste of time
yo been watching you for only a short period but holy smoke your channel is amazing man! keep up the good work. I'm sure I watched over 20 plus videos already lol just recently saw the Oregon movie too!
