When you buy all those expensive vehicles, you get hit with interest on multiple car loans, massive depreciation X 4, high insurance bills, the tires are incredibly expensive and you are blowing through $10,000 per year just on gas. This is insanity on steroids! And they aren't even reliable to top it all off. Living that way is crazy unless you are a doctor pulling in $500k per year.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the vehicles. About 4-5 years ago you called me out for complaining about the cost of these vehicles that keep becoming more and more expensive, and the quality does not match the cost increase. You said "if I'm complaining about the price it means I can't afford it", totally untrue. Fast forward to today, you are a bit older, a bit wiser, and have a family. Regarding your electrical/airbag issues, was the windshield ever replaced? Many issues can incur due to leaks that plagued the driver side sill area where a plethora of electrical run. If it was replaced, you may have a claim with those who sold it and others who replaced the glass. It’s critical that, not only OEM Glass is used since it’s much thicker, but it’s installed correctly. Personally I don’t advise giving up on the Land Cruiser. I have a 2019 and my wife drives a 2021 Lexus LX. The best!

bought a 2007 lexus GX470 last fall. did all the background checks i could via paper trail. Timing belt and water pump changed 10k miles before i got it. Clean clean frame. even had a newish BP51 suspension. 4 months in. got oil changed. was told cam and crank shaft seals leaking..and..found out oil pump was leaking.. paid $20k for truck. had spent $2k on some body work and $1k on headlights and now found i needed $6400 in oil leak fix for "the most bullet proof car ever" ..only person i'd trade that dump too is the dealership who sold it to me "Blue Star auto group" Longmont CO. what a screw job. even for bullet proof engines. get it checked out by mechanic.

I experienced this scenario a few months ago. Brought my wife's RX 330 into the dealer for a routine oil change (Lexus of Greenwood Village, CO). I always expect them to find more service items, but was not expecting them to quote me ~$5,500 to replace the "leaking" valve covers and main seal. The service advisor counseled me by saying if a repair is more than $5K, then it probably makes sense to trade it in on a newer car (ostensibly, off their lot). I was a bit surprised how quickly my routine service appointment turned into a proposal to trade the car in, and suspicious that the repair job just so happened to be more than the trade-in threshold. Something didn't smell right to me, because there were no wet leaks on our garage floor. I passed on the dealer's proposal and took the RX to an independent shop (Toy Car Care in Centennial, CO). TCC confirmed the valve cover leaks, but found no evidence of a main seal problem. I had them do the work ($1,000, including oil change) and its been running great with no signs of a main seal leak. I can't prove it, but I believe the dealer was not acting in good faith. I get it. Times are difficult for car dealers, but instead of coming clean with customers, many (most?) are using all manner of tricks, like scaring service customers with a huge repair bill, to score a good used car on the cheap. I did send an email to the dealership's General Manager, but never heard back. I am in the market for another Lexus, and thankfully there are more than a few other dealers in the area to choose from.

Hey Ben! So you should consider putting it up for sale in the private market and find your buyer. Settle on a purchase price. But don’t sell it yet to the buyer. Now you need to work with a friendly dealer to buy something new. Include the trade in the deal. You tell them what you want for your SUV (the settled price) because you already have a buyer ready to go. Negotiate that into your new car purchase deal. You have your buyer meet you at the dealership where they can purchase the vehicle at the pre-negotiated price.

Then by the time I'm 65 in 2.5 years, I will have my F-150 and her CX-5, both low-mileage, paid off, and would have eliminated over $1,000/mo in car payments. What problem is the current Cruiser giving you? If you can swallow the loss in value I’d sell it. Thats Step 1.
And I wouldn’t be too hung up on the “feel” of the new Cruiser. It’s a 4 cylinder with lower fuel requirements, greater MPGs, newer, and a more practical way to get around.

Just traded my 2015 TRD Pro 4Runner (one owner 130k miles) for a new First Edition. There definitely is a noticeable difference with the powertrain. But overall it's a more modern vehicle that will take me into the future more comfortably.

You are talking about power band. The 4 cylinder makes more powe at its top rpm. But the v8 makes more power in its whole curve. I own 3 cars. Well 2 mustangs and an excursion. I work on my vehicles. I paid about 11k for all 3. All run and drive perfect. I couldn't imagine monthly payments. That's a lot of mods.

Since you’re keeping one of the land cruisers, I’d say you gotta commit to keeping it for a long time. Should be reliable barring another roof incident. Swapping the bronco raptor for something like a sports car might be a good move. Then you’ve got more variety in the car fleet.

Why do you have so many vehicles? I only have 2 vehicles, '22 Corolla my daily driver and 2014 370Z weekend warrior. Probably going to sell the 370Z and get a Rav4. Need a bigger vehicle for Costco shopping, AWD for some off roading and snow.

All I want is ONE Land Cruiser and you have TWO! lol. In a perfect world my wife has her SQ5, I'm looking to get out of my Subaru Lease and go with something larger for two kids Ie. Cruiser, Sequoia, Tahoe, something and then a 3rd car for fun / weekends.

Take the Land Cruiser 4 wheeling on the beach, get it stuck right near the shoreline and wait for the tide to come in. Make sure your insurance is paid up to date & file a total loss claim, LOL!

You purchased two, one was an unusually bad example. What is really unfortunate is that it is the one for your wife. Give her “yours”, trade in the bad one and get whatever will be good for UA-cam content. It is unfortunate but not much worse.

Ben, we just sold our LandCruiser. It sold for high book on the 3rd day of listing. You might do the same if you are willing to list it on Autotrader or the like. Dealer offers are usually not the way to go unless you are shy about selling it outright. Mine has the same engine as yours and the 6 speed auto. It gave 98k of trouble free life and the interior still looks great, it drives like new and everything works. We also own 4 cars with one to deliver and two on the way here. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to have 4 or 5 vehicles that are built for the same purpose like you have. We have a Landcruiser (Sold the old and just ordered a new version), a Lexus convertible, a Toyota Tacoma TRD-Pro, a BMW M2 and just ordered a Lexus RX350 Hybrid. One is for camping, two are for towing boats/ATV's/jetskis, one is for a road trip anytime but winter, one is for flat out driving fun, one is for hauling a quad/dirt/garbage and one is for cheap travel. Your channel may dictate that all are offload SUV's, but most people are not willing to pay for the insurance and gas on a fleet of large SUV's. I do hope you have happy car trading experiences though. My advise is to diversify. Initial price is cheaper, insurance is cheaper in most cases and you'll have variety to experience.

Ben if you’re buying cars for content and making car videos. You should know the values and the depreciation of each. I don’t do UA-cam videos but I know the values of my cars and before I buy them . I don’t buy more than I can fit in my garage. Which may be 3 or 4 depending on where I’m living

Love your content Ben, but losing some money on it should not be a problem based on the amount of vehicles you flip. Buy one or two u like and just enjoy them with your family! Make memories with them! That’s where your real value is! 5 years from now none of those cars will even matter! I plan on keeping my 22 5th gen TRD pro for an awhile and driving everywhere and stickering up that rear window until it tells its own story! You have great taste, mostlly….stick with made in Japan…..👍👍
