Just to give you a heads-up the microphone you use is mono and it slow and then when your music plays it is blasting hopefully you can get those balanced out

You are absolutely correct. I misunderstood it at first. Still a great program and option.
Side note. Cut 2 short pieces of pool noodle and slip over two of the rungs on your ladder so that the Rhino tank isn’t rubbing against the ladder.

I would mount the bottom bracket above the support from the ladder that goes to the trailer so that if the mount loosened it could not slide down beyond the ladder support. TP

I went with the same set up, except for we use a 30 foot telescopic pole, most of our locations have had a lot of trees. We’ve had good luck so far…
How’s the 30 foot do for you when it’s setup that high? I assume there has to be some movement in the pole
@@WhyNotRV In light to moderate wind seems OK so far, but when a storm rolls in with stronger winds I just bring it down! Not worth risking any type of damage.
The payoffs are huge when you can connect to the net! We had no bars of cellular service, we were able to make Wi-Fi phone calls, watch a movie with the grandkids, and keep in touch with the rest of the adult children and banking as needed. For us it was worth the effort, had to at least try.

@@WhyNotRV We sure are, but we get funny looks sometimes, either what the heck is that, or a look of that’s not camping. To the naysayers, we are Glamping, and liking it… I’ve spent hundreds of nights in the back country and every season, I am just fine.
Trust me I know that feeling lol. Everyone spends time RVing differently. To me it’s all about making memories and enjoying life.

Why would you want to put a wi-fi router in the basement locker surrounded by metal, unless your running a hard line from router to main RV interior? That would not be a good broadcast location for a router.
For a house trying to maximize broadcast sure but in an rv it reaches fine through the entire rig

I wouldn’t keep the Starlink in it while driving but the pole itself sure.

Off topic I notice your mini split system I have that same brand on my home except my is a 220 v 28k btu works great what size are you using curious as I have a 35 foot 5th wheel with stock a/c and they are loud when running

One more question...... We live around a lot of big trees and the best "Obstructions" % we can get with the 75' cable is 6-7%. We are waiting for the 150' cable to arrive(10 more days) before we set up our system. What is the minimum % Obstructions to get the system to work "decently" and should we just set it up and see how it works with the 75' cable? We currently have DSL with at best 1.5 Mbps speed.

Obviously the more clear of a view you can get the better for consistency. I’m sure you’ll probably get better speeds than DSL even with the trees but there’s no harm in setting it up and testing it and seeing where it’s at. The biggest thing is trying to get it as high as possible to get a clear view
How is the reception inside your trailer when your router is in a cargo bay?
It does perfectly fine for the entire RV. They’re designed to be inside of houses that are four or five times the size of an RV.

Umm…DISH has offered the turn on/off service for years. Starlink set up & monthly is a bit pricey for the occasional user.
I will agree it’s a bit pricey for the occasional user. Definitely not “meant” for that person. Better options for that type of user.
If you place your router inside the rv will your devices get signal while sitting outside?
Yes, it puts out a circular type of signal. Call anywhere from 25 to 50 feet away from it. Depending on what all is in its way.
You mounted it to the "left side" of the ladder. Any reason why? Seems like it would be easier to get to on the right side. Is it even possible to mount on the right side of the ladder? I am wondering if the orientation of the two "flanges" on the top mount require it be on the left side.
It can absolutely be mounted on the right side. No particular reason I did it on the left.
@@WhyNotRV I just purchased one and installed it. It is intended to go on the left side. The only way to put it on the right side is to mount it in front of the ladder. The instructions even state this. Just want your follower to know. BTW I love it. My only problem is it costs to much.
What if you don't have a ladder? Can you get one? from an RV Store? It seems this is the easiest install.
You can add an rv ladder. It will obviously be multi use and probably a worth while investment.

Thank you for watching. I moved the router to under the bed basically. There’s room for it up against the outer wall. Signal is great throughout.

I have a square ladder on my trailer as opposed to a round tubular ladder form. Would the mounts to firmly attach to the square tubing? I love the idea, and have been struggling to find a decent solution,
The mounts are rounded and meant for a round ladder mount. I’m sure it would work but definitely not as secure of a connection as you get with the rounded
nskeggs, did you find a solution? I have the same issue. I was thinking of using leather, or foam, or.....something to put between the two in order to give it more purchase.
What county of Florida are you from? We just bought our RV and got the hell out of Broward County cus it's way too overpopulated!!
This was in Pinellas county. We sold our home there back in April and now live in Virginia
I've been using Starlink for 3 months now and I've just been looking for open sky (generally to the North) and placing the Starlink dishy on the ground near my trailer. If there are no obstructions (trees), it works great. I don't see why elevating the dishy with this flagpole mount system will really improve the situation? If there are no obstructions, I get great performance, if there are obstructions, does it really matter if the dish is now 20ft above the ground? Can you please explain the improvement I will see by elevating the dishy? Great video - I'm just trying to understand if I really need this flagpole system?
Of course depending on where you’re located and camping and what not. But say in a busy campground or somewhere there’s cars driving by, people walking etc. that will cause obstructions. Additionally. Keeping it high will keep you over basic shrubbery and lower trees. Prevents people from easily “walking away with it”.
@@WhyNotRV Thanks for the prompt response and I do agree with your thinking. Do you travel with the pole mounted or do you have it stored somewhere? Obviously, you don't want to travel with the dishy mounted on the extended pole.
For travel the pole and dishy all come down and stored in the pass through.
You didn't show the part where you attach the pole holder and the bottom cup holder to those clamps. Did you do that before you put it on? I can't figure out the bottom cup. How do you get that attached? It won't attach with an Allen wrench. Maybe I have to remove the Velcro? I already mounted the mounts? I guess I got to take the damn thing off. These instructions are worthless
The cup mounts to the mount first. Then you mount to the ladder

Has anyone tried the fiberglass pole vs aluminum? Better or worse ? Thx
I personally have no experience with the fiberglass pole. I believe it’s a bit heavier than aluminum but is rated for higher winds as well.
How's using the 3 poles in the wind?
No issues. I would say adding a 4th and 5th you’d start to potentially get some sway

Does it need to be that high above the roof?
And does the RV or wind movement affect the connection?
It needs a clear view of the sky. I bought 3 sections of pole. Most of the time I only use 2 and it is only about a foot or 2 above the roof line. Wind doesn’t really affect it that I’ve noticed. It’s not up while in motion

I’m in SW Az. You could set it on the ground and still have a horizon to horizon view out here. No trees. That’s why I was asking.
Also meant the movement just walking around inside, not traveling.

Beyond worth it! Spent a week in a cellular dead zone. Starlink gave us WiFi calling, texting, data and streaming. Even with the trees we had service. Starlink app said we were dropping out every 28 seconds but we never noticed any outages/buffering. Extremely impressed and pleased. Prior to the week trip we spent 3 days in another dead zone with trees and had great service just sitting on the ground. Two trips in and impressed on both. First trip had so many trees I almost didn't even try it. It locked right on. So glad I didn't wait another year or two. As soon as the RV plan came out, I jumped on board.
