    I had the RVMP 4000i installed in my Class A last year by a professional installer. AHEM. Jerkoffs didn't bother to connect the propane, and then played dumb afterwards. So I haven't had it connected since the install. Now we've got a hurricane a'comin' and I'm sure we're going to lose power, so we are likely going to end up hanging out in the RV after the storm is over. 75 gallon gas tank is full, and the 65 gallon propane tank is also full, so today as part of our hurricane prep, we are using your video and are going to hook up the propane line to the RVMP. Thank you for a very simple video on how to do this. It's so easy I'm even MORE pissed that those guys we paid $1300 to install this generator didn't do this when they were supposed to. Yes, I know- we got hosed, but it's a long story! The good news is that we have been using this generator for a year and it has performed flawlessly. We are very happy with the purchase, just not the installation! Thank you!

      That’s great to hear! I’m glad my video helped!!! I’d recommend if you don’t already, get some extra oil for it. Have you done any oil changes yet?

      @@WhyNotRV We did change the oil after the first 25 hours. I'm a fan of Royal Purple synthetic, so that's what we're running in it. I always have that on hand. I do love the fact that this doesn't need any oil filters like the old Onans did. That's just one less thing to have to keep around or buy!

    I would so love to do that, but oofph - I barely clear my belly pans on some of the boondocking roads as is!

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  2 місяці тому

      With the 3 inch lift you really don’t add much. But yes absolutely depends on where you go with your rig. The absolute lowest point on it is 9” above ground level

      At least it's a lower depth than the Onan 2500. I like the dual-fuel aspect of it - and if I can (I know I could) set it up to auto-start off a multiplus 3000 low battery signal, that would make winter boondocking so much safer. I'm currently using a manual generator in a tent (to protect it from snow and rain) at that time of year.

    The most common engines/generator used in Onan generators are manufactured by Onan themselves. Definitely not Westinghouse...

    Love the content! Quick question, why is shore power 4 wires and the generator 3 wires?

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  11 місяців тому +1

      Shore Power is two hot legs of 120 V in split phase. This generator puts out just one single leg of 120 V. Some generators do come with two legs of 120 V and bigger applications.

      Would be interesting to see the results of an impact with the ground (speed bump?) or animal (armadillo?) at high speed.
      From the looks of it, seems that the unit is mounted backwards…
      Also thought Yamaha was the manufacturer of the LP Cummins units? Isn’t Westinghouse pretty much just a license brand now days?
      In any case, your install looks great!

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  9 місяців тому

      I am working on adding a diamond plate angled in front of it to protect against road debris and larger objects. I would have to dive deeper into those other questions about who makes what exactly. The unit isnt mounted backwards by any means, it doesn't have specific limitations on what orientation it needs to be. I mounted it this way so I could access the front panel, with it mounted the other way I wouldn't be able to access it due to the recessed portion of the airstream I have it tucked up in.

    This generator is about as expensive as the Onan.

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  11 місяців тому

      Onan generator 2500i is $4,200 no mount. The 3600 is $4,500+ 5500 is $5,200+. Again all is no mount. Single fuel. This generator beats out Onan in multiple ways

    • @reberhardt

      @@WhyNotRV Amazon has the duel fuel 5500 for $5300. The Onan LP 5500 is $5850. Either way, neither is a bargain.
