    Why Not RV: Episode 118 - Travel Trailer Starlink Mount. This is just the method I chose to use for mounting the starlink on my airstream. There are several options out there, I just felt this was best for me and my use.

    I like the idea. The only suggestion at the moment would be to drop the base of the pole to the ground to provide a little bit more stability to the pole.

      Depending on wind conditions could easily do so.

    Looks great! One neat thing I saw once was someone used a plumbing fernco to mate the starlink to an old satellite dish mount on his house. Probably cheaper than the starlink pipe adapter and easier to install!

    How did you "break" off the bottom section of pole?

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  Місяць тому +1

      Carefully lol. No but seriously there’s a plastic tensioner ring that holds them together. I just kind of cracked that by extending the pole at the joint I wanted broken and working it loose

    Does your front windscreen open with the pole there? If so I’m getting that to run the tallest flag in the campground haha

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  Рік тому +1

      So, with the current set up that I have in this video, no, You cannot open up the front window. However, you can easily get a hitch extension tube that will kick it out another six inches or even less and you’ll be able to open the window no issues.

    Great video. Thanks for posting. I have a question about the receiver hitch flagpole holder you linked to. I just purchased a 20' flagpole from Harbor Freight that looks just like the one you show in the video. It looks like you took off the bottom section of the pole because the diameter was too big for the holder. That means the "new" bottom section is about 2 3/16" in diameter (at least on my Harbor Freight pole). The flagpole holder you linked to shows it is for flagpoles up to 2" in diameter. What is the diameter of your new bottom section? If larger than 2", does that holder actually accommodate poles slightly larger than 2". Thanks, in advance.

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  Рік тому

      The holder is pretty much 2 inches on the dot. It might have room for 2 1/16 but I took at least one section off the bottom. I don’t recall if I took two off at Paul or not. But it’s a 2 inch pole of this point.

    Can you still open the front window with the flagpole mounted?

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  Рік тому

      Good question. I believe there’s clearance but I’ll have to test next time. It can definitely open. Question is how far if it’s limited….

  • @shepardsonp
    @shepardsonp 2 місяці тому

    I just received all the parts that were ordered from the link. The pole DOES NOT fit in the holder as it is the same diameter as the holder. Question: Do you have to remove the first section and use the second section as the base section? Also, is there an easy way to remove the first section so it fits?

    • @WhyNotRV
      @WhyNotRV  2 місяці тому

      Yes. I talk about that in the video. Go to 5:25 in the video. You can basically just remove that first section by taking the rest of the flagpole up past the first section, loosen the ring and break it out with a little force.
