"I'll tell you someday" always brings so many feelings, my mother told me she had cancer around the time it was released. I couldn't help but listen to it on repeat. She has since recovered and is doing well. However, the song still means a lot to me as a point when words alone couldn't speak my feelings. Thank you Plini.
That is a special song and plini’s best overall song imo. It has a special something to that song. The mix, the playing, and the writing for each instrument, it’s all top shelf stuff. So emotional and powerful and paints a beautiful picture whatever picture you choose it to be in your head and imagination and the melodies and sounds are positive and hopeful. Plini basically showed us the picture it paints in his head with the video he put out for that song, it’s a playthrough but has so many beautiful artistic elements to it and surrea lighting like he’s dreaming in heaven or something lol. I played that song on me and my wife’s very first date the day the album came out was the day I met her. Yes we got engaged and married fast since she’s my wife now lolll cause it’s their newest album and hasn’t been out too long hahaha. But it’s a special song for us. She told me she doesn’t like metal or rock or heavy music and then she heard “I’ll tell you someday” and she just looked in awe and didn’t speak a word the entire song and looked at me right after the song ended and said that song was absolutely beautiful and captured her the entire time. Ever since then I’ve introduced her to amazing instrumental bands and luckily now she hates vocalists and singing and of course screaming and prefers progressive instrumental music.
That hi-hat 2 minutes in on I'll Tell You Someday is the shit. It's the same rhythm as the guitar right before it and it just repeats but it just sounds soo good.
I discovered Plini right after I lost my wife. He is such an uplifting player. I bought every audio track I could find. He really lifted me up during a hard time.
Plini is the only human ever who could pull off the "I'm so sleepy I haven't slept in days" and "i just woke up and i haven't got my coffee yet" look simultaneously
13:25 I heard Simon play this bass-tapping section live in London and it blew me away how effortless, how tight and how amazing it sounded. The whole of Plini's band are extraordinary
I heard every single thing played. Every note, every cymbal. Whoever Final Mix EQ'd this, well done. Very crisp. The lows were low, the highs were just right, and everything in-between was tight.
Right…but it goes beyond just that…I bet the raw tales are just as good….great drums…tuning…cymbal choice….guitar tones etc…very very well….and the obvious talented well played musicians
I remember hearing Plini for the first time, when he first posted his music on one of guitar forums and I thought to myself:"this dude gonna go places".
1st time i saw plini playing was on guitar messenger contest, his entry was mind blowing He didn't win the competition but now he is a guitar messenger 🎸
Best part of live videos is when you know the song note for note and you notice all the perfect little additions thrown into the mix. When it's plini? 12/10 top shelf shit every time.
Plini, I've been listening to you guys since 2017 and honestly your music changed my life. Your album Handmade Cities took me through college and Impulse Voices through my working career. It's been a sort of narrative field to how my life's been so far. It's made me feel so strong when I was at my lowest point and continues to be a source of pure catharsis. You're such a brilliant composer and guitarist, please never stop making music that speaks to my soul and allows me to feel things in the deepest trenches of my heart. When I saw you live in Bangalore at The Humming Tree in 2017 for the Handmade Cities Tour along with David Maxim Micic and Kraken, that night was the most magical experience of my entire life. Thanks for the good music and keep rocking man. Love ya. ☺️😊
Saw them last night in Salt Lake City for the second time and it was easily one of the best shows I’ve seen from them. You’re 1000% right. They play MASTERFULLY every time
Amazing, as always. Love the very first song. That was my intro to Plini several years ago I still get goose bumps when I hear it and can't stop smiling
One of the best bands I have ever heard. Same goes for Plini on the guitar. I love Satriani, Vai, Lukather and Eddie Van Halen. Plini is like a fusion of my heros and then some. Keep on rocking guys.
I've been waiting for 12 fucking years, since 2011 by the Halcyon era to hear some live shit from this ppl, was about damn time.! Awsome... a little peek about something, the snare sound louder that the rest of the band, other than that everything is cool, the bass player sound brutal i like that distortion. ¡oh come on, tell me that you didn't record just 3 songs! we need more of this!!, saludos de venezuela lml
'Handmade Cities' is one of the greatest albums ever released. I say this as a musicologist. As a semi-pro guitar player. As a fan. God, how I love that album.
This is the greatest thing ever. I’ve seen Plini live twice and can’t wait to see them again. Way to start off 2023! Also, glad to see Troy behind the drums again.
If you told me this was outtake tracks from DreamTheater's Images and Words sessions I'd have totally believed you, and I've been listening to that album for 30 years.
Gahhhh when Cascade hits. My lord. 3 of my favorite songs in 1 place and epically played live with an even better sound than on the recording. Great job Plini!!!
Man what a great set. Cascade was the first Plini song I ever heard, I'll Tell You Someday may be my favorite ever, and Electric Sunrise, just wow...bro, goosebumps the whole time
Cascade will always be my favorite. Perfect blend of hard and soft. Amazing drum and bass runs. It has everything. Close second is Paper Moon. Cool seeing Troy get to jam with you guys. Best album he has put out to date IMO. BTW I LOVE Simons big bass of combat sound!
Esta banda tiene una onda muy particular; en esencia le ponen el alma y el corazón a esos instrumentos. Todo bien coordinado. Son unos Masters, unos genios! Gracias por este tipo de música que hacen!! Saludos desde Mendoza, Argentina!!
Saw Plini open for Periphery right before COVID started and it was probably the second best experience of my life, the first being the birth of my daughter.
I'm so keen for your Melbourne concert coming up next month! Also Troy on the drums! ❤️👌 Man he adds so much power and finesse to you're songs I hope he's playing with you guys in Melbourne? 🙏
"I'll tell you someday" always brings so many feelings, my mother told me she had cancer around the time it was released. I couldn't help but listen to it on repeat. Thank you Plini.
Glad she's doing better, mate.
♥
Don't ever take for granted how lucky you are that she's still here and recovered. Cancer is the worst. Very very happy for you and her
Thank you all 🙏

It's unbelievable how tight plini is live
Is the actual take "live live" or was it cleaned up afterwards, does anybody know?
@@athmaid the actual live live is also tight af. seen him thrice now
@@norppa658 I bet, that's all I ever hear. Still hoping to catch him on tour with David Maxim Micic at some point
The amount of concentration is dexterous!
They're always locked in.
Troy is such a force behind the drums, dude is a beast.
Totally agree! He is a heavy hitter, but with the capacity to produce soft touches when is requiere.
Yall seen that live vid when he loses his stick?
He is. The first time I saw him in YT is with his Bleed cover.
@@mflicker8319 my first time was last month with his CAFO cover, dude is next level!
Love Troy on the drums
That hi-hat 2 minutes in on I'll Tell You Someday is the shit. It's the same rhythm as the guitar right before it and it just repeats but it just sounds soo good.
@@metalboy27 yeah, man. It's so complex to keep in that rhythm and he makes it looks like easy.
@@hiqhuidc Luckily the snare and bass in that section isn't too technical, but it would still take a ton of practice to get it down clean.
Me too :3
What happened to the other drummer?
I discovered Plini right after I lost my wife. He is such an uplifting player. I bought every audio track I could find. He really lifted me up during a hard time.
Sorry for your loss homie, plini truly is amazing! Goes to show just how healing and powerful music is.
Sorry for your loss brother. Music heals, as does time. And they never stop. Better days ahead.
@@BdaB164 I really appreciate that. Music has always been a help. But Plini is a notch (or 3) above everything else haha
Sorry for your loss buddy Bless up from Belgrade
I am sorry for your loss. Yes, it is amazing how music can help you deal with things. I am glad you found this band.
Plini is the only human ever who could pull off the "I'm so sleepy I haven't slept in days" and "i just woke up and i haven't got my coffee yet" look simultaneously
It’s really the hair lmao
While shredding
13:25 I heard Simon play this bass-tapping section live in London and it blew me away how effortless, how tight and how amazing it sounded. The whole of Plini's band are extraordinary
Read your comment before watching the video and that part had my jaw on the floor. I had no idea Simon was the one playing that
Until now, I just assumed it was a synthesizer arpeggio. Tight is right.
Oh, what a treat! 👀
I heard every single thing played. Every note, every cymbal. Whoever Final Mix EQ'd this, well done. Very crisp. The lows were low, the highs were just right, and everything in-between was tight.
Simon, the bass player, does the mix. Amazing talent.
Right…but it goes beyond just that…I bet the raw tales are just as good….great drums…tuning…cymbal choice….guitar tones etc…very very well….and the obvious talented well played musicians
@@anchorstudios9747 I saw them live a few months back. I can attest to the artistry of these dudes live.
I just wish there was a little more reverb on the drums. Otherwise its such a clean mix.
On every album!
Got my tickets for the Charlotte,NC show!!
Thank you so much for your music plini it has literally helped to heal my soul from losing my son
I remember hearing Plini for the first time, when he first posted his music on one of guitar forums and I thought to myself:"this dude gonna go places".
True…
The first time l heard him play l thought he was better than the Dream Theater guitarist with elements of Allan Holdsworth.
1st time i saw plini playing was on guitar messenger contest, his entry was mind blowing He didn't win the competition but now he is a guitar messenger 🎸
What forums did he post to?
The same here
Same! Though it wasn't me to discover. My buddy had showed me. Hard to believe how long it has been
One of the greatest bands of all time truly. The genius of Plini and Stanley together is such a gift of incredible music.
Plini has no equal. Writing, technique, tone all flawless.
Tim Henson has joined the chat.
Absolutely no soul though
@@jamespayter6948 I guess I don't follow unless you mean soul pertaining to 'Soul music'.
Ending Electric Sunrise and starting into I'll Tell You Someday is like having the best weekend and starting off the best Monday ever.
Such masterful playing. Already a legend in my opinion. One of my favorite guitarists of all time.
Cascade cascade cascade! Especially that last part when everybody stops and Simon leads them to an explosion with his crazy ass lick
It's not just the music, Plini's videos are always a pleasure to watch. Nice set and cinematography! 👌
Best part of live videos is when you know the song note for note and you notice all the perfect little additions thrown into the mix. When it's plini? 12/10 top shelf shit every time.
This. I'm not an expert, but it's soo satisfying to hear the added/improvised stuff.
My hair is standing up, its so damn good.
Plini's music does something for me, at a visceral level - he's legit the perfect marriage of melody and technique
Spot on

They play ALL of this live, down to the last note. One of the tightest acts out there, and I have seen a fair bunch.

Props to Simon for the amazing mix! (As always)
Hot dang! The bass in this live recording are mighty!
Syncs with the drums so tight
First thing I noticed too, but then I saw this recording was mixed by the bassist :D (And as a former metal bassist, I approve of this :P )
Just spent the day listening to Plini while driving for work. Came home saw this... Can NEVER get enough of Plini and his amazing band! Thank you!!!
It’s so good seeing Troy back with plini.
So fucking good!!!!
Tonal bliss! Now, Plini, please please please upload those presets to your Neural Cloud profile for us QC users!!!!! We need em!

Same here 🙌🏻
Electric sunrise
The final moments of Cascade straight after Simon’s epic bass solo could be my favourite part of any song ever I think. 13:39
Feels like my soul is lifted right at that section
Few songs give me the chills. That part does.
Yeah, there's something magical about that for sure.
Think outro of Octavarium

The best three tracks of all-time!! The drummer is lit :D \m/
I'm blown away by how cleanly Wright overlays that 5/16 pattern starting from 6:59.
100% musicianship with 0% pretense. I haven't wanted to go out and buy an album in years. If that's still a thing, I will.
Awesome at it´s best.
